That exhibition looks interesting Amps 👍
For the last couple of days,
Like HappyCas the in / out weather has meant a variety of gardening / household chores have been done. I’m hoping that the ground will be soft enough to dig out a new bed at the weekend.
Have been listening to a lot of Bruce over the last few days, long forgotten songs happily remembered.
Chatting to the estate manager and they are talking about putting bee hives next to the far field where the farmer has planted up a large strip for a wildflower meadow.
Raided the cupboards and made a batch of chocolate hazelnut flapjack for the cake tins.
An unexpected end to the penultimate episode of Race across the World.
Trump v Musk, a spectator sport!5 -
Hello. Having an early bedtime tonight.
Think I had a reasonable night sleep.Out for breakfast with friend and her daughter this morning. Nice to catch up.
Then home, hung out washing and grabbed my dog and off we went…and oh how it poured! So we sat and waited it out and then the sun came out! Had a lovely walk.
Back home about 3pm and pottered around.Did a bit in the garden, planted up some new bedding plants.
And talking of bedding…remembered I’d my bed to remake 😆6 -
Looks like it’s me again!Quiet day. Pottering around.
Went as far as supermarket.
Been a day with lots of weather again!6 -
You can certainly say it's been a day of lots of weather again, mhags - lots of 💦💨💦!
1. So glad to be Doblo mobile again.
2. Darned in the many, many ends of big crochet afghan while listening to Coco Gauff win🎾 in Paris.👏 Hope Alcaraz can do same, but yesterday's great osp was the departure of djokovic.
3. A new2& early Elly Griffiths begun. Trying to read them in order, but it doesn't matter too much.
4. 4 more healthy tomato plants from church plant table to go in early tomorrow. £1 each is sensible, unlike current emporium and garden centre prices, which are😱.
5. Picking and eating new raspberries every day.

For yesterday,
Slow start with a read in bed.
The morning stayed dry and got out into the garden, dug out the bed but ground still hard and my glutes are hurting this morning!
Due to the thundery forecast the horses had been kept in and my girlie wasn’t happy! Graze in hand but when the rain came over we headed back in and I fired up the clippers to trim her legs, with warmer weather apparently on its way I don’t want bitey flies getting into hairy heels.
Easy tea of burgers in buns with HM coleslaw.
Glass of wine, popcorn popped and we watched the latest Bridget Jones movie, good fun.

Morning all.
A late start to the day here, a big lie in after a busy week has left me feeling all discombobulated. Anyway, I'll catch up with myself in a bit and there are always pleasures:
1) A rare night out to celebrate son's birthday. Not sure why but we don't go out for dinner often these days unless we are away so it made a change and lovely to spend some time with him and DIL in a newly-opened restaurant in an area of town that is being redeveloped near the river. Optimistically they had lots of tables and chairs outside which will be very pleasant on a balmy evening, last night not being one of them!
2) Hubby's play is finished, nice to have him home again in the evenings. Out last night but looking forward to a cosy night in tonight.
3) Does a visit to the Dr's count as a pleasure? Hmm... Anyway it appears I have ''long Covid' which accounts for the fact I have had no sense of taste or smell for the last three months. I've got some medication and a repeat appointment in a month's time for possibly a head scan to assess nerve damage, the pleasure I suppose being the fact it may improve in time.
4) Thinking about some local trips out over the next few weeks to places we want to visit before the schools break up for the summer. Very excited about the fact that hubby officially retires on his birthday in 3 weeks time - eventhough he finished work early when we moved here - so will qualify for a bus pass. Where we live this not only allows free bus travel but also free trams into and around the city and free rides on local trains. My son has informed me we live in a request area or some such which basically means we don't even need to go to a bus stop, we can stick our hand out and the bus will stop and then drop us off where we request on the way back. Ooohh!!!
5) A quiet day today, nothing planned and nothing urgent needs doing so we will get over a busy week and I can hopefully retire gracefully to my little summerhouse for an afternoon of reading, crafty stuff and general playing.
Right, will finish my coffee and then get on with the fun. Have a good day and hope you find some sun wherever you are today.6 -
Another quiet day!Woke up at 4.30am and it seems according to FB memories I did the same last year!!Did a bit of sorting out / admin. Prepped for next work day.DD2 and The Chap popped over to use my printer and left with a fire pit and a bird bath! As you do 😆
Was in and out of garden. Have done a bit of pruning and a bit of weeding.Sorted through wardrobes and have a pile for charity bag.Had some mini sausage rolls from freezer and leftover beans for my tea and very nice it was too!!
Had stayed dry for most of day until about 5pm5 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Another awful day at work but only one more to go! Then 3 days off.
3) Did very little in the afternoon but watched television.
4) Painted a little card for a friend whose husband died last week.
5) Spoke to my school friend on the phone.
Lots of work done this week as the dining room floor has been tiled. Filling and sanding done so just need to paint the skirting boards in there now, and the little filled holes left from playing darts...5 -
For Sunday,
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Planted up a couple of hardy fuchsias in the new bed and generally pottered in the garden avoiding Capt S as he cut the grass.
After lunch we wandered down to the main road armed with secateurs to cut back a bush that was blocking the view coming out, despite it being not far from a roundabout it comes out onto the long, straight road into the village and it seems that folks like to see how fast they can accelerate so have been taking my life into my hands a tad.
Lazy afternoon watching the cricket and reading our books.
Watched the last two episodes of this series of The Chelsea Detective, was strange to see the actress who plays Mrs Hall in ACG&S without her pinny ☺️6 -
& needs catch-up notes for all Hurrchrrrs doings these days,😁 but was entirely with Alan's and Jacob's dislike and misgiving re: creepy 'Father' Crispin, apparently in charge of The Funeral. Kate's nasty remark re: Alan's refusal of Peggy's planned window was a really vicious stinger to end with!😱....
#1. Supremely beyond any sporting accomplishments remotely human, the repeatedly glorious and spectacular talents and ultimate victory of Carlos Alcaraz, as heard up on The Gallops for over 5 hours yesterday. Add to that the extraordinary coincidence of &'s beloved Rafa, now retired, and his worthy successor, both being 22 years, 1 month and 3 days old when winning their 5th GS👏🌟💓🫶🌟💓👏2. Two beautiful greys being somewhat sassy during riding out this morning.3. Good walks over heath then back to Doblo for 3hrs' 1st stage mend of friend's beloved puffa jacket, which she'd caught on overgrown bushes yesterday morning on way to church. 15 rips in all - some L's, others snaggy+nuisancey with a few prickles. Will finish tonight with flourish of gold thread overstitching for dazzle,😁. She's an artist, preparing for next month's Open Studios and believe she'll approve off the wall resuscitation.4. Perfect buy from Heart Foundation CS earlier. Made off-chance query re: a little compact mirror - last one broken. Lady went straight out back and returned with a lovely emerald green one just in. She'd been sorting new bric-à-brac and knew it was there! Both of us delighted.🫶5. Wearing it as we speak....another incredible CS find today - lovely super long(way longer than & is tall, which doesn't take much doing 😁)vintage floaty, abstract flowery Ted Baker printed silk scarf with hand rolled hems, £3. It leapt at & from the stair rail it adorned.🫶😃💓Similar to this, but starts on palest pink, with signature, ending on rich🍷 burgundy. Love it.
