Waves hello to DFV 👋
Just in from being out, out. At a party where the music was ever so loud ( but good music) and straining the voice trying to be heard! A sign of getting old I think!! Realise I’d morphed into my mother 😆
Up early and down to CP ( the end is in sight (ish) for painting…I have a deadline of being done by Friday! DD2 was with me so we cracked on…as did the dog who is sporting a very painty tail!Home. Had a lunch as we were going out tonight where there was a lovely buffet. Friend phoned so chatted whilst eating lunch.
Went up to have a wee nap! Or else I’d have crashed long before I did 😆 it was funny we were talking about how we used to all be young and going out every weekend drinking and dancing and now it’s jammies on and into bed before we used to go out!Face mask on , nails painted, glad rags on. Would have taken ages back in the day getting ready!Nice to see people I’ve not seen for a while including the ones who hadn’t realised I’d gone au natural grey! Who’s this? Oh it’s you!And home…dog didn’t even bother getting up!7 -
Quick pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Washed sheets - so I'll have to go up now and put fresh ones on!
3) Smaller son wanted a cup of tea in Morrisons so we went there.
4) Football. Our team won 4-1 today with a hat trick for my favourite player.
5) Watched Casualty.6 -
Pleasures for Saturday
1. Good journey home from work after night shift.
2. Sleep
3. Bed changed with Charity shop buy new duvet cover & pillows
4. cuddles with little dog
5. DS2 did all prep for chicken Fajitas, also made up his own mix of spices - very nice.6 -
DigForVictory said:“I’m having my hedge removed as it’s interfering with my boiler.” Oh if only this was a euphemism
1) a pyjama morning - did some cooking and some piano, but mainly just pottering and drinking coffee with mum
2) then sorted out my dried herbs and spices drawer - I like them alphabetically :-
3) 'literary luncheon' for local society I am President of (Graduate Women Scotland East). The literary speaker couldn't make it and we hadn't managed to find another speaker. However we're 80 this year and my lovely friend (previous President and now President of Graduate Women Scotland) had done some digging in the archives and did a wonderful presentation of the East branch. I think it worked better than a speaker. A great time to catch up. Of the 24 members there, 3 were from our sister branch in Glasgow, 3 were new members I have recruited from the Medical School (which made 5 of us still of working age). We 4 sat together and schemed for increasing younger membership. A very successful and tasty lunch (I had king prawns followed by salmon since you're asking)
4) finally got back to my online workouts - did it watching Death in Paradise
5) then highlights of opera with 4 singers from Scottish Opera and a pianist. It was set on a railway platform and was absolutely brilliant.

Perhaps Mum is going back to the old tradition of biphasic sleep DFV?
For yesterday,
Breakfast out at the farm shop.
Rest of the morning was spent in the garden, cutting back everything that had been left over winter including the nepeta. Found what looked like a mouse nest right in the middle and felt instantly guilty, no sign of the mouse thank goodness!
Warm in the sunshine but by lunch the clouds rolled over and we had some rain, smelt lovely.
Late afternoon and with my girl, met another owner who enthused over her beauty, who am I to argue ☺️Snorkers for tea then caught up with the Marlow Murder Club, cosy crime. Stood on back doorstep for last check on day and Mr Bat was flying around the cottage, good to see he’s made it through winter.6 -
We had overnight rain but was dry rest of day.
Bed stripped , so waited till the wash had finished and hung out then off we went with a bag full of things…like new bedding and a lamp and a vase. And made my caravan bedroom all pretty. After I’d walked the dog.
Did a bit of prettying, a bit of painting in the loo, a bit of floor scrubbing, a bit of hoovering ( silly hoover) and a bit of feet up and reading. Windows open and nice fresh air.
Nice drive home.Washing not quite dry so I’ve just clicked the heating on for half an hour.Remade bed with new bed set.Nice chat to friend.Jammies on already 😆 as I wanted out my painty clothes…I’m rather fed up wearing painty clothes 😆 ( there’s a whole load of fencing to paint still!)7 -
DFV I did laugh.Enjoying reading pleasures.
I prepped a trough that I bought from lidl last year, I’m going to try and grow some rainbow carrots in it and planted up some salad and rainbow chard.
Tonight’s food has changed many times on the way to the kitchen it’s ended up being grilled Cumberland sausage, chips and beans,
Started doing a little bit of interview prep for something next week, which has me suitably worried ah well I think I should be.
Various wash loads, the gift that keeps giving.
Hair pack/face pack, trying to look presentable but not feeling it.

1.
This was excellent yesterday. So glad I went, choosing to walk several miles there and back from a very distant P+R, so another bonus.😃👏
2. &'s No More Books bit of Lent is holding, while also reading down the many still on hand. & has two Ellie Griffiths in her reading stack, DD.😃
3. College debadgering went well.
4. Asked about and was directed to 2 Commonwealth War graves adjacent to today's Church. Hadn't known their headstone shape is always the same. Thinking of the RNZAF one & watches over elsewhere - yes.
5. Double post-surgery check-ups meant all day at Addenbrookes, ahead of next month's in Birmingham. Such care taken. & again gives thanks for the NHS, brilliant young surgeon Michael Parry and those who donated to &'s birthday fundraiser for Sarcoma UK.
#
Next Saturday & is again fundraising at the special Tommy Dann🏉match, again with Jonny Wilkinson speaking at the lunch for a cause he strongly supports. & will be selling raffle tickets from dessert onwards. Sold Jonny £40 worth last year😃👌🫶, so🤞.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Shift at work where I did just what my new job will be. It seems very complicated and there are various things that don't work properly (mainly computers).
3) Free cup of tea in the canteen after my shift.
4) Smaller son and I went to the women's football at our football club. Had some chips and took a flask of tea. They won 2-1.
5) I made kedgeree for tea then a lemon drizzle cake (though it had half an orange of juice added because I didn't think there was enough lemon juice!)
6) Smaller son seems ready for his course again tomorrow (week 2) which is good as I'm working a different shift so won't be here to cheer him on.
7) Ironed the living room curtains and put them back up.6
