    For Beltane,

A hot, sunny day and wearing a summer dress for first time this year but also remembering to take a cardi to pop on when shopping as the emporium’s air conditioning is very efficient.

My girlie relishing a particularly juicy apple, eyes closed in appreciation.

Reading in the garden, Three Dials Mystery, vintage Christie.

The first strawberry of the summer.

Capt S left at 9pm to go help do the local election count and I stood outside for a while watching Mr Bat fly around the cottage.

The first pleasure is of course the lovely sunny weather. I did get some jobs done and run errands earlier in the day but since 3pm it’s been uncomfortably warm so I have retreated into the cool of the house and have my feet up with a cup of tea. Bliss.

Visited a small independent plant nursery this morning as I fancied another blueberry bush and some herbs. This nursery has a selection of plants (near the end of their season) which they give customers for free on the way out, and they had trays of beautiful primula vulgaris in white, pink and yellow today. I asked if I could please have a white one, but they said I could take the whole tray of six! I’ve planted them up in a trough at home and although the flowers probably won’t last long they are perennials so I shall enjoy seeing them again next spring.

Earlier in the week I dug over my existing herb bed (which had been neglected for the past year and was full of nettles and brambles) and have now planted it up with new rosemary, oregano, thyme, marjoram, sorrel, parsley, chives, wild garlic, myrtle and lavender. I’ve managed to keep the existing horseradish and comfrey, and three different types of mint are in a large pot to stop them running amok. Some of the herbs were bought new, others I’ve grown from seed or cuttings myself. I’ve mulched the bed with bark chippings which does make it look a bit like a municipal park, but at least it’ll keep the weeds down.  The pleasure is that it’s all finished.

I treated myself to some fancy new shampoo this week, and used it for the first time this morning. It actually came as a whole set with shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, heat protection spray and a leave-in conditioning cream, so I applied the hair mask for 20 minutes before my shower this morning and am loving the result! My hair is fine, dry, and prone to frizziness but this new stuff has made it all lovely. The pleasure is being self-indulgent for a change, something I’ve not done for quite a while.

A couple of small wins on the premium bonds this morning! Not the top prize I always hope for, but £175 is still a lovely surprise.

    Bedtime.

Up early and we headed off to CP.  Had a very lovely walk.
    Home about 1pm ish.
Put a washing on as I’d brought back towels and tea towels from caravan.
Got a work call for another job. Made arrangements to meet the new family next week.
    Quick chat with sister.
Sat outside for a wee while. But whilst brighter today not too warm.
    pup was collected.
Then popped down to visit the family I’m working with on Monday.
And home! Watched a lovely sunset.

    Weds

We took both fizzers and her mate Daim over to the in laws, where Daim had great fun exploring their garden.

We spent some lovely time in their garden, nature watching with a cuppa.

We moved the ferrets in their travel cage into the house while we popped out to a local café for a really lovely meal, we were kindly treated to.

We went for a walk by Minnis Bay, the coast is my relaxing place.

    For Thurs

    Walked around to vote.

Raided the freezer for lunch and ended up cooking up all the reduced sticker pasties, one for lunch and maybe one as a meal for tea.

A few wash loads out and bought in.

I spent a lot of time researching and applying for a few job roles.

    For today

It’s our 20-year wedding anniversary, how’d that happen, we both bought each other token gifts, we’re staying with Fizzers today.

We spent the day gardening, I dragged the front into shape, weeding and planting up 20 marigolds. DH, spent time on the water system and planting up succulents to the back wall.

    We ordered in to celebrate.

It is such a beautiful place, it's where mum in law lives and DH grew up, I get a running commentary about how when we walked back along the top, that pathway wasn't there it was all grass, and the overgrown mounds are where they used to play and run up.

We’re very lucky to live here along the coast. Sadly lots of houses planned here to be built ☹️

Quickly as I’ve hardly any charge!

Up extra early but had a lovely walk.
Down to CP mid morning with both dogs and DD2. Picked up cheese scones on the way. We had a lovely walk.
Moved old table into garage! Oooft! Much pushing/ pulling/huffing and puffing! Had to go the long way as it was just too wide to go through front door.
    Macaroni for tea.
    Chat to friend on phone.
Everything growing in the garden. It’s all so lush!
