5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Frith

Pleasures for today (Monday)

1)Not a bad sleep.

2) Cleaned the kitchen floor while it was still cool.

3) Sat in Sainsbury's cafe for a bit with smaller son, for the air conditioning.

4) Watched lots of YouTube videos.

5) Sainsbury's delivery.

6) We had an ice cream in the garden at 10pm !

Back home after a couple of days at CP.

And the sun came out! Hurrah! Not as hot as down south ( thankfully) but just the right amount of roasty toasty.

Four lots of swimming. Lots of nice doggy walks. Luckily there’s shady areas.

DD2 and SIL popped down both days.

Read a couple of books…and passed on a pile to someone else this morning. We were chatting books in the pool yesterday.

And getting braver motorway there and back!

Just going to hang out all my washing!

Hello. I'm back from 10 days in sunny Spain, which actually, for the last three days was cooler than here! But we had lovely consistently sunny days with a gentle sea breeze and wonderful mild evenings.

Random pleasures.

We stay with friends. K is DH friend from infant school so over 70 years of friendship. Lots to talk about long into the night, every night.

Trips to Spanish seaside villages.

Boat trip to an island.

Excellent food. Very cheap wine.

And now we're back, relaxed and refreshed and ready for anything!

I've not read everything back yet but, Highdays, thinking of you and your sister. Fingers crossed for some better news very soon.

And now to start the washing.

Good evening!

Up and out early to do a cool doggy walk . Did all my plant watering then too.

Walked round to DD2 this morning for a couple of hours.

Had just arrived home when I got a text. A friend who I was meeting later said was I free now…so I jumped in the car…and got stuck in blooming traffic ! For 17 minutes before I reached the top of the temporary traffic lights! Anyway then hit every red light on my way to opposite side of town. Had a lovely catch up.

Popped into charity shop on the way home…got a lovely linen dress. 3 tops. A dress for DD2. And an Emma Bridgewater biscuit barrel…that shall house the dog’s food at the CP! For a grand price of £1.50.

Picked up DD2 enroute, then picked up the dogs at mine and off we went to CP. Quick walk when we got there, in the shady bit, then had a fabulous swim, then quick walk on way back…

Then stuck in same blooming roadworks in reverse order ! Lordy! And of course it was rush hour! So even worse! My doggy was late for his tea! And he does like it at 5pm on the dot!

Another beautiful day! I do love taking washing off the line when it’s still warm!

Morning all.

Still a bit cooler today, thank goodness, though the temperature is due to steadily rise through the day and the sun is finally breaking through the clouds.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride these last couple of weeks for sure.

Anyway, there are some pleasures:

1. Sister is improving and now waiting for a consultation at a specialist heart hospital to find out wht else they have discovered. She is very frail for want of a better word but receiving the best of care and, for now, is in the best place.
2. Little fella had had his cast replaced with a lighter one, still from the top of his arm to his wrist but easier for him to cope with. This will stay in place now until July, hopefully should come off before the end of his last term at this school and for him to enjoy his couple of taster days at 'big school'. He is looking forward to going back to school next week, hopefully he will cope ok.
3. I'm unreasonably excited that my new mobile phone will be delivered today. I've made do for years and years with other people's cast offs - my current phone was middle grandson's about three phones ago and before that was my son's. I've never had a new one, this is long overdue! Son is coming in this evening to set it up, I wouldn't have a clue.
4. Our week or so in Devon in May is becoming an annual event. We love our normal cottage on the Tamar but currently looking a bit further into the South Hams and nearer the beaches for a change, hopefully to do a bit more coast walking next time and visit places we haven't been back to for too long.
5. A lovely quiet morning to myself, hubby is off set building for the play next week. Feels like the first time I've stopped in the last few weeks, time just to draw breath and take stock of things. Normal life is my biggest pleasuure.

Right, off to make a coffee and catch up with the weekend papers. Have a good day whatever you are up to.

In sad news, our cat died on Tuesday evening. She was 20.

To distract ourselves, here are some photos of the most fantastic storm I have ever seen, from just after midnight to 4 this morning. These are from my bedroom window and normally there is not a speck of light out the back...

Late for me !

Out early this morning. At CP for just after 6.30am. Had a walk. Had a swim…went for another swim! And had another walk and then it was time to come home!

Popped round to DD2 and we went as far as the supermarket! And she dropped me off home!

Had got all my swim stuff washed, dried and ready for the next time!

Had some work conversations.

Dropped off some books at a ‘free’ bookshelf thingy and picked up a couple to read at the caravan.

Wore my new to me black linen dress that still had a tag for £25 on it . Was £3.50 ! And it was lovely on and as an added bonus had pockets!

Pleasures for today (Friday)

1)No searing heat and no thunder; slept from midnight onwards!

2) Went to the Post Office to post my Ebay sale. (The old wall lights the electrician took down).

3) Went to Waitrose but the cafe was shut as they had no hot water. Got the free paper.

4) Went to Croome NT, had a pot of tea and did the crossword in the free paper.

5) Helped a man push his broken down car off the main road. Another man came to help so I was then the "driver" and just had to sit in and steer!

6) Went to the local nursery for sweet peas. Planted them in a large pot up off the ground, as there are so many slugs.

7) I applied for a disabled young person grant and smaller son now has some money off his football season ticket.

8) Making a salmon tray bake for tea.

9) Looking forward to Gardener's World etc.

My day didn’t quite go as planned but hey Ho!

Up early.

Wrote a list of chores and oh maybe got 2 of them done when I needed to take DD2 to hospital…and when we thank heavens for our small mercies and say hurrah for a Friday as apparently the car park is not as busy on a Friday…so we got a space without having to drive round and round! And out in time to have lunch at the canteen!

And by the time we got home it was raining and I still had a tip run booked in at the recycling centre. So got a wee bit wet. And decided I wasn’t going to go to CP as planned as pool would be shut as it was raining and it was blooming freezing which is ridiculous after days of heat!

So home it was…had some work stuff to do ( even though I’m not actively working at the moment…I have stuff on the back burner)

Chat to sister.

Took the dog a run in the car when I was dropping something off…couldn’t bear his sad face of oh…you’re going out without me! So he came for a 10 minute drive!

And then the sun came out and dried up all the rain! And turned into a pleasant ( cool) evening.

Lovely work call with a new family.

Bought some sweet Williams in the supermarket…how is almost June already…I think of the flowers in stages ( next will probably be sunflowers)
