Pleasures for yesterday (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sanded the floor of the spare room. The question is - when to stop? Just polish the marks and paint splotches off or keep going?
3) Pulled the wallpaper off the ceiling in the bathroom. I had forgotten the scenes of devastation that you find underneath. It is going to take a lot of sanding and filling.
4) Bigger son popped in so I could have his house key and feed his cats while he is in Wales. He mended the spare room door handle for me and we had a cup of tea in the garden.
5) Not in chronological order now but went to B and Q for gloss for the windowsills, sealant for the last few skirting boards, sticky stuff to attach just 2 loose tiles in the bathroom and a paintbrush.
6) MrM came round for the England football match which I think we can say was pretty good! Went back to his house for a cup of tea. Accidentally woke up at 10.15 this morning.6 -
Me again!
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad night's sleep but different noises (especially traffic).
2) Bought a lampshade off FB marketplace. Very pleased to get it as it is 1960s and very similar to the other ones here (from a charity shop). The man selling it has emptied his parents' house into a storage unit and says it is all 1950 and 1960s things.
3) Ordered a wardrobe from Ikea as I haven't had one since dismantling my fitted wardrobe.
4) Popped home for a shower then back to MrM's for some nice lunch he had cooked while I was buying a lampshade.
5) Went to Sainsburys.
6) Made flatbreads for tea with kebab and salad.
7) Went to bigger son's to feed his cats.7 -
Hello. Up early and out early for a nice walk. Watched the sunrise.
Another quiet day. Pup dropped off.I’m speaking at friends wedding so I wrote my words. She’s happy with them. Got a lovely message back from her.
Had toast and jam.Nipped to supermarket once pup was picked up for his walk. And picked up a book from the charity shelf.
Washing out and dried…has been dull but dry.Chat to sister in morning and SIL in afternoon.Watched the sad episode in Greys Anatomy when one of the main characters dies (sobbed even though I’ve already seen it and knew it happened)
Started book.Pup collected.
Had a scotch pie and beans for tea.Did a lot of sighing at the lack of information as to what is happening with house sale ( buyers buyers buyer) and people asking any news? Nooooo! I’ll tell you when there is! I’ll be shouting about it!7 -
Everyone needs some sodditry time Amps
For yesterday.
Trip into horsey town for a food shop, we have guests over the weekend so a few treats into the trolley too.
The rest of the morning was spent in the garden, tackled the never ending pulling up of bindweed, cut back the encroaching grass and used some of the fronds with roses for a flower display in house. Some of my salad leaves have started to bolt so will need to sow replacement seeds over the weekend but will leave them for time being as the hover flies seem to like the flowers. Tomatoes are still green but with some sun forecasted for the second half of July am hopeful to be eating them by August, gave them and everything else a seaweed feed.
Time spent with the beautiful grey one, she was fine and happy to stand to be pampered.
Listening to TMS on the way home and oh my to the standing ovation given to Mr James Anderson on his appearance to bat, something in my eye…..
Monthly trip to the vets for small dog, more painkillers subscribed and like PK we are staggering under the cost of treatments but she is the apple of our eyes so we will do what is needed, who needs a holiday anyway!

Pleasures for Wednesday
1. walk in the park and, most importantly, a coffee with friend
2. then nipped back quick for a doctor's appointment which brought good news (nothing major, just an ongoing infection that appears to have cleared now)
3. hair cut - it's been 12 weeks! And still the last bit of hair dye is clinging on
4. shopping for DD's birthday. Happy with my purchases
5. football. Ollie bloomin Watkins, as a villa 'fan' (kinda) i can say "That's what he does"
and yesterday
1. sleeping well, especially as OH and DS are away. I usually do not when alone
2. another tutorial tutorialed
3. lunch with another friend - i need to find my role in this semi-semi retirement rather than just lunches and coffees. But it's very nice for now.
4. wagas with DD
5. Then to the theatre - to see "My son's a queer but what can you do?". Brilliant and funny
I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Hello.Well for a change I slept till 5.50am…poor dog must have been starving!Pup dropped off, walked and collected.Phoned estate agent to see if they had any idea what was happening…it’s not really their domain now as it’s the solicitors turn. Anyway found out what the holdup was. And just need to wait and see what transpires in the coming week. Still sighing deeply. And wondering how patient my sellers will continue ( or not) to be.
Quick call to sister. The sun came out…and then would hide again in the clouds but it’s been a pleasant day.Picked up another book on charity shelf and have been reading that this afternoon/evening.Picked up an olio order…the requested veg and fruit was already taken but did get some cookies that had been £5.00! A very nice lady with a very nice cat was giving them away.A pleasant evening reading with the patio doors open.

Good evening
Twice this year I've washed and put away the extra fleece throw for the bed. Tonight I got it out again. It's freezing!
Mhagster - I had to give up on the rewatching of Grey's Anatomy. It's even worse when you know someone is going to die ( even without the heavy hint of Coldplay!) Especially when it's a favourite someone.
Not much happening this week.
Really need to tidy the garden but it's either raining or too wet cos it's been raining. The weeds are definitely taking advantage of that.
DD came for tea tonight as fiance is away on his stag do. Lovely to see her for a natter.
DGD is 4 tomorrow so we're popping round with her present in the morning. Nothing else much planned this weekend. Gardening?
Am reading the first Jackson Brodie book. Thought I'd read it before but it's not ringing any bells yet. Perhaps an advantage of getting old will be being able to read all my favourite books again, and not knowing what's going to happen next.
Happy weekend everyone

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the coffee morning at the local theatre. We didn't play chess but had a quiz instead.
3) Fed bigger son's cats.
4) Went to the nearest Waitrose and did the crossword and had a pot of tea.
5) Did about 2 hour of sanding and scraping old paint off the bathroom ceiling.
6) Painted the window reveals again. All done now. (Except smaller son's room but he doesn't want the disruption).
7) Glossed 5 windowsills.
8) Cut about 20cm of smaller son's hair.
9) Cleaning up after all the painting and sanding took about 2 hours. Done now. No more DIY until next week.
10) Watched Gogglebox.5 -
For yesterday,
Boiled egg and marmite soldiers for breakfast.
Speed cleaning of bathrooms and hoovering of house ably assisted by Capt S.
DSS & lovely fiancé arrived and after a quick chat we headed off to the races for the afternoon, no winners for me but others troubled the bookmakers, thoroughly enjoyable time with people I love.Home, tired but happy and small dog was pleased to see us.
Decided against going out for something to eat so cobbled together some food and we had an evening at home, playing games and much laughter.8 -
goodness where did the week go. last post was the 7th! so the best news is
1) ill doggie has got his appetite back at last! (he is still very skinny and the vet has put him on steroids but he is definitely looking much happier)
2) watching Engerland with DrM - I was one of three England supporters in a pub full of Scots - loud cheer when NL scored, total silence when we did, but all very good humour after and, as i said to one friend in his NL shirt, you have another game to support the other team 😋
3) Sarah Millican with colleague after work on Thursday - sooooo funny - mum said 'would i have enjoyed it?' i said if you'd have gone with (named best friend) yes if you'd have been sat next to me no!
4) drinks for DrM's birthday
5) and for today (Saturday i know) a one day conference. we have been invited for dinner and i did manage to catch the end of the ladies' final during the tea break.
