Here you on dogs not knowing it’s a highday DD small dog was up at 6am but we came back to bed with a cuppa and opened our cards to each other.
Just us for the day but lots of lovely calls and thank you messages from loved ones.
Capt S took small dog for a walk before the rain came over and meanwhile I prepped and cooked lunch, no xmas pud for us as neither of us particularly like it but I’d made my chocolate and cherry kirsch trifle which was much enjoyed.
Watched Toy Story 4 for first time and I cried at the ending.
Played games, first a new quiz one gifted but DSS’s followed by the old favourite, Yahtzee.

Hello. Bedtime-ish…just put a pair of Christmas gift lavender foot moisture sock doodahs on and a rich facial moisturiser!I’ve had a very quiet day which I think I needed after the biz of yesterday.
I’ve caught up on telly I wanted to .
Had a nice long chat with DD1. Yesterday was very brief as it was her bedtime and I was trying to get stuff prepped. So we are all caught up and had a laugh at some funnier moments from Christmas Day.
Had a nice long chat with friend. About her day.And this brought me up to 11.55am and still in bed ( though was showered)
Got up and had some toast and then some raspberry cheesecake.Hoovered half of a beach out my car. Swept up front driveway and around porch. Washed doorstep. Binned broken mirrors from last weeks heavy winds. No chance of repair to them.Opened a box of chocolates I had, ate three but by the third ( which I spat out…goodness knows what kind it was! ) had had enough so I will pass them on to a chocolate appreciate-r! I’d rather have a twix😆
Cuddles with my dog and a snooze on the sofa.A bit of prep work for work tomorrow. No dinner as I’m not hungry. And then I just thought do you know what? I’m going to bed!8 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) We have scabies so have had a lovely day of hoovering, steaming (steaming 40 year old carpets - what a delightful smell!), changing all the beds, dismantling the sofa cushions...
3) Went out this afternoon with the little camping stove and had cups of tea on the nearby bit of heathland.
4) Tasty omelette for tea.
5) Our football team equalised at 90+2.
6) Went to Morrisons then Sainsburys and bought (all 19p or below): rolls, scones, paninis, a loaf, bags of dill, bags of carrots, a bag of leeks, a bag of potatoes and a parsley plant!6 -
We had a really fun Boxing Day, 14 of us! Loads of food and it went down really well, the most popular was baked Camembert! Some boeuf bourginon, cold meats, cheeses, desserts left over so I will have to have a good sort out and use some and freeze some as we are going away for the night on Thursday to Christmas at Blenheim.. loads of booze consumed as well but everyone is very generous with what they bring 🍷. Lots of nice presents and everyone enjoyed the quizzes and silly prizes.
Hope you all had an enjoyable day whether in your own company or with a houseful.
In bed with swollen foot and aching back, it’s hard work but enjoyable. Quiet day tomorrow, clearing up and getting house back to normal, sorting out the food, then feet up!

Good morning
Yesterday was another good day, but much lower key.
DD and fiance came for lunch. I'd prepared it all in advance to be eaten cold ( ham, salmon and sides) so just had to cook pigs in blankets (DD favourite part of Christmas!) and jacket potatoes. All very relaxed and so I enjoyed it too. Lots more lovely chat and the beginnings of a plan for a joint trip to Bruges next year.
We shoo-ed them out after a couple of hours so we could have a rest but I think they were glad too. DD is bridesmaid at a black tie NYE wedding so they need to save some energy for that. ( can't be bridesmaid. It's her GBF. Groomsmaid?)
I've been very naughty and have been eating too much dairy. I have the swollen polyps to prove it! Will cut it out as of now and see what happens.
Lovely leftovers today and then will freeze the rest of the ham and salmon. I see lots of risottos and carbonaras in our future.
And just like that, it's all over. But it's been a great Christmas. I hope for all of you too.
Happy whatever-day-it-is! I've lost track😂

Me too HappyCas!
For yesterday,
Sunshine and blue skies, it’s been such a relentlessly wet winter in our neck of the woods so lovely to see.
We had friends at ours for lunch, lots of cold meat leftovers plus a big salad that we all tucked into.
They left around 3 to visit others so quickly popped over to see my girlie.
Been guided home by the light of the full moon, called the cold moon I think, and with one of those halos around it.
Snuggled down in front of the tv and the pleasure of a new episode of Vera.

difficult to believe today with storm Gerrit lashing outside but for yesterday
1) gorgeous sunny crisp winter's day - mum and I took the dogs for a long walk through the park and round then back for turkey sandwiches (of course)
2) trotted off to watch luton match - bother, pub full, all 3 sets on Dundee Celtic game (fair enough I guess for a Scottish pub) - fortunately dd2 had walked me down then was going onto town so quick call, can I join you, yes, and we had a lovely time in town, ending with hot chocolate in our favourite book shop then walked back along the river bank - fabulous full moon
3) indeed such a lovely time I forgot to check the score after we went down 2-1. Dr M sent me a congratulations text - 6 points from 2 games (this time we managed 9 points from the 3 Christmas break games, can we do it again?!)
4) home for bangers and mash
5) then Leicester game with Mr G and Dr M - next Luton match is on tv at 12:30 so Dr M and I are going to watch it alongside coffee and toasties - my local does the best toasties ever!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Morning all.
Well. that's Christmas 2023 done and dusted. Two manic and full on days here, love my house full and people around my table and that certainly happened on both days. Very late nights and lots of busyness have taken their toll though as still not totally right and now totally shattered! Not been up long and having a very lazy day putting my home to rights and sorting the leftovers - like a lot of people I think. Then a big sit down and lazy evening catching up on some Christmas programmes.
Lots of pleasures, lots of gratitiude, bit of sadness, it's a bittersweet time of year and the older you get the more memories of times past you have and the more 'absent friends'. I am. however, beyond grateful that I have loved ones who want to share the highdays and holidays with us.
It will all start again for us tomorrow with preparations for visitors and a big New Year dinner then straight off for a few days in Wiltshire for brother's birthday. My other brother and wife are coming too plus birthday boy's daughters and husbands so more merriment to come.
But for today the pressing question is do I get dressed or stay in my dressing gown. Hmmm......
Have a good day everyone.8 -
