I might have been a bit enthusiastic at the sun appearing as now, the ferret bedding, our bedding and some clothes are hung out.
DH went to a speed awareness course, so I took the car and meandered around the Asda, as we don’t have one locally, I spent time ambling but spent the grand total of £6.27.
I spent time reading in the sun.
We ambled to the local to the course Home Bargains as we needed litter, but we were very unprepared for how busy it is on a Monday.
I picked up 2 rtc delphiniums for 70p that I needed to pop in the ground, but realised I needed to do some garden maintenance first, a big bag of garden waste achieved and the first garden aches of 2026.
I’m going to have to film making our bed with ferret help, it’s so good for the soul.
Dinner, well I was supposed to be cooking from scratch but that has moved to tomorrow and today is faggots and mushy peas with new pots, well its still clearing freezer space.
An eye catching moon, as always tonight.

Belated happy birthday wishes, Lainey, hope you had a good one.
Some pleasures:
- Some sunshine recently to cheer the spirits, daffodils in flower, bits of green here and there and not putting the lamps on til well after 5 o'clock - Spring is springing, hooray! A walk at the weekend round a local reservoir, doubt very much if we will have a hosepipe ban this summer.
- Heard today that (not so) little fella has got into his school of choice, relief all round as otherwise he would have been the only one of the three not to go there. It will suit him brilliantly as it did his brothers, Ofsted outstanding and small enough to play to the strengths of all the pupils. He can't wait! So pleased that all the boys have loved school life and flourished in their schools.
- Middle grandson takes his driving theory test tomorrow, how scary, he was a cute little toddler not that long ago surely.
- Lovely long chat with my brother this morning and plans for a couple of trips away made, dates in the diary and one trip booked already. Both agreed we must do things while we are all still able.
- People close to us who were due to fly back yesterday from Australia via Dubai have now been re-routed to San Francisco and then an onward flight to Manchester. Will then have to get to Heathrow to collect their car but at least will be back in this country. Credit to the airlines in the midst of chaos for sorting people out so capably. My lad thinks his upcoming holiday to Cyprus may be in jeopardy, I'm just relieved he is here and not there but obviously a lot of people to be concerned about in these uncertain times.
Thanks for the suggestions, Happycas, still not sure this looks right, oh dear!
Night night all, sleep well.

for yesterday belated St David's Day
- dd2 and fiance stopped over Saturday night - lovely catch-up
- and a lift to church on Sunday on their way back to edinburgh
- the anthem was Stainer's God so love the world which I last sang at Mont St Michel 31 years ago!
- home for lunch, walked the dog, played the piano and time to go back for
- Evensong - the Stainer again and Gibbons drop drop slow tears and a very good mag but can't remember whose.
and for today
- sunshine
- piano lesson - Debussy coming on nicely, new Mendelssohn left hand good, right hand ish, hands together don't hold your breath 🤣
- then off to the library with a masters printed out so i wouldn't be tempted to look at emails - it's about AI and very interesting - viva tomorrow
- then cathedral where very talented artist friend was introducing the new Stations of the Cross which she has made from clay or porcelain - she did a very interesting talk then we could all go round them (they're not mounted yet so were on a table) and feel them.
- home to yummy shepherd's pie then finished watching the night manager. 😱

Well, it’s been a good few years since I last posted but I see that very many of you lot are still going strong in here. Please forgive my rather long absence. I lost the ability to log in, then other things got in the way to distract me and life moved on, but I’ve had a sudden yearning to return and, after some investigating, solved the problem with my account and seem to be able to access it again.
Huge hello again to everyone I knew from before and to everyone I’ve not yet met. And apologies in advance for being dreadfully behind with all your news. I’ve got about 1000 posts to catch up on!
Congratulations Villagelife (and to baby and her parents)!
Oh, and belated happy birthday Lainey!
And belated daffodils to everyone for St David’s Day too.
Five pleasures for today:
- Starting to read back through posts on this thread – there’s so much love here and so much positivity. It feels more important than ever.
- Began listening to The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher, a new-to-me audiobook. I needed something easy to keep me company while doing chores.
- Accidentally discovered some karaoke tracks on Youtube, not quite sure how that came about on my feed since I have never, ever been interested in karaoke, but I’ve just been playing around with randomly singing along to songs from the 60s and 70s. Rather silly but cheering up and there’s nobody around to hear me or comment.
- Easy lunch of last night’s leftovers heated up. Supper tonight will be what I should have had for breakfast since I forgot to have that this morning. An upside-down day.
- Remembered I had a £5 voucher from Ocado and have credited it to tomorrow’s food order in time.
Sweet dreams for later,
Bx
