Oh, it's lovely to be back and catching up with everyone.
Topsy - yes, do go to Alnwick, the poison garden is spookily fab. You have to go round with a guide as some things are so poisonous they are under glass and lethal if just touched and all described so well. We've been twice and enjoyed it in a morbid sort of way each time.
Happycas - lovely to see your DGD off to her prom, hope things go well for her and she recovers wel from her surgery, a tough thing to have to go through for all of you. Ooh, I almost envy anyone who has just discovered Shardlake, lots of good reading ahead! My SIL has just, on my recommendation - well, I think she got fed up of me going on about them - started the first book and is loving it so was thrilled to find the next three for £1 each in a NT secondhand bookshop while we were on holiday. Also the first couple of Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache went in her basket, have you read those?
Not many pleasures yesterday. I've got a very nasty bite on my arm which has made it very hot and swollen. Treating it so hoping it stops itching and goes down soon. Very expensive trip to the dentist yesterday as more work is needed than I realised but very apparent on the CT scan, so having to bite the bullet so to speak and get it sorted. The infection is back so until the meds kick in my mouth is sore again and I'm told the infection will keep flaring up til the tooth is out. Ouch, but the appointment is made for the tooth out aand the implant to be done so just need to get through the next week and a bit. Feeling a bit genny with myself so will give myself a shake and go and do something constructive!
Have a good day all.5 -
Hello. iPad is charged again😆 what a faff!Anyway yesterday I didn’t feel very well. Was out walking at 4.30am thankfully home as 10 minutes later it was absolutely lashing with rain. Was then sick. 🤢 so felt rather sorry for myself as I don’t like being sick ( though who does? )
Decorator chap was in…2 small but very high walls papered. Very bold and I am still getting used to it!Library bus hurrah! After 8 weeks! Got a pile of books out
And that was probably about all. As I went to bed very early lWoke up this morning feeling much better.Out with DD2 who had an appointment. Stopped at garden centre on way home, shared a scone. Met an old colleague so had a lovely chatter with her…she said my ears must have been burning as she was just asking about me the other day!I was dropped off and then went back out to pick up prescription, popped into old work to say hello and met two people I know, then my good friend was coming in as I was going out so quick chat and we’ll catch up next week. Then into supermarket and met another friend so quick chat with her. Lots of chatters!Home. Hello doggy. I’m home! And I’ve just been reading all afternoon and just have a couple of chapters left.It has lashed with rain all day!6 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got a few jobs done including cleaning the bathroom.
3) Fishfinger sandwiches for lunch.
4) Went to a National Trust place with smaller son. A quick look round the house, a longer look round the grounds then a pot of tea in the cafe.
5) Lovely chips from the town centre and 2 other football fans were in the queue and said hello.
6) Watched the football. The owner of our team happened to stand right next to smaller son. He asked smaller son loads of questions about where players had come from, the referees in different leagues etc. I think this was one of the best evenings of smaller son's life!
Here they are together, suitably anonymous.

We have just had the loveliest long weekend away in the caravan, I want to say despite the weather as phew scorching, and trying to keep the animals cool, with a lot of cool mats, frozen bottles and a mini air con.
It was a lovely little steam fair, and we met some genuinely lovely people.
There was some strange food made as I didn’t want to cook in the van as it made the already hot temperature rise.
Just ploughing through the washing loads we create from holiday and re packing the van, of course it's showering while I’m trying to try loads on the washing line..
Tonight’s grub will be all the leftovers from the van into a pasta bake.
The triffid tomato plants have been tied up, fed and watered.
Little Swizzel is proving to be rather special, but growing out of the baby phase far too fast!

For yesterday,
Much cooler day so wielded hoover, duster and mop for a good clean upstairs, Capt S was WFH so did the office around him.
Also made a loaf, good to have the house smelling of baking bread again.
Met my friend at the village GC for lunch, good catch up.
As always, time spent with my horse, she kept yawning and had obviously been lying down just before I arrived. Washed my grooming brushes and generally pottered.
The wind got up and we had a decent amount of rain during the evening, it got dark earlier so I popped on some twinkly lights, cosy.4 -
Post just disappeared.

Sick of this happening, especially now it takes so many tries and failures even to sign in.

Hello!Me and my soggy feet and legs have came to bed! Been power washing the patio and got a tad soggy!Up early and out early to CP. Had a nice walk. We have had 2 days of very heavy rain so everywhere was a bit soggy but it’s stayed dry all day.
was a wee bit cooler this morning to start.Had a lovely swim. Caught up on all the gossip 😆
Left about 2pm and came home. Washing on and out. Not quite dry but I’m sure cossie and towel will be dry by the morning.Started a book this morning and have read for a lot of the day so just going to finish it now.Main bit of patio washed. Will sweep up tomorrow when it’s dry.
Passed on deck chairs that I’d got for free. I hadn’t really used them plus I’d bought my little bistro set ( hence patio washed)5 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son came round. We went round the charity shops so he could get a shirt and trousers for his friends' wedding next week.
3) Bigger son reverbed a £20 from the street!
4) Has a cup of tea in M and S cafe.
5) Did a bit of drawing.
6) Went to Currys with smaller son.
7) Saved a magpie that had got stuck in my garage.
8) Catching up on 24 Hours in Police Custody now.4 -
Good morning. 🌞 again
Ampersand - I feel for you. I had a week of 'human' and ' gateway' messages while everyone else seemed to be happily posting away, inc photos! So frustrating.
Highdays - I think Louise Penny is my favourite author. I've read them all twice and next time round I'm coming back as Reine Marie. Another favourite I met on this thread is Elly Griffiths esp the Ruth Galloway series. And now I can add Shardlake😀
Haircut yesterday, but, like everything else, it's gone up! I'll just have to go less often!
Did a new salmon recipe with chipotle paste/ yogurt marinade. Never used chipotle before but I use smoked paprika often and it seemed similar. Anyway, there's the rest of the jar to use up now so it will figure in more meals somewhere.
Watching the bees on the salvia Hot Lips (!) outside the window. They love it there even though each little floret is smaller than a bee.
Got a new tv. It was reduced greatly on Prime day(s). The old one was starting to become awkward and didn't always do what was asked. New one is much more responsive but It still took us ages to set up each bit with QR codes here and passwords there. Done now, though there still nothing we want to watch at the moment.😂
Day off today. No appointments for either of us. Don't know what to do with myself!
Happy Thursday everyone

For yesterday,
Chores wise it was cleaning bathrooms and the oven, all powered by a MR podcast and it was an interview with a heart surgeon.
After the above I swapped out my planned cheese sarnie for a tuna salad at lunchtime 🙈
The hostas have flowers coming, first time growing as I’ve always been put off by the slugs / snails problems but 🤞all good so far.
Starting to get ready for new family member, a slow down feed bowl and probiotic paste ordered, she is a labrador after all!
Watched and thoroughly enjoyed Bookish, the new Mark Gatiss offering.3
