Sorry to hear about your uncle, Highdays.
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Took some cardboard, plastic and old curtain linings to the skips.
3) Took various bits plus some spider plants to the charity shop.
4) Went to Waitrose for a pot of tea.
5) Back home and cut the lower lawn (I don't live on a country estate - it is just the lawn is on 2 levels!) then I cut the little front lawn.
6) The house is in quite good order. I'm not sure if bigger son will reappear tomorrow do put up the final curtain pole.
7) Went out at 7 for an Indian meal for my friend's birthday (he is now 19). Full now!

sorry to hear about your uncle happycas
the duck race sounds fun vjsmum and the pizza lish mhags
quick 5 from me for the last 2 days
1) I am in my new office hooray. I was so excited I went in Monday to move my stuff (the team's not had an office since Covid)
2) Monday evening went to colleague's for catch-up - she's having a bad time of it with her back so haven't seen her for ages but a steroid injection is helping. She's dropped to 30% and as I am now her line-manager I also wanted to find out how she'd like to spend her 30% (still loving being interim director)
3) Tuesday met our new marketing bod. He was previously a journalist and we had a really good chat - I did of course ask him if he was a football fan - he's Rangers, doesn't follow the EFL (fair enough) but when I said I was Luton waxed lyrical about their meteoric rise and quirky ground - I think we're going to get on very well
4) had a good catch up with one of the lecturers and then bumped into someone who was able to sort a problem the lecturer is having - did I mention I was loving being interim director? 😋
5) after a very yummy sausage casserole (thanks mum) PSV Dortmund match with MrG and DrM. There was a Dortmund fan in so she was very happy (and we happily changed our support to Dortmund) - tonight we'll be back for Madrid BayernMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Headed into horsey town for a food shop, quick coffee with my friend.
Good job it was quick as text come through from DSIL, could her and fella drop in for a cuppa. Lovely catch up and heartwarming to see her so happy after recent upheaval.
Downloaded and enjoyed the latest episode of Great Lives on R4, Prof Alice had chosen Queen Emma of Normandy and good to learn about a part of history that I didn’t know much about, who knew that we had a Queen Emma in the distant past!
Time spent with my horse, it really is my happy place.
Quiche and salads for tea, watched & enjoyed the extended version of HIGNFY.7 -
Good afternoon. Five sunny days in a row. Feels like a record!
Dig fv - Lovely to hear from you. As always, in awe of your posts. How's the arboretum doing?
Highdays - sorry to hear about your uncle. Like you, I have fond memories of childhood, and think of missing relatives more and more as I get older.
Finally sorted out DH clinic appointment and my prescription. The NHS is just wonderful but sometimes the admin is ..er.. challenging.
Also sorting out my summer clothes. There are an awful lot in the ' don't spark joy ' pile and very few left to wear! Might have to go shopping.
Happy 🌞 day everyone

Pleasures for yesterday
1. More marking 🙄still getting through it. 5 left
2. bacon and eggs for lunch - the fridge is quite bare
3. Saw DS for the first time in a few days
4. DD had her first counselling session (or at least the first for 3 or 4 years) apparently it went well
5. cooked chilli for tea with enough left for a jacket spud topper tomorrow.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son reappeared and put up a curtain pole over the dining room (patio) doors. I recycled the curtains that were there when we moved in, removing the torn lining fabric and putting them through the washing machine. It looks a lot better with curtains.
3) We then went for a bike ride (my first since 2016). We cycled along the canal tow path to bigger son's house so only 5 miles in total. On the way, we saw a terrapin swimming serenely along the canal. Had a cup of tea at bigger son's house and he swapped my saddle for something more bearable.
4) Left over pizza and left over stuffed vine leaves for lunch.
5) Spent most of the afternoon weeding the garden. Moved a bay tree which has refused to thrive.
6) Spanish chicken from the freezer for tea, with rice. Will make some sort of cake just now.
7) Lovely sunshine all day.
ETA - 8) hot air balloon just flew very low over my house.

Hello. I’ve came up to bed early. Not to sleep but just because I’ve done today! Got my hot water bottles…not that it’s cold but just to be a bit cozy!Anyway a ridiculously awful nights sleep ( or non sleep) so was out walking the dog just after 4.30am and I saw the fox! And lovely birdsong. And peace and quiet ( apart from the birds)Drove to meet niece in the most ridiculous rush hour traffic. Gah! Anyway we had a lovely couple of hours of child free chatter at the midway garden centre and had a nice wander round. Then home. Pup was out on his walk so took my dog for a quick walk.Washed their washing which got dried outside.Did a bit of this and that. Clean sheets on my bed. Cleaned my bathroom. Made up three packing boxes and filled about 2/3 of one.Sorted out some pots at front door. Gave them a wash ( honestly this is me procrastinating about actual packing) and set aside three for DD2 to take for her garden. Swept up.Booked myself a little holiday ( it’s a few days away in a lodge with my doggy) but something to look forward to in the midst of the melee. And an incentive to get a blooming move on!The child collected her dog and plants and washing. She did not stay for tea…even though I’d taken stuff out the freezer for her tea! So I had sausages and parsnips ( the very last of the frozen ones) and sprouts and green beans and carrots. My mum had a little cat ornament ( my mum had lots of ornaments) that I’d kept. It was a carved cat on its back with three kittens that sat atop the cats belly. Anyway the kittens went missing the same time two little boys were staying a few weeks ago! So I put the cat ornament in yesterday’s charity shop bag. Today I found the kittens…hidden by the boys along with some other little things ! Grrr! Anyway will pop it in to shop next time I’m in town.7

For yesterday,
Early mist floating above the fields.
Busy morning cleaning bathrooms, doing the washing and having a general tidy, best bit was sitting on the back doorstep with a mid morning cuppa and enjoying the sun on my face.
The beech trees are finally in full leaf.
Spent the afternoon with my horse, bit of work then gave her a bath before putting her out, she hadn’t rolled by the time I left 🤞
An evening out with girl friends, catching up on everyone’s news and the usual hilarity ensued.

1 Made sure brekkie was a celebratory grilled bacon sarnie for DH, and a little pile of pressies - token pressies and a main.
2 He’s been poorly today so we haven’t gone out but have ordered in, there will be leftover pizza tomorrow.
3 We’ve just watched one of those series’ where I’m traumatized it’s complete. Nice to have had something to watch
4 Now watching a code breaker series.
1 The house is clean again.
2 Clean bedding for us and animals
3 A lot of washing out on the line.
4 HM burger in a bun and chips for tea
5 Started on the summer clothes sorting, and in a dress today.
6 Sitting in the sun, with a cuppa, happy vibes.

Hello. It’s the most beautiful evening and I should probably be packing but I’m not!Up early.
Pup dropped off.He went his walk with dog walker and H and I went to castle and had a lovely walk and a photo shoot in the bluebells.Home to resume packing. I’d started early this morning but was then overwhelmed emotionally when I went through a box that was my dads. So much sentimental stuff in it. That he had kept. The cutting from when I was born, when I got married. His certificates from nautical college. His wallet with his library card in it. His fathers wallet that probably about one hundred years old. With his name and then address inscribed. My wedding day order of service and their name tags from the top table and the pin from his button hole flower. And I just sobbed and sobbed. My dad died just after we got married. And was such a lovely man. And we were so close so it was all a bit oooft and perhaps just unleashed what was needing to be let out my system.
Anyway my nice dog walk helped. Pup dropped off.Bookshelf collected by someone who reads my blog! I didn’t know if she would know it was me but she did! Anyway another big item gone.Much photographing of stuff and sending it to DD2 do you want and yes she did so she got 4 bags full this evening.Sat in garden and watched Australian MasterChef.Sister called.Local holistic place ( where I’ve had reiki) looking for a model…that would be me! So had ear candles and a facial ! So that was absolutely lovely! And with my body being such a temple and all that I had a bag of chips from the chippy!Pup collected with piles of stuff too.So quite a full day!9
