For yesterday,
Out to horsey town for a few fresh bits from the emporium, picked up a few rtc bits including their much advertised salmon mousse which was delicious btw.
Spent the rest of the morning at the yard, tidied up my girlie’s mane and legs & generally cosseted.
Home just as the rain started and then the wind got up again so snuggly afternoon at home.
Started a new book, Marple, twelve new stories starring the super sleuth and written by famous authors.
Long chat with my bf and caught up on all the news.

so highdays did you dress or was it a well-deserved pyjama day?
For the third day of Christmas
1) survived the storm but goodness what a lot of rain and water - next door's laurel is down across our new fence - would certainly have finished off the old fence
2) finally stopped raining 1:15, took boys for a long walk and phoned dad - he loves his presents (book on Stirling Christmas, Stirling working model for birthday, it sits over a hot cup of tea and off it goes - lovely - being an engineer Stirling is one of his heroes
3) fried veg and cut up frankfurters for lunch - yum then some piano - I'm learning a new Toccata
4) then a walk on my own - it was blissful - met a couple of friends en route and stopped to chat - lots of branches down, lots of big puddles - and a workout
5) Man City with friend's dad - Dr M arrived early (unusual, he's normally late) in very good spirits (he's never miserable, but he's now into countdown to retirement), and Mr G, very often first, was last. A very pleasant end to the 3rd dayMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello.
Well, DDoll, I compromised in the end!! Had a shower and got 'dressed' in my new jarmers which pretty much look like jogger bottoms and a T shirt so I looked marginally better but not in proper clothes. Was dead chuffed that I looked dressed but wasn't!
Some pleasures:
1) We have luckily missed the worst of the storm, just very blustery but no damage done.
2) Delicious, easy meals using up leftovers, sadly can never be replicated but sometimes think I prefer the leftover meals to the real thing if I am the cook and gravy boat filler-upper, up and down like nobody's business. Note to self, buy a second gravy boat.
3) Binge watched Christmas Only Connects and University Challenges, great stuff.
4) Out to buy provisions for NY Eve dinner party, very busy out there but got everything I needed.
5) Chat with both brothers to sort arrangements for brother's birthday visit. Looking forward to a catch up few days and will get to spend some time with two of my nieces which will be lovely.
Then looking forward to a quiet couple of weeks, I've got books and hobbies that need attention, nice food in the freezers and enough boxes of chocs and bottles of nice stuff to see us through January. Is it very selfish to think it might be nice to be snowed in for a week or two? Maybe, but it won't happen til March anyway!
Hope you are enjoying the in-between days.8 -
Hello. Up early and it wasn’t raining ( at that point)
Was out this morning at a funeral. It was a lovely service.
Met up with someone who was also going so we went together then went for a cuppa afterwards.
Hello doggy. He’d had a visit from the chap and the pup whilst I was out.
He had taken their table back …hurrah to floor space again.
Got a work call, so more work booked in, which is good.
Chat to sister. She’s my work confidante now!
Had chicken with veggies for dinner.6 -
Evening all
Recent pleasures
A quiet but lovely christmas day with the four of us - just as i like it.
Lots of lovely pressies - OH forgot he'd bought a couple so bought more. I got more than anyone.
MiL was visited. She appreciated it. Went to SiL's afterwards where there was chaos - dogs, kids, people, noise.
Call the Midwife and All Creatures - lovely wallowy stuff
my christmas bath - with lush bubble bar and netflix on my new tablet - my old one was truly out of date
lovely food - turkey, sticky toffee, christmas cake (when DS lets me have some)
I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
"Call the Midwife and All Creatures - lovely wallowy stuff" totally agree vjsmum. And I cried at the end of Ghosts - absolutely beautiful ending to a wonderful series.
The fourth day of Christmas...
1) righted the bird feeder - pole has gone down another foot due to the ground now being so wet - and refilled the seed one plus an old style seed one and fat ball for the front garden so lots of calling birds
2) stripped the turkey crown, 2 take-away tubs now in freezer and bones boiled up for stock - very satisfying
3) more piano, more workouts, more doggie walks, more reading - I do love being at home!
4) watched all three episodes of Royal Institute lectures on AI - very interesting (though I did the AI thing with the bell - not sure what that says about how my brain works, was that thinking outside the box or too much in the box?)
5) dd2 helped me order my new ipad (been on my to do list for ages as very old model, no longer does so many apps, iplayer was the last straw!) - she showed me how to get my educational discount which i didn't even know i had and saved me £90.

For yesterday,
We went to cathedral city for a mooch around, briefly browsed the sales rail but nothing sparked interest.
Home, quick change and over to stables. Worked girlie in the lunge pen and then the magic formula of exercise followed by standing in a fresh, deep bed of shavings did the trick and I got a urine sample! Drove over to horsey town, dropped sample off at the equine hospital and picked up some medication.
Am tentatively thinking about changing my car so doing a bit of research, in all honesty I will probably end up with another mini!
SIL, two DN’s and a lovely bf popped over for a catch up, family really are everything aren’t they.
Late supper of salmon & salad and the second episode of Murder is Easy.6 -
5th day of Christmas
1) covered Dr M's stint at Botanics reception (it's run by volunteers) so he could work on his porch - good turn for today was rewarded by...
2) one of the visitors - mother over from Thailand with her daughter who's just about to start a masters here - turns out the mother did my masters in 1995! I have emailed her supervisor and he is looking to meet up before she goes home
3) 2 more workouts done
4) Christingle now 5 gold rings drying out on radiator in music room, chosen as dogs not allowed in there but is making music room smell lovely
5) dd2 finishes at 7 then we're going to watch death in paradise. or Agatha Christie. or both

Hello. Just came up to bed ( not to sleep particularly just now but just to be cozy) beautiful huge golden moon seen from my window. And just been out with doggy and it’s a star filled sky which means it’s blooming freezing! We’ve been very mild overnight past couple of weeks so it’s a shock!Anyway! Up early as per usual.Chat to friend on phone.Went as far as supermarket. Now on Christmas Eve I bought two punnets of strawberries for my pavlova. Opened them on Christmas morning and they were mouldy! Like seriously gross with a BB date of 27th December on them. I took photos of offending fruit and of packaging with date/ barcode etc on it. I put them in the bin as I did not want mouldy fruit in my fridge nor want mouldy fruit on a work top! So on the 27th when the shop reopened after being closed for 2 days I took in my photographs on my phone. Was asked where the fruit was . Was told I should have bagged it ( all said quite rudely I thought) and should have kept it and nothing could be done. I walked away at this point! ( saying a very pointed thank you ( internally muttered for nothing)Tried to send emails. They just bounced back. So today I went in and asked to speak to the store manager. They weren’t in but they could get me the duty supervisor. Who was most pleasant and agreed I was right to bin them ( they were seriously gross) and I was refunded and I held up the customer service queue which I apologised to the person behind…who gave me a nice smile. The young girl on the desk was so pleasant today and helpful and it made the biggest difference and she just said if anything like that happened again just ask for it to be escalated to the manager. I shall indeed! Anyway got money back. The customer service /complaints team will be notified and I should get a letter.Got loads of RTC veggies and more parsnips!Home and a pup had been dropped off in my absence. Hello two dogs!Chopped and boiled 9 bags worth of parsnips and they are in a little parsnip mountain in my freezer! Because I love them!Tidied my bedroom. Sorted out some of mums jewellery. Most of it was left to me and all the females were able to chose what they wanted at the time. A lot is good but also a lot was costume that I won’t wear. So sorted a pile for charity shop. And then said to DD2 to go through it when she came here later. If she wanted any to take it.All washing up to date and dried and put away. Not that there’s ever much as it’s just me.
I am going to attempt to have a lean January as I have been spending like I used to when I got paid every week! So until I am getting paid every week that needs to stop! And don’t need to buy for Christmas as that’s past! And have enough parsnips to keep me going 😆 I really don’t need clothes and I don’t need stuff! I’m starting back at skinny Minnie club tomorrow as I do need to focus and be accountable and I just don’t do it on my own.So in saying that…I have eaten chocolate and crisps today and we had steak pie and mashed potatoes and parsnips (😆) and sprouts and green beans and mange tout and a mini corn on the cob ( all RTC) for tea with DD2. It’s what we would traditionally have on NYD but she won’t be here so we had it tonight. So I’ve eaten all the yummy things and a bit of self control starts tomorrow!Had a jumper that is now a tank top…long story short it was borrowed by GN and didn’t come back in the same condition. So I’ve cut the torn sleeves off and stitched it at the armhole bit. Looks alright and will do a turn over a shirt or polo neck. Was not a happy great aunt but not worth falling out over.Cleaned my bathroom ( again it’s just me so never really gets manky…just has loads of different pots of creams to be put away) opened a new bar of Australian soap and a eucalyptus reed diffuser thingy.DD2 bought me lovely pink roses. The dog was given his Christmas duck as it was put away on Christmas Day as the pup wanted it. I was on phone to my son at the time and I’d just said to The Chap to stick it in the cupboard at top of stairs ( they were all upstairs) anyway I went in the cupboard today said oh there’s the duck and my doggy boy was ever so pleased!Discovered Ted Lasso. I’ve been watching it throughout the day and it’s made me laugh out loud! Got 5 months free Apple TV when I bought my laptop. I don’t actually have a telly anymore so just watch stuff on my phone or iPad. So it’s just came with me today as I’ve pottered in every room. And moon has moved round to my window nearest my pillows so I can look out at it! That makes me happy 😊6 -
DD out of curiosity, are you working out at home or a gym? I go to a class at a leisure centre, but I’d like to find something to work out to at home.
1 Chitty’s been on and just like that Christmas is complete.
2 Turkey and pickle sandwich, and a full roast leftover is tea with added yorkies.
3 I gardened the borders a tad, before getting a tad chilly.
4 DH busy putting together his stitch mini block daft pressie.
5 All the animal presents have now been torn open and enjoyed by all, clear winners anything that’s fuzzy ball or jingly and bright orange / pink.
1 Enjoying using up leftovers, today I avoided turkey and used the mash into bubble and squeak and cooked up some “Cyril sausages”.
2 Creating a bone broth from the turkey carcass and fat.
3 Watched the Christmas lectures, some of it was very good.
4 I’ve just joined Vinted as I’ve a lot to move on, working on the principle of anything in is better than nothing, but I’ve not used it before so just looking about for how to at the moment, if anyone has any tips they are welcome.
5 The moon is at the right place to watch it in the living room as it moves round.
