Travelled over to in laws and then ferried her for planned minor surgery back out to Hosp and then back home and stayed the day.
Kindly treated to a Chinese takeaway for dinner
A long journey home but no travel issues this time.
Washing to the line in what looks like the only opportunity this week looking at the forecast
I went through the freezer a couple of free drawers now and meal planned from it.
Tonight is keema curry with some rice and small chips as I fancied chips.
Sat in the garden with a cuppa and read a bit more.
We took Rhubarb and Custard for a local walk to a place I thought would be out in bloom, it was lovely to see the wildlife, but it was very lacking in flowers apparently due to woodland management.
I placed the ferret food order, and she kindly phoned to confirm.
We’ve listed a few more things for sale.
Tonight is chop and veg for dinner, DH can have potatoes with it, but I’m happy with the veg as I’m being a bit diet cautious.

1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Vaguely tidied up during the morning.
3) Made a shepherd's pie.
4) Smaller son and I went to the cinema to watch The Salt Path.
5) Went to pick the strawberries and nearly put my hands on a swarm of bees, hanging from the blackcurrant bush.
6) Watching Call the Midwife.
7) Our new football club hoodies arrived (half price one day sale for season ticket holders!) Smaller son v pleased.

For the last couple of days,
Met a friend for coffee and a catch up.
Quick look around the CS and found a useful picture frame.
Playing hide & seek with some carrots and girlie’s hay net, she soon got bored with nibbling them through the string, picked the whole net up in her teeth and shook it hard until the carrots fell out, clever pony!
Made a cheese & chive quiche and jam tarts with leftover pastry.
Tuesday was very blustery so picked a few roses before their petals got stripped.
Rain as well so inside all morning, did manage a few surveys.
Percy the pigeon and his missus seem to be rebuilding their nest in the hedge so suspect another brood is on its way.
My girlie calling from her field as she spotted me coming out of the barn, never take it for granted.
Watched the last episode of the programme about the Lockerbie bombing, tough watch but interesting as well.6 -
frith did you enjoy the film?We had an overnight stay at the caravan last night. After a night of atrocious caravan dreams I was pleased to just get up this morning. We had a nice ( though cool) walk at 6.30am. Was a big bit breezy though thankfully dry after a night of heavy showers.Left just after 10am.Chat to friend
Chat to sister.Hairdressers at 1pm. Much needed cut! And ouch much needed eyebrow wax! Lovely chatter as always with my hairdresser. She always makes me look better than I did when I went in! And left a tip for the young apprentice who washed my hair! She was so good!Quick nip into supermarket. Got some 🌻 sunflowers. And two sets of bedding plants as my nice thing to do after a service treat to myself. Then in for about a whole 10 minutes then out to ouchy ouch massage which was particularly ouchy today. And in for about half an hour and then back out to vets. For a check up. Again very thorough.A wave as DD2 drove past having picked up her dog.Pie and beans for tea.A day of much weather…very breezy and heavy showers and dry spells.5 -
@mhagster - yes, it's definitely worth a watch. I got the book from the free book shelf in Sainsbury's ages ago so I had better read it now!
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Up early-ish to get to the hairdressers where you don't need to book, by 9am. It had moved! So walked to the new site. Hair cut at the back once again. It's gone from a number 4.5 (clippers) to a bob in 11 months.
3) Walked to beards no more (though I don't actually grow much of one anymore) but sideburns and eyebrows were sorted.
4) Went to the SEND college that I wanted smaller son to go to, for a cup of tea. (The students staff a cafe open to the public).
5) Went to Screwfix.
6) Managed to convert the kitchen light from fluorescent tubes to LED. Still quite pleased with myself.
7) The tiler came and started work in the dining room.
8) Dismantled furniture for a change around and emptied drawers out.
9) Made hm chicken nuggets for tea.
10) Swapped a cable in the TV/Roku box system to see if that will settle the intermittent interference.
11) Looming forward to watching Race Across the World.5 -
Morning all.
Grey and wet here, we seem to be back to a typical British summer - what a shame!
Good to 'see' you Suffolksue, glad your lad is doing ok, I think of him often and wonder how he is getting on. They are fast growing up and making their own futures and can then live their lives on their own terms. My grandson has a very fractured relationship with his mum. Although she made sure he had his own room when she moved out, unlike the other two boys he has never stayed there and chose to stay with his dad full-time. I know your circumstances are very different but nevertheless your heart aches for them so it's good they are growing up and becoming their own men.
Some pleasures:
1) My bairn's birthday today - 44 years old, where did those years go?! Still and always my heart's best pleasure.
2) Having a week of taking littlest grandson out and about, lovely to have him to ourselves as this happens less and less now he is growing up and spending less time with us but we have a wonderfully close bond with all the boys having played a big part in all their lives. I'm sure they think of us as very old people but are still happy to be around us which we are very grateful for.
3) A good evening at hubby's play. They say don't work with children or animals but there are both in this play and so far so good. Theatre was only about half full last night but busier for the next two nights. A lovely group of people and a smashing local theatre (think Sudbury, Suffolksue!!!).
4) Some good reading time this week while hubby is occupied elsewhere and some good books on the go.
5) Everywhere looking very green and lush after some rain. The gardens needed a good soak and they've had one so it can brighten up again now!
No childcare duties for us today, son gets a day off work for his birthday so is taking little chappie bowling and then all his boys out this afternoon so a lazy day of pottering - oops, that maybe should be a busy day of household chores but procrastinating is also a pleasure...
Enjoy your day, whatever you are up to.6 -
DH has been digging out his Hornby / Triang OO trains to sell on, it seems sad, but he doesn’t use or have space for OO gauge, and they have sat boxed up for a couple of years now. I was looking into some auctions but decided against when I saw they charge both the buyer and seller big commission.
Watching a gaggle of sparrows all using the birdbath at the same time
Cooked up enough chicken at lunch to cover dinner as well
Dug out a couple of inherited art boxes and listed one to sell on, as there are multiples of them.
Did get 2 wash loads out and back in from the line.
Today was doctor’s appointments for us both.
While on the way back we did a food shop.
The ferret food was delivered, and we spent an hour chopping and portioning some up.
We’ve honestly spent a lot of time writing adverts and listing things up for sale over the last few days.
Spaghetti bolognaise from a batch cooked portion will be dinner later.

Trying for the 3rd time to do this from Town of Horse High Street🤞.

"An evening with psychological thriller author Alison Stockham"
Quite something, as is she!
2. Was able to go because Doblo mobile again, several days earlier than expected!
Wonderful local garage peeps.👏.
3. Some CUBG pics which wouldn't load the other day:They've just taken pittas from &'s hand.
& loves every part of CUBG.
The NZ garden is recovering.
The incredible lush scent of this, even from well over 20 metres away!
Also love these in one section of the tropical glasshouses. They never look real.🙂
Loads more pics, but won't tempt fate again.😏
4. 3rd potato sack is sprouting well.Started the other 2 sooner, but something's chomping their big leaves, despite slug pellets.😡
5. Anyone who can get to Cambridge Drawing Society's Summer Exhibition in the Pitt building, 10-16h daily, before it ends on Saturday, should go! So much there that's wonderful.
Lainey? Suffolk Sue?
Totally recommended.

Good morning. Raining! But I'm glad really cos the garden is looking great.
Recently
We're going out to posh Chinese restaurant tonight and following my recent drastic wardrobe cull, I've nothing to wear! Off to TK Maxx. Got a DKNY dress (get me!) for £25! It's royal blue crepe, very simple and I'm delighted. I already have shoes which go perfectly. Job done!
It's been a week of sunshine and showers so I've managed to mix and match gardening and housework and feel as if I'm finally catching up with myself! It's a good feeling.
Won £25 on premium bonds. Will add to the holiday fund😀
DH went to a garden centre cafe with his friend and came back with a scabious for me. How well he knows me. It's one of my favourite flowers ( there are many!). Horrible name but beautiful flower. Two of the flower stalks had been damaged in transit so I picked them to go in a bud vase with some lavender. So pretty.
I've had a really bad night's sleep, even by my very poor standards. I'm hoping I manage a nap this afternoon. Don't want to be nodding off into the crispy duck
Happy Friday everyone
