1 I spent the whole day de cluttering the garden, tidying, a little pruning and then the afternoon pre rinsing and then jet washing the path by the house, the algae off the sheds, and the patio.
2 I’m aching a bit but not scared to take painkillers, it’s also nice to feel like I’ve achieved something to earn the ache..
3 DH has been finishing off re sealing the bathroom.
4 I feel like we’ve done enough to justify a takeaway, it just moves my mince cooking to tomorrow.
5 The ferrets dancing around in the wet and piles of leaves and mess I’ve achieved, they love it when we "do stuff”.

Good morning. Very grey here agsin. But not cold, so that's good.
Took revamped guitar to DGD on Sunday. DH has been doing up his old cheap one for her. It's been hanging about in the loft for years. Anyway he painted it white, restrung , new tuning bits etc. Not MSE really cos the paint and parts probably cost more than a new cheap guitar. But he really enjoyed doing it, and she's very pleased so all worthwhile.
Talking of MSE, I've had a bit of a cooking spree and was musing about how money saving home cooking is. Soups certainly Even if you start with new ingredients they cost pennies And mine usually contain lots of leftovers! But I made a meat pie and a sponge cake and I think I could probably buy ready made cheaper. But I tell myself it won't be as nice😂
Another appointment week. Dentist yesterday and back today to clean out a 'pocket' she found! And empty my purse too!
Wednesday pick up new specs. More money!
Friday prescription check at GPs. At least that's free!
Happy Tuesday everyone

For yesterday,
Waving to my young friend as she crossed in front of me at the lights, she was atop hundreds of kilos of flighty thoroughbred which was bouncing along anticipating the gallop to come but she sat well.
Juvenile woodpeckers on the bird feeders, love to watch them moving along the apple tree branches.
My friend turned up and I took her over to see the beautiful grey one, years ago we had our horses together in livery when I had dear old Bill and have remained friends since. My girlie was pampered with two people grooming her and enjoyed the apples that came as a treat.
Easy tea of chicken pasta.
The anticipated pleasures of a new series of Shetland plus the final instalment of Mantel’s Wolf Hall series, love Mark Rylance.5 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had a banana and biscuit spread toastie for breakfast.
3) Went to the model railway shop to get some brick wall patterned paper (for a Christmas present project). The man gave it to me for nothing!
4) Went to a new (to me) cafe while I was in that bit of town. It was very New Age but the tea was nice.
5) B and Q for picture hanging materials and to look at door handles. How much?? Even the cheapest was £16.
6) M and S purely to use a money off voucher for tinned soup.
7) Mended then put up my new (charity shop) local engraving pictures.
8) Cleaned the dishwasher with the special stuff.
9) Spent an hour or so in the garden. Weeded all the little front garden, rehoming 3 toads and a frog at the back of the house so they can go to the lake, rather than into the road. Planted about 50 bulbs at the front.
Started weeding the back and raked all the beech leaves up into a bin liner to make some compost.
10) Tried to clean the tea stained thermos with vinegar and bicarb but I'm not convinced.
11) Tried to mend the spare room door handle but there is just nothing left for the screws to grip to. I have ordered some through bolts, which was cheaper than buying a whole new door handle.
12) Very large tea of roast veg and stuffing from the freezer plus chicken (for me) and shepherds pie (for smaller son). Then made an apple and blackberry crumble and custard.
13) Fireworks on every side of the house.
14) Looking forward to GBBO.
15) ETA - won £25 on the premium bonds! I have £100 in, given to me by my grandparents when I was born, so £25 isn't a bad win at all.

HappyCas I completely agree with the whole cooking thing, with the way the electric has gone up I’m not convinced any more. I think it's possibly healthier.
1 Created 6 tip bags of garden rubbish, a lot of pruning and mulching involved, and it took a lot longer than I thought.
2 A couple of errands run, prescriptions picked up, and Aldi for the weekly shop, but they didn’t even have milk!!! But they did have mince pies, the tasting of Ballycastle versus millionaires topping will begin soon. Also, I picked up plant troughs at half the price from summer.
3 Cooked up mince using a load of part used previous sauces which ended up tasting lovely, and some previous potatoes hoisted from the freezer. Leftovers for chilli, spag bol and a n other.
4 Snap on the pleasures with woodpeckers arriving for food.
5 Finally decided on the lounge floor, I priced up b and q and it was very overpriced. So, we looked at 2 Costco ones, and one looks kind of dirty on purpose and looking at a full room online is a definite no. So, we’ve decided and priced up and it seems to be better quality than b and q and less pennies.

Good morning! It was a long night! Dog was absolutely terrified of the fireworks and he’s never been to that extent. So we came upstairs ( and we could of course still hear them but he seemed slightly more settled and then some idiot set off more at 9.30pm ( very nearby) so that was the shaking started all over again.Anyway! For Tuesday.I had car going in for it’s MOT. Which thankfully it passed with no advisories. So dropped it off and walked the rest of the way into town.First stop was coffee shop that I never usually have time for as I’m always on a parking ticket! So went in and enjoyed a tuna croissant.
Popped down to the pharmacy for DD2 and went to the wee charity shop opposite and bought a wee pot for a pound.Walked back up the road, popped into workplace to pick something up and then continued up the hill…was rather boiling and overdressed by the time I got to car garage! There was a big pup already there so lots of doggy attention required!DD2 returned about 2.30pm and we took the dogs a big walk. We keep having to cross cross over the leads. My boy wants to stop and sniff. Hers wants to walk on but keeps walking through H lead! Anyway it was a dry /damp/grey afternoon but mainly it was dry so was pleasant for walking. And then the blooming bangs and booms started. Grrr.
i get that they are pretty and I’ve been to displays and went ooooh and aaah but when it’s going off left right and centre in gardens etc for hours. And you have animals who are blatantly terrified and you can’t explain to them what’s going on,or know how long it’s going to go on for.Anyway we are going to the CP this morning for a wee while. Today’s the only day I don’t have to be anywhere at a specific time. So once the rush hour traffic is past we’ll head down for a nice walk.Have a lovely day.7 -
For yesterday,
Making our morning pot of coffee and watching a mama blackbird take a bath.
Trying to avoid the wall to wall coverage of the U S election in the media.
More admin work done, documents sent off to HMRC and downloaded relevant form for a tax rebate.
Time at the yard where I can always switch off my mind and just be. The older I get the more I need to stop the noise.
Tuesday night and our Bake Off treat was a piece of the pecan brownie with blueberries, fruit portion and all that ☺️

Frith, congratulations on the PB win! That’s a fantastic return and I think you should treat yourself with it!Regarding cleaning your tea-stained thermos, why not try putting some warm water and some dishwasher powder inside it and leaving it to soak.I do this for cleaning hubby’s thermos mug and other crockery eg the slow cooker crock pot. Works a treat.4

Well! My day didn’t go as planned!Just after I wrote here this morning, DD2 called to say the chaps would be at her house at 9.15 and would I go with her.So she’d walked down here with pup ( who’s a big fully grown boy now) and we went over in my car, to let workmen in.
Then I dropped her off at hers thinking she was coming for pup and Hag and I would go to CP ourselves. But she came down in her car and said no, we’ll come with you and we went in her car. But she didn’t want to be there for too long as she had stuff to do ( whereas I would have been there a wee bit longer but not too long as I still had work to do)
Anyway, dogs had a good run around off lead, I see how fast her boy is and how my boy has slowed down though he still runs it’s just not with the same speed or power. We put them on lead to walk down the long driveway ( H would normally be off lead as he would just potter around sniffing but she was afraid her boy would run off) so I said they can get off lead on the way back up…got some lovely photos of them…all going well…and then Hag was rolling in something! Oh my goodness! Blooming badger poo! Absolutely covered in it and he kept rolling as we walked up the driveway! And for some reason I decided to smell it to see if it was something stinky! It was foul! (Duh! Of course it was!) got back to caravan and it was a to me to you! As I had to go in and get warm water ( and thank goodness mines not been switched off yet) and wear poo bags on my hands to try and clean him! His beautiful Harris Tweed collar absolutely covered!Managed to get the worst of it off and got him in the car ( phew that it wasn’t mine 😆after all!)
Home and escorted him round the back and I filled up watering can after watering can and told him he was lucky I have a hot and cold tap outside!! He doesn’t particularly like a bath but he was definitely getting one! And it brought back memories of fox poo gate from 2004 when both dogs we had were covered! And a hot wash for blanket, towels, harness, lead and collar!Chat to sister on phone.Anyway then there was more poop when I heard the news about Trump. Just why?
Lit the fire and was reminded of Sunday nights in the 70s when you’d have a bath and hair wash and sit in front of the fire watching the Onedin Line! As the dog sat in front of the fire drying off! He did that whilst I finished off my script. I’m happy with it and just hope the family are too.Found two sausages in the freezer and had them between 2 bits of sourdough toast. For my lunch/tea.
Then had scone from the freezer with jam for pud.
And I’ve came to bed as I’ve had enough today 😆7 -
I might give that a go, Marzipan.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Biscuit spread and banana toastie for breakfast. Not feeling very well today (smaller son slightly worse) so no cooking done today.
3) Walked into town and looked round all the charity shop but didn't see anything. Had a pot of tea in Costa. 6 miles altogether.
4) Was going to garden but it rained on and off. Started to tidy up a bit and played chess online.
5) Moved the PB win and a bit more into my savings account. I'm going to try and spend almost nothing in November so we can finally have a kitchen floor.
6) Contacted a tiler who is coming tomorrow. I can't imagine what the quote will be. He could say anything and I would just have to nod wisely!
7) The window cleaner is coming tomorrow. I have lived here 16 months and there are 2 that I can't reach that I don't think have been cleaned in years.
8) Listening to the commentary and our football team is winning 1-0 at half time.6
