Good morning! It’s Christmas Eve! And it’s lashing with rain 😆…just read a message from a friend in Tasmania…to be 25o tomorrow ( which I could cope with by Australian standards) and she said she’d just love a white Christmas. Hmmm…how does a wet or windy one sound?Well I absolutely crashed out last night! Had been on the go since 3am…I was talking to my friend on the phone…And then I woke up…and had this vague recollection of talking to my friend on the phone! And a text recording of me breathing very deeply 😆 oops sorry!Vets bright and early. We have one more corneal gel to apply this morning and that’s him done! Eye has thankfully recovered well. Stomach wise is probably ( hopefully) a gastritis. Possibly initially from his pain meds but absolutely exacerbated by his naughty pinching! So he’s on a special food for four days and a probiotic and a weeks course of omeprazole…which I had to sign a disclaimer that I wouldn’t take them! Special food…6 times a day! Whaaat?Picked up some little tray bakes and a cookie from friend who bakes them.
Home to drop off a doggy then it was time to hit the supermarket! I just went to our local one as I know where everything is and knew what I was going in for. And yes I could have saved a few pennies on the silly veg prices but it would have meant driving through town traffic and trying to park! Nah! However I never use a big trolley! It was full. But lots of tills open instead of the usual two so didn’t have to queue.
And left stuff in the car meantime as I was hosting a surprise event and needed the guest of honour out the way. So I hoovered and washed floors and cleaned bathrooms. And was just going out to get stuff out the car as friend went by so she came in for a blethering as I was unpacking.
The guest of honour was whisked away by her sister and it was operation turn this into a party ! But then the guest of honour wanted to come home early! And she doesn’t like fuss ( which I know) so we had a wee moment and I told her we are all proud of her achievements and wanted to share this with her. And it’s just such and such and such and such that are coming.
And we had a very nice buffet. I’d made meringues in the morning when I was up very early! And had our small traybakes from baker. Sausage rolls, RTC sausages in an onion marmalade, tiny little RTC herby roast potatoes, RTC Indian style samosas /bhajis etc, RTC berries to go with the meringues, salad and dips! And in piled the friends /family and she had such a lovely evening…then crashed about an hour before I did! And me who always takes photos got about 3! As I was too busy chatting and it was just a lovely evening with our nearest and dearest. My husband’s best friend was there and sat on a bit longer after everyone else was away and it was just the girls, The Chap and me and we sat and laughed and laughed, their dad every much part of the conversation! See…sometimes mums do know best! Then it was clean up time! Everyone was warmed not to let Hag get anything to eat but he was his optimistic self and lay near the table! And today it’s dentist first thing! And then the kids are coming over which they have done past few Christmas Eves so that will be nice!Have a lovely day.8 -
Morning everyone 😊 happy Christmas Eve 🎄
just the 2 of us tomorrow (plus son for dinner if he decides to come!). Then 15 of us at mine for Boxing Day! Mostly my family, sis in law, sis, nephews and nieces plus OHs sis as first Christmas without their mum ☹️. Usual mayhem of lots of food and drinks 🍷, quizzes and pass the parcel! Hopefully will watch Gavin & Stacey.
Quiet recovery day on Friday, then back to Blenheim Palace on Saturday to make the most of our annual pass, staying for 2 nights nearby, so 2 more pub meals.
Hope you all have a jolly Christmas 🎄and a happy healthy New Year 🥂😘7 -
Glad to hear that Haggis boy is feeling better but eek to feeding six times a day!
For yesterday,
Early start as we were picking up the turkey and other bits from the Marks in BuryStEds, wasn’t too bad at just gone 8 and we rewarded ourselves with breakfast at the farm shop on way home.
Fridge Tetris when we got home.
Our friends popped in for a coffee and catch up.
Over to the yard, it was bitterly cold out in the fields but girlie was warm enough in turnout rug. Walked her in and got her settled into stable with hay net, apart from small amount of mud on her face she was clean but my friend wasn’t so lucky with his old pony who had rolled and had mud dreadlocks so helped him clean her off. Many years since I groomed something so small but had great fun playing ponies!
Quiet evening in, lights twinkling and festive chocolates being enjoyed.8 -
an early good night from me, my last night in Thailand. Amazing to think I left Blighty 3rd December. It's been amazing. so here's five for today
1) paddling in the South China Sea
2) pampering - a manicure and pedicure
3) finishing book 6/7 (The Dark Remains, first Laidlaw book)
4) sitting in a lovely swinging seat in the hotel grounds
5) thai food - back to the lovely restaurant we found yesterday - between 7 and 9 four ladies come out onto the stage every half hour to do a traditional thai dance - there is a musical box feel to it
Happy Christmas everyone. we leave Bangkok 2:05 am Boxing Day so not sure when I'll next post!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

And for today,
A much slower start with a lie-in followed by a cuppa in bed.
Nice bit of pottering around the house, a loaf was made and a few treats wrapped for my beloved.
It was a much milder day and I didn’t need my big coat over the yard, I’ve decided to give my girlie a couple of weeks off over year-end so just a groom and the last of her advent treats. Chats with my fellow owners.
Driving home, listening to nine lessons & carols from Kings and watching a rather spectacular sunset.
We have just had a picky tea and will soon settle down to catch up on Strike.
Wishing all that post and read here a very Merry Christmas 🎄 xx7 -
Hello.Dentist appointment all fine.
Tuna croissant at favourite town coffee shop.
Very quick nip into M&S, not too busy.
Got a work call when I was at the till! Another job booked in for January. Phoned family in the afternoon and arranged a time to visit after New Year.
Home…hello two doggies.
The prodigal son called. Nice chat with him. Pup collected.
Then a snoozette! I’d asked DD1 to bring me a magazine over from Melbourne and I asked her this morning if I could have it this afternoon to sit and read…er…didn’t even open it! Zonked! Then the much noisier DD2 and The Chap and their doggy came and the peace was gone! And then the Niecelys arrived! Waah! Anyway they are all away with their gifts. And then DD2 and The Chap left. And DD1 has gone to bed ( as she’s still jet lagged)
And it’s just me and my doggy boy ( he’s snoring ) and I’m watching the Royal Carol concert. I’ve got stockings to fill.Have a lovely Christmas everyone x8 -
Merry Christmas, everyone!
Pleasures for today (Tuesday and Christmas Eve)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Pottered around getting organised first thing.
3) Drove to Broadway without incident. No queues but it is just a long, slow road.
4) Met my school friend and we went to a pub and had a pudding and a pot of tea!
5) Foggy on the way home so I pulled in at Waitrose in floody city to rest my eyes. Asked for a pot of tea in the cafe (it was 4.50pm) and they were closing at 5 so they gave me ALL THEIR CAKE! For free!
6) Went to see bigger son and his girlfriend to take his new Christmas Eve pyjamas plus their stocking fillers and some free cake.
7) Looking forward to watching Gone Fishing.5 -
1 I pruned the big dead plant from the front door and cleaned out all the ferret bedding, and bought in more litter, checked on the greenhouse plant cuttings, they are doing okay
2 I wrapped up and went for a walk, today can be hard as I will always remember the call for Dad, 7 years how can that be! So I took myself off for a walk and took in the Christmas lights, I popped into aldii the only day I will go out of my way, and wasn’t lucky this time.
3 Leftover takeaway was lunch, and rtc bacon, brie chicken with greens was a tasty dinner but left me hungry.
4 Caught up with DB.
5 Accepted an invitation to a get-together.
Wishing everyone a lovely Christmas.

I hope you're doing OK, PK.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday and Christmas Day)
1) Smaller son opened his stocking just after midnight and particularly liked the changing colour light bulb (you change it using your mobile phone). Bigger son liked the apple peeling/coring machine.
2) I had some nice slippers from my friend and various other bits and pieces.
3) Cooking the Christmas dinner went without incident and a squirrel ran off with a LO piece of potato that I put outside!
4) Went to my sister's at around 4 and my brother was there plus bigger son and his girlfriend. We watched the new Wallis and Grommet film.
5) Popped in to my parents' afterwards.

Hello. I am so lethargic today! Another 3am start to my day with a doggy!Yesterday was nice. I find Christmas Day is now very different for me than it was and kind of struggle a bit but I try and do all the nice things in the run up to the day.
Anyway of course I was up early as that’s when I wake. Put the tree lights on and candles on the windowsill waited till DD1 was awake. We opened our gifts in my bed which was nice as everyone used to pile on with their stockings before we went downstairs.I got some lovely things. That I’d asked for as I didn’t want ‘stuff’ for the sake of it.We had an odd thing occur when my brother turned up out the blue. I had just called my sister but she was at my nephews for a visit so she said she’d call when she got home. Then DD2 called to say they’d be down in half an hour. And then the door went and the dog barked but then was wagging his tail and I couldn’t think who it would be on Christmas morning. There is very little communication between us and I had invited him the previous two Christmas to say he’d be welcome if he wanted to pop in and never even got a reply so didn’t do it this year …anyway in he came and he had two cups of tea and two rolls and sliced sausage! And my sister called and couldn’t quite believe it either and then best friend called and neither could she! Three hours he was here!!
My dog was taken a big walk by DD2 and the chap and then they dropped him off and I had a snooze! Then it was time to start cooking. We had chicken breast wrapped in soft cheese and bacon, gammon joint in the slow cooker all day. Homemade cranberry sauce made with RTC cranberry and oranges. Honey roasted parsnips and carrots, roast potatoes, sprouts for me only and broccoli and it was all very delicious. Then a fabulous pavlova for pud with RTC berries. Pulled my charity shop crackers and confetti went everywhere, however they were all filled with jokes/facts/charades so we did them as we were eating.I absolutely knew I wasn’t going to stay awake to see call the midwife…got about as far as the theme tune! I never do!Then a dog was up at 3am.Today I’ve just been so sleepy. DD1 has brought a cold with her so I think I might be coming down with that.Or could just be the quiet after all the bizz.We took dog to caravan park and he had a nice run/walk.And home…and a snooze on the sofa!Been mild today but drizzly.Caught up on what I needed to 😆8
