Pleasures for yesterday (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had a lovely time at Park Run. Bumped into someone I did a college course with in 2010! Nice to chat with her. Good food and birthday cake. Everyone very jolly.
3) Pottered around the house later and cleaned the bathroom.
4) My brother came to watch the football. A friend from Park Run came to deliver his car keys (its a long story involving lifts and cars today), just as normal time ended at 1-1. Penalties were tense.
5) I cooked a huge tea! Pork, roast potatoes, carrots, braised red cabbage, stuffing then apple and blackberry crumble and custard plus my brother brought Eton Mess.
6) I phoned my school friend and we talked for more than 2 hours.
7) Still feeling much better after my doctor/pharmacist trips on Tuesday.6 -
A quiet day. Up early.Picked up an olio order from a local chap…but he ended up giving me double of everything as he had so much! Got 2 bags of lemons, 2 bags of oranges, 2 loaves of sourdough that I’ve sliced up and put in freezer, 2 packs of almond croissants ( freezer) and 2 packs of cinnamon swirls ( one in my tummy rest in freezer) nice chatter and nice walk.Met friend on walk home so had a nice chatter. Then a nothing much kind of day. Started a book and sat out in the garden to read. This is the first time in weeks it’s been decent enough to sit outside!Had cheese on toast for lunch in the garden and tea was leftover same as last night.8

Quick pleasures
1) gbf - he has been round to hand feed / administer water with oral syringe though is now wondering if doggie is playing him 🤣
2) haircut - had to miss last one and since hairdresser now only does one day a week due to college wasn't able to get a replacement so Saturday's cut doubly wonderful!
3) Balgay - my absolute favourite place. xoh was up for friend's memorial and we had a lovely walk round Balgay
4) the memorial - what a lovely send off to one of the University's most cited emeritus professors
5) the football - mrg refuses to watch England but DrM did tthen DrM and I went to our respective homes for supper and joined MrG for the 2nd half of the Netherlands game. xoh had come for the england game but could not watch the pentalties (old style England supporter!)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) At my friend's house for 8.30 and drove several people off to Shropshire for a 10km race.
3) We waved our friends off then one chap (wearing jeans, t shirt and normal trainers) decided he would run anyway so followed them and did pretty well!
4) We had a picnic then sat in the social club as the rain rolled in.
5) Got home then walked to town and back (4 miles).
6) Made a wrap for tea with LO pork etc. Then had pineapple upside down cake and custard.

We were able to talk with the vet yesterday, Fuse’s abscess is directly on his prostate, after his initial emergency surgery, we treated with various antibiotics for 5 months, but they haven’t cleared the infection. We did our best to avoid surgery, but it looks like that is the primary option now, and as it’s very complex its very possible it will need to be done at the veterinary college in London. It’s in the vets’ hands for now, and we need to prepare for the estimate, but in effect he’s a healthy animal with an issue, he’s not a sick animal where we would question it. We have a 2 week wait while Fuse isn’t on any meds now to see how he is, and then I think we try.
1 I did a look around at things we can sell, but all our things are lower value rather than high, it was worth a look.
2 Dinner is pizza with a few added toppings, admittedly freezer to oven.
3 As if Fuse is aware, he clambered up, and I’m wearing a soft feel cardigan, and he curled up in it with his head in my hand aaaawwww. I’m giving extra food to him to try and bolster him up over the next couple of weeks.
4 The washing is up to date, but the drying is all over the house.
5 Lovely to have thunder and lightning, as it normally misses us.

For yesterday,
Wasn't feeling 100% so just a quiet day at home.
Long soak in the bath and read my book.Watched and the enjoyed the Rise of Skywalker film, hadn’t seen it before and we must have recorded around Christmas time!
Evening walk and we could see storm clouds fast approaching, just got in when the heaven’s opened, thunder, lightning the lot.
Can’t think of #5 so will bank.7 -
Another day in Quietsville but at least the sun was shining.
Up early and we were at the beach for about 5.50am…could just have easily rolled back to sleep but made myself get up ( it’s a 20-25 minute drive) and then when we got there I just thought wow!And then it’s been a quiet day at home. Finished library book thinking it was mobile library week but that’s next week ( I was on holiday/chap was on holiday so I’d got muddled up)
Was out on garden sofa for a while then I get too warm.Had cheese on toasted free sourdough for lunch then tuna baked potato (potato from my Lidl fruit and veg box last week) for tea.8 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep and a slow start of sitting in bed playing on my phone! (Have a sore throat and a tiny cough).
2) Phoned the police to see if my friend's phone has been handed in. (It hasn't).
3) Walked into town.
4) Went to the Job Centre as DWP suddenly asked for 4 months of bank statements and my phone is too old to cope with the First Direct app or PDFs or anything else. I thought it might be a big deal for the staff to deal with in person but she said it was fine and they do it all the time.
5) Had a pot of tea in M and S and looked at the forthcoming friendly matches for our football team. One is in Cardiff during the England Euro match on Wednesday so no one will go to that! Also reinstated a DD that had bounced. Financial situation still dire. Thanks, MrU...
6) Popped in to the charity shops on my walk home but didn't see anything.
7) Spent an hour or so sanding the third bedroom. My tiny sander eventually failed and is beyond repair. It was well worth the £25 as it sanded filler in every surface across the house, all the woodwork and 4 lots of floor boards.
8) Then painted the woodwork in that room.
9) Will watch part 2 of the Turkish Detective this evening. I sat through part 1 but the acting was very wooden.7 -
I’ve been through checking what we can readily cobble together via quidco etc, and it comes to a couple of hundred not to be sneezed at. I will pull it together and put it into an account I’ve set up for Fuse, only thousands to go. We will in the meantime keep plodding together what we can. I have to say the scrap gold and proper jewellery that was burgled would have come in handy now.
1 We had a call from the vets who’ve agreed with the vet’s college to pop him on antibiotics for 8 weeks, we have all sorts riding on the outcome, so we have everything crossed for a long time. The vet who is dealing with us is on holiday, so we also need to send chocolates to him as he really is going above and beyond, we are very grateful.
2 A sneaky one for yesterday, I watched the Grand Prix, the last time I watched it the Schumachers were in it.
3 Popped to Aldi, I think we were lucky as everything we needed was marked to either 50 or 30 percent off, very appreciated,
4 Numerous animal bedding wash loads, hanging around the house drying, a load of clothes waiting but with nowhere to dry yet.
Saving 5 as it's not readily available.

For yesterday,
A bright, sunny start to the day so line loaded up with washing to make the most of it.
Lots of dead heading done and I will need to cut back one of the ornamental grasses soon as it’s being a bit of a thug, I have a courgette flower as well, whoop whoop!
The swallows have obviously had another brood of chicks as I can hear a lot of tiny cheeps coming from the nest site.
Over to see my girl as she had the farrier coming, she dozed in the sun while he did what he had to do and reported that all was well with her feet.
Salmon for tea followed by strawberries & Greek yoghurt.8
