For yesterday,
Added flour and an egg to the fruit that had been soaking in hot tea and sugar overnight so by 10am the house smelt of fruit cake. Also made a loaf, 50/50 with added seeds.
Another warm sunny day.
Finished my book, The Mysterious Mr Quin by AC, collection of short stories none of which I had ever read before so thoroughly enjoyed.
Fun in the sun with the beautiful grey one.
Tea was bits & pieces defrosted with a tea of mixed beans in chilli sauce chucked in, tasty.

Woke a wee bit later than usual ( probably still early !) and had sleep right through!
Went to CP via garden centre for a scone.Had a slight mini disaster…have a blocked sink drain , tried to fix myself and ended up with lots of water under the sink cupboard !Son called …wasn’t a good line but we managed to chat ! Lots of repeating !Nice walk before we left.A mix of weather. Definitely cooler, rain, sun, wind and hail.5 -
For yesterday,
Rubbish nights sleep so decided on a quiet day at home rather than the trip out we had planned.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Capt S cleaned out the water feature as Percy the pigeon had been using it as his own personal toilet facilities, couple of empty pots strategically placed to stop him 🤞 I wandered around the garden pulling up a few weeds.
Lots of reading, all the more cosy when the rain came over late afternoon, much needed.
The latest episode of Grace, a slice of buttered tea loaf and cheese.6 -
Morning all.
Still gloriously sunny here, good forecast today but not set to last much longer. We have been very lucky.
Just about to set off for a couple of days away, just on our own this time. When we had to cancel our theatre trip we were fortunate enough to be able to defer our hotel booking so we are making use of that. Some poodling round some lovely shops today, tea and cake in our favourite bookshop ever, then tomorrow a visit to one of the Historic Houses that is just too far away for a day trip but not far enough away for a holiday - haha, well that makes sense to me anyway! Lovely to go away with family which we often do but looking forward to just pottering at our own pace as we still get very tired and sometimes just need to sit quietly for a bit so no pressure to do anything we can't yet quite manage. Blimey, we sound like a right pair of dodderers!!
Have a good couple of days, catch up with you all later in the week.6 -
The chilly breeze is a given, sunny days or otherwise.
1. Dealing with a frightening event since last Thursday. Legal investigation and help underway today. All blessings to V, J and I - ongoing tomorrow.
2. That apart, terrific dramatised Passion yesterday - & as Pontius Pilate.
3. Listened, gripped, to Rory McIlroy's roller coaster final 18 holes to the fabled Green Jacket. [& last played 'golf' over 65 years ago up on The Marine Parade, Napier, NZ😁Didn't look this smart then.

Beyond thrilled for him, after applauding and 'Oh no!'-ing throughout.
Just wonderful.
4. Sensible emporium vouchers used this morning - milk, apples, toms.👌 Remembered to donate books to the café shelf.
5. Finally fed rugby leftovers to ducks, big boy of which persistently refused to move from middle of bridge....😬

Various wash loads in and out.
Hoovered out the car in preparation for the funeral.
Sat in the back garden enjoying the weather and the animals.
A pasta bake for dinner, it needed to be a one bowl thing as DH is one-handed but starting to us the operated on one now.
The car is washed.
We did the funeral food shop and now feel very down.
Watching naff stuff on Netflix to distract us.
Chicken kiev and veg for dinner.
I've decided that I'm never going to lose weight from diet as I love food, so have booked on two exercise classes to see if I can find something I enjoy.

Hello.Another alright sleep ( lest I get used to them!)
Up early . Texting back and forth with DD1. Getting used to different time zones again after they went back last weekend.Wrote a to do list which I’ve just ticked the last thing off which was hoovering…even though there’ll be another labrador here again tomorrow! Was meeting my mentor/friend for lunch which was lovely and even more lovely as she got the bill this time! Good to chat work stuff over with someone else who understands and lots of general chat too!Had optimistically hung out a washing but it was raining on my way home. Washing was about 3/4 dry so ran out to bring it in. It was so blooming cold so I put ( grudgingly) the heating on for an hour to warm me and the washing! Last week doors were wide open and today it’s back to wooly jumpers!Had a snoozette.Had cheese and onion toastie for tea…I literally have hardly any food in…just been using up what I have. The fridge has broccoli , carrots and a pepper and cheese in it! The freezer has veggies and some apples! I have eggs and tins and pasta! I could rustle something up if needed! Probably do a bigger shop at end of week as I have visitors for Easter.Prepped for work tomorrow.Admired ( from inside ) the increasingly greener garden…and a rather odd thump was heard in the garden and when I went out I found a fat ball which I can only assume was dropped from a height by a bird! Chucked it over the fence into the bushes for the birds.Chat with DD2 on phone.Lovely sunset. And bedtime!6 -
Pleasures for last couple of days
1. sunshine and cloudy but love the pretty patterns the clouds make.
2. Saw the beautiful moon
3. Made a crustless quiche with leftovers and cheese from the fridge although DM did all the grating and chopping, was eaten with jacket potato & salad.
4. Managed to repot my tomato seedling into bigger pots with help.
5. Custard Tarts - most of my pleasures seem to revolve around food.
6. Sewed some broad bean seeds in another pot and purple stemmed broccoli in another.
7. Attempting to start off an avocado stone to grow.
8. DM’s help over last 2 weeks, it’s been nice to spend time together.7
