Pleasures for last couple of days
1. Drive up north good - very lucky missing the shutting of the Motorway for a lorry on fire on the opposite carriageway, it looked very scary as I went past.
2. Dg1 leavers assembly
3. Fish, chips & mushy peas.
4. Took Mum up to North Yorkshire to the moors between Pately & Laverton as 50 years since my dad died and that’s were his ashes were spread
5 As we arrived the sun came out, loads of butterflies & sheep, could see for miles - just beautiful & perfect.5 -
For yesterday,
Was sent another video of our rescue dog, this time next week she should be close to arriving or already with us, eeek!
With my big girl, already too hot to do much in the way of work so gentle groom and then we sat & listened to a podcast together.
I’d had a rough night sleep wise so nap after lunch then an iced coffee with water melon.
Sitting in the garden to read, in the shade as still very warm but enjoyed watching all the flutterbies on the buddleia, much more this year.
Caught up on Uni Challenge, we had forgotten that quizzing Mondays have started up again.4 -
Morning all.
The weekend again...already!
Grey and damp here, just in time for the school holidays. Feeling pretty low, think I'm pottered about the 'tooth work' a week on Monday. Had an appointment with the nurse to check blood pressure and so on for the sedation and I think that's the bit I'm wary of. She said I'll just feel like I've had a couple of glasses of wine too many - well, that's the exact reason I don't drink, can't bear that out of control swimmy feeling so that wasn't exactly reassuring! Neither were the SEVEN consent forms! The tooth is still niggling in spite of extra stong antibiotics, actually they might be one of the reasons I'm feeling funny. Ooh, enough. Some quick peasures:
1) A gentle walk and chat with my bairn.
2) Littlest grandson had a lovely school report, class teacher said teaching him had been the highlight of her year. Aww!
3) Lunch out after nurse appointment and Fat Rascals brought home for tea. Yummy.
4) Silicone straws, who knew there were such things, nice and soft for a poorly mouth.
5) Weekly treat of a 'real' newspaper on a Saturday and a rainy afternoon, a match made in heaven.
Have a good weekend, sorry for blethering!5 -
Wholly right to come for reassurance faced with all the consent forms. They are terrifying, but a tickbox to allow the surgeons to do everything needed to help you. There are days I could really do without informed consent, but then I feel peeved I wasn't consulted. (Middleson 'helped' me declutter some cookbooks & his bedside manner is Atrocious, but (a) he's an engineer & (b) he was actually right...)5

Just got home from our holiday in Dorset, yes it was Swanage DFV.
We’ve had a great week, lovely accommodation (caravan) with stunning views, great food and drinks, steam train, castle, boat trip along the Jurassic coast, catch up and fish n chips with old friends, and two glorious beach days (our favourite thing) when the weather was warm and sunny.Back to reality, first lot of washing on, food put away. Unpacking and a very brown garden (despite the rain today) to sort out.
have a good weekend 😊4 -
Looks lovely PH, we are big Dorset fans now.
For yesterday,
Woke up to rain and we had a good amount, on & off for most of the day, could almost hear the garden sucking it up!
Breakfast trip to the farm shop, I had a toasted tea cake.
The rest of the morning was spent with my girl, her dry fly rug had taken a soaking overnight so was hung up to dry, she was fine but her usual sleepy self for the am. She is very taken with her next door neighbour ( handsome grey thoroughbred) and spends time standing at the gap between their stables waiting for a nose touch ❤️Took advantage of a break in the rain for a few garden jobs, the wisteria is putting on a lot of growth so more support put up, we are hoping that it will reach the back door porch before the end of the summer.
Watched and enjoyed the footie.5 -
Pleasures for yesterday (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Another shift done at work. Actually had someone working with me today, which is rare. Saw bigger son on his bike as I drove there.
3) Went to Shrewsbury. Had a mini pizza from Lidl!
4) Watched our team play Shrewsbury. Quite a posh ground.
5) Phoned my school friend in the evening.4 -
D4V, Couldn’t help smiling and thinking DH is/was an engineer by trade and sounds rather similar.
We travelled to MIL’s for the day yesterday and the traffic was kind both ways.
We spent a fair bit of time sitting in the garden and it made my year to see hummingbird moths happily going about their business.
For today a bit of a lay in, and grilled bacon roll for breakfast.
More of the butcher raffle win for dinner, this time meatballs with chickpea pasta and garlic bread.

For yesterday,
Woke early but lay in bed reading until nearly 9, lost in Tudor England and Shardlake.
We had rain on and off for most of the day, did manage to get out in between showers to tie up and feed tomatoes. Saw a big dragonfly.
Roast chicken dinner followed by summer pudding & cream.
The skies cleared at 6 and it turned into a sunny evening so we went for a walk around the now cut field, happy memories of small dog snuffling through the hedgerows.
Watched and enjoyed Karen Pirie, although halfway through I remembered that I’d read the book and may know the plot line 🙈
