We just found Christmas pud in the cupboard :-) it!!!8217;s only small but perfectly formed. And soon it will be an ex-Christmas pud. Happy snow day everyone
I notice only 2 games in league 2 bop hatters in one and mariners in the other. What were the chances!

  • 5 Had another satfest. Best back and snorker. Fried bread, poached egg, baked beans, grilled toms. Tea was drunk.

4 Popped into town, and there is no bread! Everyone looks like they are on an alpine adventure!

3 Now having digestive biscuit with some lemonade!

    PM2DD ...

If I was there, I’d be making them walk home!
  • 1) The snow has nearly cleared which makes moving around outside much easier.

    2) Nice walk with Cookie after lunch and it started to rain which will clear the last patches of snow from lawns and grass verges.

    3) DD1 singing with the choral society in a big concert this evening, depleted choir because outlying areas are heavily snowed in still and likely a reduced audience for the same reason but the concert goes ahead anyway. I opted not to travel and lovely James is going to use my ticket so it won't be wasted, hope he enjoys the music.

    4) House looks so clean and tidy, I'm keeping it that way too hopeful of a buyer fairly quickly.

    5) My friend Sue who moved to Cornwall in the Autumn has posted a lovely picture of Charlie retriever with snow on his nose, made me happy!

    Pleasures for today (Saturday).

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) It is now 9.10 and my parents have been travelling for just over 11 hours. Lots of trains, lots of waiting and (last phone call) they were in Temple Meads with Worcester looking possible. There were not supposed to be any Bristol trains from Exeter and it has made mum's day that one was suddenly laid on while she was in the toilet and she got a tannoy message calling her to this new train that dad had got on - and they held the train for her!!

    3) Above freezing for much of the day. More snow over night so a good 25cm everywhere with drifts still of up to 1 metre. Hens much happier though still staying in their sleeping quarters and a little robin went up their ramp and into the pen to eat their food!

    4) Bigger son had cabin fever all day but has cycled to the nearest town now to see a friend.

    5) Tasty tea of stir fry made up by the village butchers. Just fried it and added rice.

    6) Tidied my room - all dusting, wardrobes tidied etc.

    7) Just watched Casualty.

Birthday celebrations for most of day. My baby is 18. My baby is currently out & about & has been told not to wake me!

Morning spent tidying ...any excess chucked in the ensuite or cupboard under stairs!

Made very tasty carrot cakes this morning with a new to me recipe. Had made meringues & cupcakes yesterday. Teeny tiny cake from M&S meant we all had the tiniest piece each! Much chatter & laughter with friends. Nice to see them & share our day after years of being overseas.

Haggis enjoyed all the attention .

Little great niece good fun except at bedtime as she 'couldn't (wouldn't) sleep. Rather tough love from Great Auntie I'm afraid! She's asleep now! Told ya!

Nice chat with friend on phone the past hour , we had just had a brief chat this afternoon .
  • Hi all,

    Saturday pleasures:-

    1. Paid the milkman - I know, I know an odd pleasure :) but I dislike owing money even if it is only for a few weeks:)

    2. Lovely call from BHF - apologising for booking incorrect collection date (booked me on the wrong collection route) and bringing it forward to the 12th - she was gobsmacked when I told her she had made my day. What I didn’t explain was that on that same date the council are collecting several large items - so loads of space will be created - and the new carpets are being fitted in the spare room & along the landing & stairs.

    3. Dinner of oven chips, baked beans, last of the mushrooms, bacon & fried eggs. Mr A’s extra special back bacon met with DH’s approval - it might cost a bit more but there is minimal shrinkage:T & I kept the yolks intact on the fried eggs:j

    4. Getting ready for our trip to Dublin:j:T

    5. DH & I both won £25 on the Premium Bonds:T not enough to retire on but oh wait, we are already retired:rotfl:

    6. Reading your pleasures.

    1. Met a friend for coffee in the village. Nice chat and lovely cake. It's a small independent shop.

    2. Went to post office which has recently been renovated and now sells some food and it looks much bigger.

    3. When I walked to coffee shop met a couple of people I hadn't seen in ages(years) so had a quick catch up.

    4. Went for a walk with my friend. The sun was out and a lovely day.It was good seeing the village through other eyes.

    5. When DH came home we went to London for a walk round. Went to the national portrait gallery. We saw a couple of rooms DH enjoys in small quantities.

    Saturday pleasures,

Woke up to more snow, looking down on the garden from upstairs you could see all the animal tracks coming in from the field.

Soon joined by a family of partridges, pretty birds and love the funny noises they make. We also have had field fares so everything seems to be struggling to find something to eat, our bird seed bill will be large!

Made a packed lunch for Capt S and eldest as they were going to footie but DSS cried off after sleeping through alarm, suspect copious amounts of alcohol were involved! speaking of footie pleased to see that the U’s held the high flying hatters to a draw after many volunteers worked hard to get pitch ready. Ian Darler and his crew rightly received man of the match award!

Went to W8rose for supplies and many shelves bare, especially in veg section, did pick up some spring greens and gloriously pink forced rhubarb.

Watched latest instalment of M Renard, Capt S pleased as Samual Adams were on special offer at emporium so he enjoyed a wobbleade.

    Good Morning,

Still thick snow here, misty and beautiful, but I can hear dripping, so the thaw is on the way.

    1. Forgot to mention that the emergency plumber came on Friday afternoon and fixed the boiler. My hero :A

    2. Sore throat slowly improving.

    3. Half price tiles in Homebase and cheap wine in Mr A.

    4. FaceTime with DD. Too snowy to ski in The Alps!

    5. BoP Discussion on Weekend Woman’s Hour about dieting.....cheered when the academic from Bham Uni said dieting was proven to be waste of time, fake food was money making industry, and we should just eat ‘PROPER FOOD’. :j

    6. So much taxiing of young people this week!...... Finally managed a glass of red wine and lasagne last night :D. And binge watching of Jamestown, before it disappears.

    Have a lovely day. :)

DFV just been out for a post snow perusal of the garden and all the fronds on bronze fennel have disappeared, together with new shoots on the chives and what was left of the parsley. Can only imagine how sweet and herby some burrows must smell!
