Morning everyone.
Had a bleurgh couple of days, feeling a bit mardy and not in the mood for anything much, most unlike me. Lots to do and feeling a bit bogged down, not with major stuff but lots of little niggles. Will give myself a shake and a talking to today and try to get a bit more organised and get more done.
Anyway, enough. Some pleasures:
1) Have sorted a weekend away in June with brothers and wives to celebrate hubby's birthday. He's so good to eveyone we need to make a fuss of him now and then!
2) Boys are in the middle oif A Levels and GCSEs. Taking it all in their stride and coping well, the pleasure is they'll soon be over but we have a very positive mental attitude towards exams in this house, passed down from my dad who told us, when we were young, it is your chance to go and tell them everything you know - so no exam fears here.
3) A very positive appointment with the dermatologist earlier in the week. Finally they agree with my diagnosis, so refreshing when someone actually listens, and I have three lots of treatments to grapple with. Back in two months but can see improvement already. Hmm, just typing that I'm wondering if one or other of the tablets have something to do with feeling a bif off it.....
4) Reading a really lovely book at the mo. Not my usual 'heavy' reading but with a bit of substance to it and very well written. 'The Night in Question' by Susan Fletcher - only half way through so can't vouch for the ending (hate a damp one) but so far so good, certainly suits my mood at the moment.
5) Quite enjoying the freezer challenge of using up odds and ends. Some lovely plaice for tea last night that I'd forgotten about, mixed grill tonight using up odd bits of steak, bacon, sausages and a lone chop. Will have with fried eggs and tomatoes, chips and peas. Yummy.
Right, about to slap on a hair pack and face pack which will then give me a sneaky half hour with my book.
Have a good day.

The Wake has Started
Jenny had her checkup today. She’s had it, she is to be ripped out soon and replaced. BuZB is to be fitted afterwards. Jenny did quite well, getting 12 years of ticking about, but her battery is low, her umph about finished. Please gather your thoughts for BoPsie!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!10 -
She's done well for 12 years, BoP.
Pleasures for yesterday (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Walked 4 miles.
3) Had a pot of tea in M and S. The nice lady who works there asked very many questions about MrU. I think she was surprised by my answers. I haven't really told anyone what he was like.
4) Did various jobs round the house including sorting the recyling and cleaning the kitchen bin out.
5) Repotted some plants.
6) Went to Cirencester because my brother was working there. Had a 2 mile walk and found 2 geocaches.
Pleasures for today (Thursday) - so far.
1) Not a great sleep as I've cricked my neck!
2) Went to the local shopping centre to have my eyebrows done after slightly too long a break! Also, no more beard.
3) Went to the local special needs college for a pot of tea and a brownie (the food is excellent there).
4) B and Q for caulk, paint and sweet pea plants.
5) Spent 2 hours cleaning woodwork in the living room and dining room, ready for sanding then glossing.
6) Popped to Sainsburys with smaller son.
7) Watching Race Across the World now.9 -
PP & Jen think of all the love ❤️ you have shared on here over the years! It’s the most gorgeous evening after a pretty nondescript kind of day! Sun is shining and sky is now blue. When I called my sister this afternoon it was rainy.
Anyway up early. Beautiful sunrise.
Stripped bed and hurrah I remade it this afternoon!Started packing and packing and packing! I’ve got about 3 different boxes in 3 different rooms on the go!Did a bit of work. Sent off draft script which has been approved. This makes me happy. It’s always a bit yikes when I send it off!
Got my very grotty wheelie bin washed ( first time in ever!!) so it will be clean for new folk!Went to supermarket. Got a book from charity shelf.Phoned sister …saying it’s rainy and my bedding’s on the line! Waah! But it dried up!
Bit more packing ( whilst waiting nervously for feedback)
Had a sock cull. I have one pair of feet! The amount of socks I have was ridiculous!I now have a capsule wardrobe! For the next couple of weeks! Wash and wear! Everything else is packed away!
Made sausage rolls which were absolutely fabulous! And had them with beans for my tea!Popped something for free on local FB a page which a neighbour asked for and so went straight down with it so it was out my house and had a nice chatter. And heading back up to pack a bit more! Honestly it’s never ending …and I then have to unpack it all in a few weeks! Next time ( if there is ever a next time I’ll pay for a packing service! )9 -
sending hugs to Jenny and Bopsie
I too had a sock cull mhags but I fear they will breed when my back is turned
1) a lovely sunny day
2) a trip to the dentist - just x-rays and a scale - then she (new young dentist) looked at the x-rays 'your teeth are very strange look' a tour round my teeth 'do you mind if i show the x-rays to other dentists'. the good news is nothing more needed doing
3) our first unit has twinned all their toilets (4) - this has made me very happy - i have asked her to get in contact with our marketing guy
4) went to my on campus secret office - they have moved out which is OK as still one desk there but then horror they've moved the kettle! found somewhere else with very nice kitchen (had taken milk, tea and coffee)
5) footie with DrM. poor Norwich, didn't stand a chance. MrG is away so we went rogue and did Thursday night instead of Wednesday night 😋

Well played Jenny, you’ve done a stirling job.
For yesterday,
Into horsey town for a food shop, dodging puddles as I went, the strings heading up to the gallops looked suitably wet & miserable.
Small dog had a hydrotherapy session, discussed the ups & downs of last few days with physio, the joys of having an old dog I guess. My little girl did well and always looks so cute in her spa robe.
Quick lunch then out to see my big girl, still raining hard so bit of pampering then rugged her before turning out. Picked a few bits of cow parsley for her as very good for horse digestion, then the rain stopped and Mum changed her mind about which rug she should be wearing so a quick change in her field into a waterproof fly rug. She’s used to my dithering by now.
One of the villages on the way home has a very large green and they always do a no mow May so swathes of yellow buttercups and daisies.
Fascinated by a woman enjoying an evening walk with a very big, fluffy cat around the field behind the cottage. Not seen her before and yes, it was definitely a cat and no, I hadn’t had any wine!9 -
Good thoughts for BoP, Jenny and BoPsie.
Pleasures recently
A fABBAulous (🙄sorry! 🤣) time in London. It all worked like clockwork. ABBA was amazing - I literally couldn't believe my eyes; wildlife photographer of the year and then Operation Mincemeat. All brilliant. Train journeys went without a hitch and the hotel was perfect!
met up with friends on Wednesday for a walk with their doggy. I do love other people's dogs, just don't want one of my own. Back to theirs for an excellent as always lunch
DS has got it all sorted to start as an apprentice train driver in 4 weeks time 🥳 something he's wanted to do since he was a very little boy.
Met up with friend for coffee in the only 'window' i had available.
the next batch of marking has been started (always the most difficult part). I'm up against it and may even have to pull an 'all-nighter' at some point to get it done in time (for me to go on holiday, but still...).
Have a fab day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
She’s done well BOP, hope it all goes well.
For yesterday
Hmm, not the best day for new outgoing's money wise, the car insurance is what it is after checking about, okay, I mean in fairness it’s a bit less than last year but still a lot.
Then today my front tooth veneer fell off, ah fine I phoned the dentist just as they had a cancellation if I could get there in 10 minutes flat no problem, what I was expecting to be easy wasn’t and as they x rayed. It was then I remembered the intense pain I had last week which I guessed was an abscess bursting right above it, its mainly destroyed, the only way forward is now a crown, it’s not NHS…. As it’s the very front tooth I feel self-conscious, so it is a cost that needs to happen so it’s booked in for next week as the veneer won’t hold on much longer, I am so glad we are frugal and this site keeps us on track, as there have been so many issues this year that we have had to use 2 years budget. We now need to re-build funds, but we have been able to cope – touch wood.
1 Got on and planted about half of the plants up, hope to finish it off tomorrow.
2 Thankful for a temp fix on my tooth, but very aware of the encroaching new cost now.
3 HM spaghetti bolognaise for tea.
4 Very aware of my pre op tomorrow, trying not to stress.
5 I asked if we could arrive a day earlier for camping, to make it a long weekend with the organisers who know us and they were fine with it, I welped as we could do with it now.

For Friday! Woke up super early even by my standards! Couldn’t get back to sleep so just got up. We were out a lovely walk at 4.15am just us and the birds! Then I was like a woman possessed! Hoovered. Washed floors. Cleaned stove top ( took all the wee bits off to clean) and it looks much better. Kitchen is now empty apart from my one plate/one cup etc!Went to garden centre for a cheese scone only they were cheese & chive! Oh no! The disappointment 😆 still ate it! Chatter with a couple of the staff that work there.
Then went to friends to drop off something as they live on the way back from garden centre. Well we sat and blethered for 2 hours!Dropped off bag of stuff at charity shop on my way through town. Had a peruse and got a pair of shorts and a lovely white linen teeshirt.Home. Hello doggy…and oh hello pup who arrived just after I did!I’ve sat out in garden for a while. Reading. Admiring my garden ( thinking I’m going to miss you garden but I’ll have a new one that’s an absolute blank canvas)
Had quiche and salad in the garden.
Pup picked up.And back out in the garden!10 -
1 The pre-op went fine, the second surgery is all booked in.
2 While I was in the hosp, which is across the road from the vets, another of the fuzzies was being diagnosed, and a long-term implant popped in, stopped in from the hosp for a chat and to pay the bill. Now we have to get him through the flare, we will try!
3 Home to the wash roll around, all the animal bedding is done each Friday and needs to be without fail, pleasure when done.
4 Planted out the rest of the flowers and sunflowers and put giant sunflower seeds into start.
5 Trying a pork, chilli and mature cheeseburger picked up from C0stco, cooking up as tonight’s meal, with some jalapeño poppers and dips.
