Morning all 😊
Recent pleasures:
Lunch last week with friend sitting out on the terrace at white water rafting centre. No kayaks or rafts on the course but we did watch the firemen practising their water life saving exercises.
Another trip to the coast last Thursday with OH and sis, saw 2 new build bungalows we liked, Will revisit.
More sorting and decluttering done and we did a car boot sale on Sunday. Some things sold, others sorted for the charity shop. I rescued some “treasures” from the boxes that hadn’t seen the light of day for years and have listed some on eBay and ordered a Vintage Cash Cow label to send off others. Will do another car boot soon
Shopping on Monday.
Swimming on Tuesday (50 lengths) and OH came for the first time in ages.
Took my friend to Maldon on Wednesday, it was freezing 🥶 but we did have nice fish and chips in the pub and visited her son who she doesn’t see very often.
Yesterday it was OH’s mum’s interment ☹️ and then we had a lovely meal with his sister, nephew and nieces and friend in pub afterwards.
More sorting to be done today for Vintage Cash Cow and Vinted. As the hay fever has eased a little and it is due to be warm and sunny, hopefully I will spend a little time in the garden titivating and sitting ☀️
Have a lovely day everyone, enjoy the sunshine ☀️7 -
Hello again.
Yet another beautiful day, it's not so set to last much longer they say but we have been so lucky. All the spring flowers and trees in blossom against a clear blue sky are a wonder to behold.
Some pleasures:
1) Relaxing in the sunshine in the garden has, I'm sure, speeded our recovery and put us back on our feet.
2) Luckily hubby hasn't lost his sense of taste or smell so is very useful when I forget pans and can't smell the contents are burning. Oh dear!
3) Using up all the toiletries I'm not so keen on and saving the ones I love til I can smell them again, very MSE!
4) Stashed some lovely less than half price beef and pork joints in the freezer.
5) Yesterday would have been my dad's 99th birthday so lovely memories of a wonderful man and a life very well lived. My brother, whose birthday is over New Year, has adopted the date as his official birthday so the day lives on as a special one.
A few jobs to do now, then a walk and then a bit more relaxing in the garden. Hope you enjoy your day.6 -
I do like your brother's birthday adoption idea, Highdays.🫶

1. Yes, more sunny days+walking after early morning tasks but always with a layer about me, always needed at some point.🙂
2. Fox passed, maybe 5 steps at most away, just a brief glance and ignore. Later, young roe deer about 20 metres off. We stopped on the instant, looked at each other. & still, he bounded off.
3. 5p, 2p, 20p,1p all found underfoot while walking this week.
4. Heads-up dfv😃🌟-
M's excellent talk yesterday on her 65 active Guiding years, ending as a big cheese Commissioner.😁. Many memories and questions sparked from listeners, inc. &. Then and now particularly focused on Scouts now attracting more girls, so Brownies and Guide enrolment is falling.
5. Fed Seniors at final training last night. Will watch them at Cantabs tmrw - all good, caring, decent young men.

Over the past few days
Travelled into London for a second interview, it went well, if I didn’t get it, it’s not because I didn’t try.
Back home for a lunch and change into comfy clothes.
Straight out to the vets with a well one for a check in, and poorly one for antibiotics, took out a second health plan as we are happy there.
Cooked up some chicken and sausages, had wraps.
For thurs
We took MIL out for a specific DVLA eyesight test at a “Humphry” machine. It turned into a really nice day out we arrived early so stopped in to treat her to lunch in the most amazing bakery, our food was a literal wow we were not expecting that for prawn baguettes and drinks they were literally photo worthy but were snaffled quicker than that. MIL aced the eye test and then we just meandered around the charity shops, picking up some 25p books as I simply could not help but purchase the cheese mongers’ history of the uk and UK folklore. A leisurely long drive back and we were treated to dinner out, again amazing food twice in one day. One of those unexpected and most welcome days.
One of the Charity shops also produced a heavy black velvet top, made by a quality name that I don’t think is in business anymore for five pounds it would go well with the skirt I already have for the funeral.
For Today
A quick sweep cleans up around the house
A couple of wash loads to the line
Then jumped in the car and took dh for his hand operation today, as there wasn’t a lot I could do rather than pay hospital car parking I popped to the charity store and dropped 4 big bags off, then to the aldi for a few of it’s super 6, celery, sweetcorn, and beans.
Picked up a very happy DH, full of the joys of anaesthesia and able to look at the hole they did in the hand with people watching as they used a new technology.
Ordering in a takeaway to celebrate getting through the week and commiserate I did not get the job, they went for a version of me that had an additional skill, it crosses my mind maybe I should have fibbed, but I’ve worked in roles before and become the expert on a specific tool without knowing it many times now, but they had the option of someone who already had the additional skill.

Good evening, after another unbelievably beautiful day
@Purple_kitten. Sorry to hear about the job, especially as you'd prepared so well.. I guess now is just not quite the right time. But what's meant for you.....
This weather is marvellous. I've actually run out of things to wash! I know it's meant to break soon but , never mind. It's been great.
DH is now borderline diabetic. He's been pre-diabetic for years but it's now moved up a notch. There's been a lot of comfort eating lately to compensate for the immunotherapy making him feel down! Anyway, cue a strict carb controlled diet. The nurse has given him 3 months to try to turn it around without drugs. DFiL had diabetes so DH is well aware how unpleasant it can be and is willing to stick to a diet. So far anyway!
Have nearly finished my Christmas present jigsaw. It's been a tricky one but I've really enjoyed it
Found some.more mini eggs ( just ornamental, not edible) in a drawer so did an arrangement of magnolia and eucalyptus twigs in a vase with the eggs dotted among. I'm really pleased with it.
Been to the garden centre today to get more veg from the greengrocer. New diet involves loads of veg!! We'll both be jumping five barred gates soon
Happy end of Friday everyone

4. FaceTime call with my db2.
5. Time spent sat in the garden in the sunshine.
PK sorry to hear about the job.Happycas - try roasted cauliflower steaks they are really nice, lots of different flavouring recipes on the web.
MHags - love the sound of your caravan makeover.6 -
goodness a week since I last visited. have now caught up
Congratulations @Frith on older son. i remember the lovely pictures of their travels in the campervan
pooey about the job @purple_kitten
the excitements at Dundee continue. The government has stepped in and appointed Sir Alan Langlands to lead an advisory group to help us sort ourselves out. Funnily enough DrM and I were discussing him the night before the news was announced (he was our principal 2000-2009, I joined as a student 2001 and as a member of staff 2006) Feeling much more positive
1) the wonderful weather (though cold wind still in dundee till Thursday so have only just shed coat)
2) Saturday lunchtime Luton Leeds on tv - Mennies had it set up for me when I arrived :-) coffee first half then ordered my toastie for the 2nd half.
3) 4 consecutive nights with DrM watching the footie. though Sunday Manchester derby was very dull and Monday Leicester game so painful we ended up chatting more than watching. Tuesday (Arsenal) much much better and Aston Villa Wednesday, though disappointed at the result, another good game
4) very good talk by the Dean Thursday lunchtime concentrating on the good news. Much needed at the moment, starting with quote from first minister that the government wouldn't let us close then going onto all the amazing things going on - my department got two slides :-) I have very much raised our visibility in the School in my first year as Director
5) check-up for doggie ear Thursday - improving but now ear drops and another consultation next week kerching. dd2 had brought car so we went on to Broughty Ferry @mhags then first half of monthly meeting I chair, apologies and dash for 2nd half of choir practice (lots of services coming up for Holy Week so lots of music)
you'll be pleased to see last night I had an early night in. I was in bed by 8:30 and finished my book.

For yesterday,
Quick call to shop in horsey town to check that they had a fly mask in right size, picked it up on way to see my girl.A field visit with a bucket of goodies, popped on mask then sat for a bit watching her nibbling at grass and listening to the skylarks high above the paddocks.
Home, change and into Uni City for haircut. So warm that I took my cardi off, just jeans and a shirt, lovely.Drive home was painless with it being the school holidays, dodging the potholes as I went!
A glass of something cold and sparkly.6 -
Good morning from the caravan! I appear to have wifi so I’m making the most of it!
Having a very Kasey start to the day which is actually nice…will be back to fence painting by this afternoon 😆
For Friday : early start and did the chores that needed doing! Whilst waiting on a hot wash to finish before we left. Hoovered. Cleaned bathrooms. Did some work admin. Did an ironing…it’s linen top season!Went via Lidl which is way at the other side of town from me. Got a pastry and something for my dinner and some cans of fizz. And then sighed as I remembered there’s road works on the road to the caravan that way! But we got here and had a lovely walk. Then emptied the crate. Brought my new to me games, hung up some bunting, planted a seed ‘card’ I’d been given last year by a family. Have some hanging pots from the newly painted porchy bit so shall see what grows!DD2 and The Pup dropped in so we had a nice doggy walk. Then they left and I made tea in the airfryer. Quick evening walk and then an early bed!Slept not too bad considering I don’t really sleep well anyway!
Alarm set for a sunrise walk which was wonderful. Just us and the birds (so many birds) and the rising sun! It’s nice now having done the most of what needed doing to just come and relax! Still plenty to do just not as urgent! Will be here a couple more hours then I’ll head home…I need to call a new family and the connection isn’t great here.Have a good day!6 -
And for the rest of the day! Left about lunchtime. Nice drive home.DD2 was here as we had to go in to town.Parked in town supermarket carpark and went in on way back…found just what I’d been looking for for months at a price I was happy to pay! Something else for La Caravan! Then down to Lidl for 2 x Marguerite plants I’d seen yesterday and then as we were down that end of town a quick nip into homebargains to get dehumidifier pouches…and some solar lights for the back garden…and they’ve just came on and look pretty.I had a garden chest filled with things that were supposed to have gone to the new garden so it was like welcoming old friends this afternoon as I brought them out! Oh hello little ceramic toadstools and things that were from my mums garden. And oooh more solar lamps that haven’t came on but they might be dulled after a year in a dark box!Chat to friend on phone.6
