Hello
Up early and had a lovely doggy walk …we may not have seen the northern lights but we saw a most beautiful sunrise.
Called sister then DD2 called me …all before 8am!
Did a bit of weeding and emptying tubs in garden bin. Whilst it was still cool.
Popped to supermarket for cans of caffeine free DC
Then out in to the garage. Popped a bag of stuff someone was collecting at the front door. Then sorted a huge pile that is getting collected on Tuesday.
Out in garden for a wee while but then it got too warm for me so went in. DD2 had popped over to pick more stuff up. Had a lie down.Made sausages for tea that were in the fridge to be used up. I made them in the airfryer but enough folks around were barbecue-ing!In the garage today I found a bag of coins. Mix of UK/euros and Australian. So took the bag of UK with me and bought some icecream and maltesers! Thanks son!And just sitting in the garden but the midges will be out soon so I’ll need to go in but want to try and stay awake to see northern lights tonight if I can .8 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A good sleep!
2) Went to Park Run and chatted with several people and had a cup of tea and a cookie.
3) Saw a plant sale on my way to Park Run and stopped off on my way home. I am getting increasingly irritated by things that are very badly organised (which is hardly fair, considering that I am sometimes disorganised!) Well, there were only 3 or 4 people waiting to buy a cup of tea at this plant fair but somehow that necessitated about 40 people crammed into the foyer of a church hall (why not put the tea table IN the church hall ?!?) and everyone was falling over each other. There was also a handmade wooden wheelchair ramp across the foyer into the hall and people were literally falling over that!
Well, I got my cup of tea after 15 minutes and the plants were excellent. I bought 2 lupins, an aqualejia (spelling?) and 2 nasturtiums for a total of £2.50.
4) Got home and another sunny day. I planted the new plants.
5) Made toasties for lunch and chatted to smaller son.
6) Let myself in to MrM's flat (he did say it was OK) and he got delayed so I read his highway code textbook. He had had halloumi for the first time at lunchtime and was very taken with it, so we ate halloumi and drank tea.
7) Popped to Tesco.
Will watch Eurovision later then hopefully see the Northern Lights. I didn't know they were "on" yesterday and annoyingly it has just clouded over.8 -
Tried to see northern lights last night but failed - DrM texted me at midnight to say where to look but i just could not get out of light pollution despite walking round for a good hour (made worse by the new lampposts we've just had put in - it's nearly as bright as daylight, indeed as bright as a daylight on a cloudy day) :-(
1) long lie in due to late night - good thing it's Saturday :-)
2) sat in the garden with mum enjoying the sun
3) after lunch we went to the garden centre - mum sent me off for a trolley but i met another archers addict - i think we must have relived every second of Friday's episode - got back to mum about 15 mins later!
4) tea and half a jam and cream laden scone each - the tea is 'free' with our annual membership and the scones were buy one get one free - they gave us a bag for the other one (they're huge!) and it's in the fridge
5) friend unable to use her Madame Butterfly live from the met ticket so have just enjoyed an amazing 3 hours. met my dean at the interval - he was buying wine for him and his wife I was stretching my legs 'honestly all these people getting out their sandwiches' he laughed. guess who had a flask and sarnie packed - very mse of meMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in followed by boiled egg with marmite soldiers. No Northern Lights for us but only coz tucked up in bed fast asleep as many pictures on village FB page.
Made a loaf, cleaned my yard boots and put some Dubbin on them, rooted around in shed and found an old, full faced fly mask belonging to my previous horse ( anyone remember Bill? ) and got that washed for madam, then changed the bed taking off one blanket and swapping the coverlet to a light summer one as we’ve been kicking covers off at night, all of which meant that by now the bread was proved so got that knocked back and in the oven.
Over to see pony, very warm in the afternoon sun so we just had a mooch around the fields then I covered her in fly spray, put on the mask and turned her out for the night.
Chicken fajitas for tea then we watched a couple more Strike.
Last mooch of the day around the garden and a blackbird singing into the twilight.8 -
Good morning. Oh, this weather. I love it. I was meant to be warm!
Friday
Back to the hospital for another procedure for DH. Had to wait in the hospital for 2 hours for follow up procedure. The waiting room was unbearably airless so we went for a walk round the grounds. Mostly car park but happened upon a recent addition - a garden. Small but perfect. Lots of natural wood and stone ( pergola, paths, benches) and lovely planting. Probably 50% herbs so must smell heavenly ( my sinuses are bad so I can't smell anything😞). A lovely place to wait in.
Second part went well so back home in time for late lunch and a little lie down! Hospitals are very tiring places!
Saturday
Even better weather.
Spent the day pottering in the garden. Cleaning garden furniture. Potting up some bedding plants in the manger and baskets. DH painted the decking. Garden starting to look as if it belongs to somebody again!
Went out just before bed to look for Northern lights but too much light pollution I think. And our security lights came on which didn't help 😂
Happy Sunday everyone

Oh bother! I know!
Been out and back. Just now playing scrabble. As you know BoPsie is only one win away from having too on the bounce. Tonite she raced into an early lead, with the Q and X. Fortunately I got sardine on her q and and the red square blasting back in the lead and the rest is …
I’ll get her coat!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!8 -
Now PP I was just wondering about you yesterday! Nice to see you!In the vain hope of seeing northern lights I slept in back bedroom! Stayed awake as long as I could but nah!

1 Absolutely devouring a book called One Medicine.
So admiral I guess we're back in the championship next season. Mathematically we could stay up. We need Forest to lose 6-0 and we beat Fulham 9-0 🤣 however the parachute payment is good and we've made a global name for ourselves
1) lovely music at choir / cathedral
2) something unidentified from the freezer (we did an audit) - rather tasty
3) lovely long walk with the boys while I talked to my dad on the phone
4) footie with MrG and DrM, we were joined by others, mainly retired wondering how they'd ever fitted work in. MrG is now away till 22nd 😮 - DrM says he'll take over as chief pundit 😎
5) home to supper then a long bubbly bath with a good book (the master and his emissary) and classicfm

Hello, Admiral.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went for a 4 mile walk (after several days off with sore feet). Went to M and S for some free glasses of water!
3) Watched 3 episodes of series 2 of the Traitors.
4) Bit the bullet and booked onto the Arabic course, starting next Sunday. It is in Birmingham, which I like but I don't like driving there.
5) Nice thunderstorm and bit of rain. I put all the indoor plants outside for a good water as it is still warm.
6) Toad in the hole for tea.
7) Just making some shortbread with a cup of tea. Sister Scissors are playing on Alexa and I've remembered doing some homework for bigger son, years ago. He had so much one night I said I would do his music homework for him (he didn't do GCSE music so this was fairly early on). The task was to compare 2 versions of the same song so I did Pink Floyd then SS's versions of Comfortably Numb. At some considerable length!!
Feel melancholy this evening. I think it is going to Nottingham and thinking how life could have been very different.10 -
Frith, I think it's something in the air tonight with melancholy.
1 Saturday was spent at a wedding which was lovely, perfect weather.
2 It was nice to come back to our own beds, and the animals I think are getting fed up with us pondering off for the day.
3 Popped a couple of cans of water across the plants.
4 A little catch-up with DB.
5 Still very into my book, and I keep quoting random facts at DH.
