5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Morning all.
Feel as if I'm starting to come back into the land of the living after a rotten weekend. Finished up narrowly escaping being admitted into hospital but now taking three (!) antibiotics and using antibiotic ointment. Whatever bit me was carrying something very, very nasty. It's a long time since I have felt so dreadful.
Some pleasures:
1) Mightily glad I dodged a hospital stay eventhough feeling pretty grim on the strong meds, at least I am at home in my own bed.
2) Some of the worst effects are already subsiding thankfully.
3) Prompt and effective care from the NHS, lovely doctor who really listened and took a belt and braces approach.
4) Up and about for some of they day, gently pottering and starting to notice things that need doing so definitely on the mend!
5) My bairn's birthday tomorrow so thankful that I was organised and had sorted card and pressies well in advance.
Hope everyone is ok, will read back and catch up.8 -
Picking up a new car tomorrow, so went out for a drive today and managed to run the petrol down to about 1/4 tank 👍4

Hope you are on the mend now, Highdays.
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) More test results back and not only am I anaemic (as usual) but now mysteriously have a vitamin D deficiency. Popped to Boots for more iron (had to order online in the end) and some vitamin D.
3) Went to Waitrose for a cup of tea.
4) Pulled the rawl plugs from the wall where the fitted wardrobe used to be then set to with the polyfiller again.
5) Spent a long time in the garden. Cleared a big patch by the rhubarb and planted 3 courgette, complete with empty water bottle "greenhouses". Made another strip of border. Weeded generally.
6) Did a load of washing and some tidying. The house is in a mess with my room waiting to be sanded and half my stuff in the spare room.
7) Pittas for tea again.
8) On my way home, just past the mill (to remind me if I read this back in the future!) 2 teenagers in school uniform were standing on the pavement, waving at drivers and pointing at a deep puddle. No one deviated. I made eye contact with them and they kept pointing so I drove through it and soaked them and they were absolutely delighted! It made me laugh the rest of my drive home.7 -
Pleasures for last few weeks
1. DS2 finally able to start weight bearing on his left leg. Physio commencing to build muscle and get movement in the knee.
2. Thankful for the NHS and the amazing things that they can do.3. Now Divorced and settlement complete.
4. Put an offer in on a house which has been accepted- keeping my fingers crossed it all goes through. Monthly payments will be more than rent due to my age but it will be mine.5. Good Friends and family.6. DS2 & fiancé’s wedding- the sun was shining.
7. Off to Norway for another wedding in a few weeks.7 -
For yesterday,
The biggest and best first, DSS2 and lovely gf video called from their holiday to say that they were engaged ❤️ lovely, lovely news and we couldn’t be more pleased.
A baby woodpecker in the branches of the apple tree patiently waiting while it’s parent attacked the fat balls.
Quick food shop then into the garden, tomatoes transplanted into the bed alongside their marigold mates, picked a few salad leaves and more earthing up of the pots.
Gave the beautiful grey one and my mate’s mare their medication then a long groom for Missy before turning out, started raining on the way home so pleased I’d popped her dry fly rug on.
Tasty tea, baked feta with toms, peppers and onions then swirled in cooked spaghetti, yum. Disappointing night cricket wise as rain stopped play.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) A bright, sunny day, though cold at times.
2) Worked as an invigilator but also for 3 hours as a guard! I had to supervise one student who had had an exam clash so we sat in an art room and read magazines and had some lunch.
3) Popped to Lidl for milk.
4) Had a very quick clean round the house which was in a terrible mess as my time has been spent gardening, smashing a fitted wardrobe up and pulling up carpet. I managed to put all washing away, empty the dishwasher, clean the surfaces in the kitchen, hoover downstairs and clean the sink and toilet, all in less than half an hour!
5) Picked up MrM and we had pizza and 2 games of chess. We saw a fox in the garden and a badger on the way home. We are now just friends again, which is much less stressful. The only time I thought he forgot, he was peeling my sock off to assess the state of my blisters!
Going to attempt to have an early night now.7 -
Good morning! I’m just home after a few days away. Don’t really like to advertise that my house is empty!! ( though even emptier than normal 😆)
This was supposed to be a pre move few days away and was non refundable and non date changeable so off we went!Lovely accommodation. Had everything I’d need. Took food with me. And enjoyed nice meals .
DD2 popped in most days.Tuesday Tea friends came for TT with a difference and they were in the hot tub…I just sat on a chair and blethered whilst they bubbled.I’m not a fan of the hot tub went in on the first day and thought nah don’t need to again! We had lots of lovely doggy walks. We had visits from ducks of all shapes and sizes. As I drove out this morning ( at 6am) I said goodbye to the herons and the swans and the ducks. And as I drove home I saw 2 hares. Most beautiful drive home this morning. All the weathers! oh my goodness! Thunder , hail, much rain lots of wind, sunny and bright in between but blooming chilly! All dog walks done with a long coat and a pair of boots…and as I dashed out on the way in my sandals and sunglasses I thought should I take my wooly hat…oh don’t be silly and spent the next 3 days wishing I had a hat!Took 3 books and did not read one word! Just watched stuff! There was the hugest telly! I don’t have a television any more and it always surprises me that they can be so HUGE!!And I’m back so early as I have work this morning. So needed to get home and get myself sorted for that.Catch up later ( I do miss posting daily but it was the first time the house had been left on its own…though it did have viewers and cleaner was in)8 -
Glad you had a good time away Mhags
For yesterday,
Sunny but bbbrrr cold first thing, jeans and jumper on as certainly not a flaming June yet!
A number of small jobs ticked off to do list inc cleaning out cutlery drawer, oh the glamour ☺️Sitting in a sheltered spot on the back door step, cuppa in hand and face up to the sun. Small dog laid down and promptly fell asleep with her head on my foot so there I stayed until the foot had gone numb, she is so precious.
With my other precious girl and more attempts at dressage on the ground, trouble is she is a bundle of energy and the trick will be to harness all of that energy into the movements, easier when in the saddle!
Easy tea of cold chicken wedges and HM slaw.7 -
Pleasures for today.
Beautiful sunrise.Beautiful last walk…hello herons, hello ducklings, hello swans.Beautiful drive home. Saying goodbye herons, ducklings and swans. And oooh a hare and oooh another one!And home. Sigh!Washing on and washing out and washing probably had about 32 rinses today as it has just lashed and lashed in between the sunny spells! Eventually got it in dry.
Chat to sister this morning to say I was home.Drove to work. I get so anxious beforehand then I’m fine when I’m there. Got the most amazing feedback today. Wow! Quite blown away. Was kindly invited to the tea afterwards ( friends) and said oh can I just nip home and feed the dog! So quick home and quick change then over to the tea…was lashing on way in and needed sunglasses on way out! Met a few people I knew and met a few new people!Dropped someone off with my sunglasses on then went to supermarket and wished I had at least a jacket…lashing!Treated myself to my post service treat which is chocolate! And a lovely bunch of RTC peonies.Quick chat to DD2 and my sister, who always likes to know how things went.Made my tea…with sprouts , peas and sweetcorn! had a RTC chicken thingy.Hoping to sleep well tonight! Well I’m hopeful every night 😆 just doesn’t always work that way!I wonder how I’ll feel tomorrow? Should be move day but it’s not!9
