belated birthday greetings mhags and mrpaulie
for yesterday, when we didn't go to watch the partial eclipse due to Scottish weather doing a total eclipse of the sun!
1) went instead to a book reading at the library which was very entertaining and had free tea / coffee and biscuits
2) bought one of the books and got it signed by the author - mum's mother's day present, tick
3) bumped into DrM on my way home, always an mse pleasure even though he was in a hurry
4) afternoon concert with gbf - unfortunately my cough had taken full hold so had to slip out a couple of times despite having cough sweets. concert was brilliant
5) then coffee with gbf and a lift home and an early night
and today, cough no better so messaged choir master with my apologies - shame as full choral evensong this evening but i don't think anyone would have thanked me for going.
1) had a restful morning with lovely flowers from dd1 (delivered yesterday) and dd2 (delivered today)
2) mr t, met an ex colleague who I haven't seen for years. we didn't talk about the elephant in the room!
3) lovely walk with dd2 and we stopped for icecream on the way home
4) lovely video chat with all three children
5) and have just finished washing my bedroom floor and bathroom. still feeling groggy. think i'll work at home tomorrow!

It’s a lovely film Lainey watched it last time I was on a plane!Still dizzy but trying to get stuff done and stuff still needs doing (and only me that does it!)
Up with doggy early then I went back to bed and dozed for a bit. Then friend called on her way to work.Went for a fruit scone. Met a few people I knew so had nice chats with them. Supermarket afterwards.
Home…quick chat to sister. Then out to cut the grass. Planted some bedding plants . Hoovered the car. Put the log basket and stuff away in the garage as log burner getting cleaned tomorrow so probably won’t use till autumn. Sorted the kitchen clock and curtain pole that fell on me! Did an ironing. Hung out another washing. Did some work admin. Changed the ink cartridge. Did some shredding. Washed the floors. All with a wee rest gap in between as I was rather tired in between doing stuff but I’m glad I still got stuff done!Just going to put some sausages in the airfryer and have a sausage sandwich for tea!7 -
For yesterday
Bandit one of the ferrets has been poorly this weekend, but is rallying around, there’s a fine line where we swear he’s been acting it for the extra attention, but he’s started eating and drinking and becoming alert again. It’s funny the things you miss, he’s always asking for a cuddle and threatening to jump the gate, and there’s been none of that this weekend.
The weather is being very kind, watching the flutterbys on the bright flowers.
I made a no sugar cake mix, and as soon as I took it out of the oven to cool the centre dipped right down, I saw this as a complaint on all of the reviews and said sod it, in a bowl, with some whipped up cream it won’t notice.
I made a plan for the garden I’m going to start painting (tomorrow), but I thought about it today, well I can’t rush in from procrastinating..
Leftovers incorporated into dinner, mainly to get rid of the smell from the fridge!
For today
The plan for the garden got underway, we shut the ferrets in the lounge and took out the first side of the garden, and painted both sides of 4 fence panels, 2 trellises and 2 gates, it was a day's work. Now it’s all back in place it must look better, however the other side is 7 panels, and we need to do both sides, and get more fence paint.
We let the ferrets out when we re assembled the garden, they had great fun tunnelling under the tarpaulins.
We had chicken Kiev with baby pots and courgette, it was the first meal I’ve properly enjoyed in a while.

I too watched it on a plane - agree @mhagster lovely film
well done @frith's son on distinction
1) woke late, looked at the weather (glorious) and emailed boss to say sorry about the short notice, taking the day off (teaching finished, marking comes in next friday so ideal time for the weather to be good)
2) did some proper house work and some proper piano practice - 30 minutes of each repeat
3) walked into town with dd2 - unfortunately she got stung by a bee on her collar bone but very nice pharmacist sorted her out then we came home via Lidl for a bag of frozen peas which she duly applied to collar bone
4) sat in the garden drinking tea with dd2 and her friend - we also had the tray bakes sent by dd1
5) lovely evening walk with only dog - a very nice day

For yesterday,
Into horsey town for a food shop and a coffee with my pal.
The rest of the morning was spent in the garden cutting back the grasses. There was a queen wasp buzzing against the windows in the shed so I left the door open ready for her to escape, she had probably spent the winter sheltering in there and I’m just glad it wasn’t in my gloves!
We seem to have two pairs of goldfinches coming down to feed, looks like they are nesting in one of the big beech trees.
The way my mare’s head goes up and she calls out when she realises it’s me walking out to the paddock, never taken for granted.
Enjoyed Uni Challenge and my preferred team won.

Lainey, amazing to have Goldfinches.
Tenuous pleasure, the car needed a very expensive part, DH was able to purchase and fix himself, so saving some pennies.
Picked up some bits from Aldii.
Dragged the house into shape.
The animals checking on what I was up to when I was reading in the sun, in the garden.
Various wash loads around
