Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) MrM was elsewhere so I went to Park Run for the first time in nearly 4 months. Nice to see everyone and I took some damson jam.
3) Someone at Park Run gave me a rake (this was prearranged!) and a bag of potatoes.
4) Went round the charity shop and bought 2 small engravings of local towns then a dress, thermal t shirt and a uniqlo pure wool jumper!
5) Went to look at the new bakers - very good - and bought 2 sausage rolls and 2 doughnuts.
6) Woke smaller son up then we went to the football. The striker has shaved his head! He was sporting almost a combover and he looks like a completely different man now. It ended in a draw.
7) Had to bring the cat in because of all the fireworks. She is changing between sitting on my knee and hiding behind the sofa.
8) Watching Strictly now.6 -
1 Did the tip run and seemed to hit the quiet spot.
2 Realising my car was looking unloved and in possibility of starting its own moss colonies I shampooed it, washed, jet washed and hoovered and hoovered some more.
3 Sat in the garden in the dark keeping an eye on the fuzzies playing until they ran inside.
4 All the animal bedding cleaned again.
5 Brokenwood mysteries, while reading in the ad breaks.

Up early and out with doggy (5am) hear someone being a bit noisy, thought it was maybe someone on their way home! So was a bit wary (but had a big noisy dog with me) turns out it was a jogger singing very loudly to AC/DC ‘Thunderstruck’ nanananana! He had headphones on so I don’t think he realised how loud he was!Went to garden centre for a cheese scone.Met mums NDN at supermarket so quick chat.Dog and I cuddled up on sofa and had a good snooze!Did a bit of catching up on watching stuff.Just been a very quick walk…raining!6

For yesterday,
Early trip to the farm shop for breakfast and pick up a few bits.
Popped a gammon joint into the slow cooker and made a loaf, light rye with mixed seeds. Lots of reading as well, more Christie with Three Act Tragedy.
Over to the yard, it was still raining when I brought my girlie in and she seemed to be looking longingly at her stable so popped her in, bit of a groom then hung a hay net up for her and sat on my grooming box to listen to the football. We won and are through to the next round of the cup. Something so cosy about being in the barn with the rain hammering on the roof and all the horses munching on their hay.
Home, make a quick glaze and roasted the ham in the oven to finish it off.
Watched the last two episodes of the Chelsea Detective which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, 🤞for series 3.

1 Laid in with no alarm, and a grilled bacon brekkie.
2 I forgot lunch, unheard of, but did have tea of bangers, always Cumberland, mash, and greens with gravy, using the water the greens were cooked in.
3 Planted another roughly 150 bulbs, all in individual holes, I can see the squirrels having a go, but touch wood so far may have got a bulb, but seems to have not bothered with the others,
4 I’ve found a couple of combat fitness classes that sound good, and what with it being the months when we cave to the Ballycastle mince pies and other things I think I might give them a go soon.

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Did a 6 hour shift today. There was free cake so I had a bit of that at lunchtime with a cup of tea. The shift passed uneventfully otherwise.
3) Helped smaller son change his bed and tidy his room a bit.
4) Have done all the washing up and washing.
5) Played some chess online.
6) Looking forward to Gone Fishing.
The fireworks are getting to be a pain now, and we have to keep bringing the ancient cat in, then putting her out again. Now she has disappeared completely, so smaller son is very anxious.5 -
Hello…can you hear that noise? No? Me neither! Aaaah to peace and quiet.
Up early. My lodgers got key to new temp accommodation which is not even 5 minutes walk away from here. So they were back and forth a few times taking their stuff there.Meanwhile I was wallpapering my bathroom. The wonkiest wall ever! But it’s done and it looks nice. And it’s only me that uses it so, so what if there’s a wonky bit!And a lovely quiet afternoon. Of doing not very much. Had hung a washing out but it was starting to rain so got that in. Hoovered and cleaned bathrooms.Watched a schmaltzy Christmas film…happy ending of course. And just adjusting to the quiet again. At one point all I could hear was the ticking of the clock …almost as quiet as being at the CP 😆
However we did meet up for a doggy walk. They were happy to see each other after 2 weeks of constant doggy company. Dark doggy walk with blooming fireworks going off. Grrrr. And the well, there’s no one else to consider, so lights off and doors locked and off to bed! With my room door left open ( how I like it)7 -
For yesterday,
Bit of a disturbed old night so it was nice to have a slow start with a cup of tea and reading in bed.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Pottering around in the garden, everything is going to sleep now and the beech trees are starting to blaze orange, a buzzard landed on the roof of the old barn and watched us for a bit.
No roast dinner today, instead I made sausage rolls, cheese scones and pecan chocolate brownies, along with the ham from the day before and various pickles this made for a nice high tea at 4pm. It’s something that my Grandma often did and she’s been very much on my mind recently.
Just stayed awake long enough to watch Gone Fishing before heading to bed.6 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Spent an hour or so peeling and coring a massive bag of windfall apples from my brother then stewing them and freezing bags for 7 crumbles (or pies).
3) Got house reasonably tidy.
4) Went to Lidl for bits and their mini pizzas.
5) Worked 4-8. 2 very stroppy men arrived to degrease the filters over the ovens. Very patronising and refused to listen to me when I told them they had to wear hats. I couldn't be bothered to argue in the end (and no one was actually using the kitchen where they were working) but then the manager appeared and shouted at them to put hats on and I mouthed "I told them...". I of course thought I would be dismissed immediately but manager strolled past 10 minutes later (presumably to enforce hat wearing) and gave me a little smile.
6) Looking forward to watching Gogglebox at 10.6 -
Well I think in the peacefulness of having my bedroom door open and no one else to worry about unlocked doors or things not switched off at walls or other toilet flushes etc etc…I slept like a relative log ( by my standards 😆)
Into town first thing for a mammogram in supermarket carpark.
Popped into nearby charity shop and purchased a little Christmas hangy thing for a pound…originally priced at £14.00 pfft!
Popped into work place for quick natter…and got another call an hour later with a new job…worth popping in then!Went to old work and had a fruit scone and a blether.
Quick dash to supermarket for mince.
Home…hello doggy.
Call with new job offer.Chat to sister as I hung out washing…she’s my work bestie!
Bye doggie I’m off to work.
Met a lovely family this afternoon.Home…made dinner and did a couple of work calls whilst it was cooking. Mince and tatties with veggies.
DD2 came for tea…chap had his to take away.
And sat and wrote for a couple of hours.Met DD2 half way to walk the dogs together. And bed …in the peace and quiet.8
