D4V it's the same brandy used on last year's Christmas cake, if that helps...

For yesterday
Little ferret is so much happier with painkillers and antibiotics, hopefully he’ll be on good form for next weeks op, I’ll be feeding him up on extra over the weekend, his op has doubled in price since the last time we needed it done which was 2 years ago now..
Changed our bedding, about 4 loads hanging out, and to be honest they’ll stay out until tomorrow afternoon now.
A bit more clothes sorting, still lots to move on, one pair of trousers listed on a fb group, snapped up.
HM apple and berry crumble assembled to pop into cook alongside dinner tonight. It was a nice feeling picking our own salad leaves for the lunch salad today.
For today
I got on with more clothes sorting, 1 x bin bags worth for a cs, and a lot of tidying done.
I walked around to pick up my Olio requests, very pleased with some cooked chicken for either us or the ferrets, and some nice bread in the freezer. I will admit there were some doughnuts just eaten.
I did a chop and vegetable parcel for dinner.
Listed a few clothes things for sale.

dfv tenor's fun and it seems - can get down to the c below middle c - but yes I do sometimes go to the alto line oops
1) Thursday evening was back to alto for cathedral choir - in the practice room we sit behind the sopranos so I was able to keep track of both England and Scotland scores
2) then mad dash to the pub for the last 20 minutes of the Scotland game - according to the lads it very much improved on my arrival - saw both of Scotland's winning goals
3) glorious weather - mum and I spent Saturday morning sitting in the garden just enjoying the sun
4) then a trip to the garden centre on the bus to buy more plants for the winter hanging baskets
5) and yesterday back to the pub for a less than inspiring win against Belarus.20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5005 -
Popped to the post office to send off something I’ve sold.
Then over to Aldee, for ferret chicken and picked up a few summer sauces at 39p.
Remembered to pop a wash load in to keep up with it.
We can feel a lurgy starting to hit, but I’m thankful we have an easy food drawer in the freezer for it does.
Dinner was possibly the worst pie I have ever had, ironically from a butcher, glad we only got 2.
Updated my CV and applied for a role I’m really interested in, unfortunately via an agency. I’m trying to track down who it’s actually with but so far with no success

5 mse pleasures for yesterday
1) sausage casserole
2) lunchtime walk in the arboretum
3) playing the piano
4) catching up with my first lecturer when I started at Dundee Uni in 2001 (as a mature student!) - he was waiting for the bus
5) fabulous red sky as I walked home20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5006 -
I’m having a very slow start to my day as woke with labyrinthitis…never quite threw off the last bout. I hate it! Anyway! For Monday. A change of plan as an appointment was postponed as they weren’t feeling well. Went into town to post off a few light pieces to DD2 for her birthday…£22 to post! It’s crazy! But I also know it’s nice to have something to open on your birthday! Popped into a couple of charity shops in town but again feel disappointed…who wants to buy someone’s old bobbled jumper? For just a few pounds less than what a new one would be? However I did get a lovely quilted throw that will probably be for caravan bedroom next year. And a lovely set of new Christmas baubles for £2…note to self do not need any more! And an old but beautifully made St Michael black dress that ain’t the size it says on the label! Just shows how sizing has changed! It was a pound! Then met DD2 and The Chap for brunch. Was a tad disappointing…I was having a roll and bacon but the roll was hot and toasted and the bacon thick and a bit over cooked so was not the texture I was expecting! Anyway my loyalty card had a fiver of points accrued so mine was free! And home!Chat to sister.Bit of time in the garden…well wrapped up. I was so cold yesterday!Work call and meeting date arranged.Had The Pup over for a few hours. Went to bed when they picked him up. Funny head working on me I think as it does the night before.7

Just a rubbishy few days here. Work is awful and a complaint will be going in at some point.
The volunteer who runs our local cafe had a heart attack and couldn't be resuscitated by the other volunteers or paramedics. And just lots of other minor irritations.
I will include as a pleasure watching Wales v Belgium yesterday. An exciting match, stopped briefly by a rat on the pitch!6 -
Morning all.
A grey sort of 'back-endish' day today with a definite chill in the air, and isn't it suddenly getting dark very early? I know we change the clocks soon but it takes me by surprise every year!
Some pleasures:
1) Back to our lunchtime walk and talk with my bairn. I totally relish the time spent with him, we chat away for a good hour every day and still have loads to talk about. So lucky that he wants to spend time with me.
2) Making some house and garden plans though not sure when all this will happen, certainly on hold while our thoughts turn to short days, dark evenings and the C.... word fast . That'll be next Spring then but enjoying the planning.
3) To the dentist tomorrow in the hope that my implant has 'taken' and we can get on with the next stage. Fingers crossed as I've had no problems whatsoever so hoping for the best.
4) Plans made to stay overnight with my brother and SIL on Thursday. Collecting potatoes and onions grown on SIL's brother's farm, also into their local market town to pick up delicious homemade sausages and bargainous sides of salmon. Will be a costly trip but the freezers will benefit now and us later. Be good to catch up over a meal and a couple of bottles of wine.
5) A bittersweet pleasure, my dad's anniversary, four years since he died. He seems so far away now but, oh, the warm and happy memories of a long life well lived and of the most amazing husband and father. Everything good in me comes from my parents' gentle guidance, love and support.
Right, late morning and just look at me - in my dressing gown, hair pack on, face pack on, foot peel sock thingies on. Oh, the glamour! Thankfully I'm home alone but need to get into the shower and 'start the day'!
Have a good one, whatever you are up to.7 -
Oh, Frith, you weren't there when I posted so just read your post. Your current work situation sounds so ongoingly stressful, and how very sad about the volunteer - and what a dreadful shock for the other volunteers too.
Hope things get better for you soon, hard to think they will when you are in the middle of it all. Just keep on keeping on. Thinking about you and sending best wishes.7 -
Thank you, @Highdays
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) I was going to meet my friend but she had to cancel. As I was up early for that, I went to the hairdresser instead and was there for 9am ! Had all hair cut. 4.5 with the trimmers up the back and sides.
3) Had a cup of tea in the local SEND college cafe.
4) Popped in to Waitrose to get the free paper for the crossword.
5) Went to a NT place for a jacket potato and did the crossword. My friend texted while I was there to say his immigration appeal is coming up. @Ampersand will know who I mean.
6) Got my sister's Christmas present from the NT shop (she wanted a family calendar).
7) Back home again. Smaller son had a massive allergic reaction to something yesterday. We can't work out what it is but we had a tidy up and I hoovered everywhere.
8) Made a shepherds pie for tea.
9) My brother came round to watch the England match. I said how work continues to be and that it makes me miserable now even when I'm not there.
10) Spent an hour writing a letter of complaint. I have emailed it to the top manager. I have never met her (can you detect a theme?!) so that will be some light reading for her tomorrow.
11) Popped to Tesco with smaller son.6 -
Frith, here's hoping for your complaint.x
Dug out and wearing a fluffy sparkly jumper, rather than turn the heating on yet.
Wet washing is hanging around
Cut up and portioned up the chicken for the ferrets and sorted the operation money together.
Build your own with chicken fajitas, with the chicken from Olio.
For today
Up very early to get Custard into the vet, only to get stuck in exceptional traffic, with various multiple car accidents shutting the road, I phoned the vets and everyone’s stuck in it. We got him all checked in.
We popped over to the cheap shops as the vets is local to them and farm foods had an offer on DH’s coffee and some half price marked down quality sausages are now safely ensconced in the freezer.
Home, laundry load popped on, and lunch made of ham and rtc coleslaw, also some stress cleaning of the windows.
Back out more traffic, baled out a very well-behaved, gold star for vet nurse cuddles Custard, who is currently inside wandering around quite frankly “high as a kite”. All clean bedding everywhere, pain relief and antibiotics for another week, and the reason we’ve turned the heating on is you guessed it to make sure he’s warm after general anaesthetic.
Ordered in, a lovely treat.
