For yesterday,
A cup of tea and reading in bed, thoroughly enjoying Miss Bensons Beetle.
Had thoughts of more gardening but the rain started after breakfast and I’m very much a fair weather gardener, did catch up with GW if that counts!
So many birds visiting our garden, as well as the usual suspects we now have goldfinches, a Jay and, a new arrival this week a chaffinch, haven’t seen one of them at ours for a few years.
The evening was dull and grey so lit a candle.
Toaster crumpets and watching Bergerac.

For yesterday,
Rtc daffodils, I got four bunches of the frilly kind for £2.50, second yellow sticker item was apple & fresh cream turnovers as Capt S had a late meeting so a treat for afters.
Mulched all the flower beds, my glutes hurt a bit after Saturday’s stint so good to give them a stretch.
Sat on the back doorstep with a cuppa and admired my handiwork.
Fetched my girlie in and let her have a bit of hay before doing some groundwork.
The lovely Mary Berry at 90.

A lovely sunny morning, so I ventured into a nearby town to check out the chazzers there. It does me good to get out and about (the grief is still raw, but I am slowly starting to adapt to my new normal since Mr CJ passed away).
1) Enjoyed the drive to nearby town. Not quite warm enough to take the car roof down but it feels like it will be soon.
2) Browsed six chazzers without needing anything specific, but came away with a new summer top in a geometric lime green and grey print, and two beautiful longline cowl neck jumpers in the softest pure new wool, one purple and one mustard. They were reduced to £2 each as I guess they are clearing out their winter stock, and to be fair I probably won’t get to wear them until the autumn but they are lovely. I’ve just given them a gentle cycle quick wash and they are drying on the line.
3) Nearby town had a community fridge open so I popped in and came away with free carrots, potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, lettuce, coleslaw mix, mushrooms, a small loaf of sliced rye bread and two bunches of cheery daffodils. Also a handful of Hello Fresh stock paste sachets, which delighted me as they are great and I recently ran out.
4) Had a lovely lunch of Ninja-ed jacket potato with salad and coleslaw (all from number 3, above). Pan of carrot soup also made for tonight, and the bulk of the (many) tomatoes turned into pasta sauce for the freezer.
5) This month’s Good Housekeeping magazine just arrived in the post (it comes free as part of a banking perk) so I am about to read that with feet up and a nice cup of tea.
It’s been a very pleasant day, the sunshine certainly contributes to that 😄 Hope everyone else is doing okay.7 -
Hello! Just about to go and tidy up after my Tuesday Tea guests have just left.Got lovely feedback before I went to bed last night for the service I had sent off.Up early.
Out early! Went into town and managed to get free parking space. What a palaver! Was going to pick up prescription for DD2 who is not well. Pharmacy had sent her a text to say it was ready. However it was just her standard meds not the new ones. So I tried to call GP but was in a queue and thought I’ll walk over…got there and prescription had just been collected 10 minutes prior! Grrr!Anyway nice walk through the big park. Blossom on some of the trees and a smile as a wee daschund was running!Mooch in charity shop whilst in town and found a Roman blind for £3 that will hopefully fit my caravan kitchen window. Gave it a wee spritz and a good blow on the clothes line!Dropped off stuff for DD2 and then home! Then about 2 hours later she texts to say that’s her prescription ready! Grrrrr! Back into town! And hello dog! Then her Pup got dropped off from his dog walk and could I just bring him home. Grrrr! Hello dog 10 minutes later! So he sat on my knee and made sure I sat down for a while. Had a few wee worky texts to deal with.Had a very large gammon joint in the slow cooker all day. With boiled potatoes, broccoli, carrots, sprouts, green beans. Much laughter and chatter round the table! And DD2 had given me a box of eggs that needed used so made a pavlova with a tub of RTC cream and some raspberries I’d chucked in the freezer the other week. Very cheap pud. And sent the remaining half home with my guests! It’s been dry all day, warmish in the sun but still a cool breeze.Hoovered and cleaned downstairs loo and did a bit of ironing.Need to do a wee thing for work meeting I have in the morning and then head to bed!6 -
The past 2 days has been a lot of grief paperwork / phone calls made, surprising how draining it is. We took MIL out with death certificate to a bank, but then also went for an amble around her charity shops just to make sure he did something a bit different.
Today I spent another hour on the above also and then,
2 hours interview research, noting down ask them questions and re jigging my memory, checking the teams link works, and setting up the office to be presentable, and just hoping it goes okay.
Various wash loads both in from the line and out on the line, but today’s weather isn’t so kind.
Leftovers with salad making a presentable dinner.
