Hello all.
Pleasures recently
1. A decision has been made re work. I'm not feeling it and we don't need the money so one job is going to go after this academic year. I will keep the other for a while as its much more flexible.
2. ICT with OH and niece and her children who stayed with us
3. met up with other family while we were there.
4. went to see Fascinating Aida - i've wanted to see them for decades. They were very good and VERY sweary
5. started the process of getting my feet sorted (unglamorous bunions).
Take care all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
I called the hospital to tell them I feel forgotten and that there’s now issues, they told me the surgery was urgent, and also told me I am still on the two-week urgent list, to which I said well that’s why I called, they said they are short staffed I understand but you can’t tell me both. Etc. So I will give them the morning tomorrow before I try again.
1 A very deep clean of the whole house, and clean bedding for all, with respective wash loads, window half heatedly done.
2 Made a very traditional spaghetti bolognaise for dinner, using rtc mince, with garlic bread.
3 Candlelight, well it is Halloween.
4 About to cook up some scones.
5 Trying to read on kindle, but I still prefer physical books.

Hello. Late bedtime for me.Up early!
Was meeting up with niece at midway point…I drove through rush hour traffic. She slept in! Anyway when she did arrive we had a nice catch up.Home. Hello doggy.
Finished book and popped it onto supermarket charity shelf.
Made chilli in slowcooker for the first time. Was alright. Cooked sausages ( RTC) some rice, some RTC salad, crusty bread and coleslaw and cheeses nachos. Tuesday Tea Halloween style!Friend brought goody bags.We had s’mores made in the airfryer which were very easy. I decorated a sponge cake with tablet and caramel and popcorn. And little chocolate muffins with buttercream. And also had satsumas! So much chatter and laughter. Was all a bit crazy at times, six voices and two dogs!Hurrah for the dishwasher! It’s been out of order for so long but it was nice to fill it tonight and switch on the button!October has been dealt with…onwards with a new month!10 -
Hello.
Not really feeling it tonight, bit sad and genny.
But, there we are, and there are always pleasures:
1) Everyone I care about in this world is accounted for and safe and sound.
2) We are home, warm and dry, well fed and with hot water and clean, comfortable beds, and so much more besides.
3) Feeling my mum and dad close by, although they are no longer with us I hold them in the very middle of me and was truly blessed to have them for nearly 70 years.
4) Finished knitting another baby blanket and started a new one, one day they will keep babies somewhere in this world warm and snuggled.
5) Off to bed now with my book.
Hope you all sleep well.9 -
A little late but just popped in to wish you all a very happy November. My 5 for today - and the past goodness knows how long
1. A few days break after working what feels like 24/7 for months. Not complaining, I'm fortunate to be able to do it and I have lots of plans to fill my r&r time.
2. No. 5 great-grandchild due in March, need a boy to try and even things up a bit but a scan next week will let us know. Of course it doesn't matter at all as long as it's healthy.
3. Gorgeous weather here for the past few days so no need for heating yet. We're very fortunate to have missed the storms that have been sweeping much of the UK.
4. Hard landscaping of the small garden is almost complete, with lots of insect-friendly planting to compensate for losing the lawn. To be completed in Spring but it's looking good already.
5. Watching my 4 y/o granddaughter at her riding lesson, she loves everything about it including the mucking out and grooming. I remember having to drag her Mum, my daughter, away from her horses for Christmas dinners, looks like it runs in the blood.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts from the past few days and catching up here. Good to know the forum is still going strong, hopefully I'll be able to post a little more often that once a year! Wishing you all well, x10 -
sparrer I must have conjured you up! I was actually thinking of you yesterday and of others who used to post here regularly! So, so lovely to hear from you!Absolutely lashing with rain here this morning! castle walk plans scuppered.8

Hey Sparrer, good to ‘see’ you and congratulations on the new grandchild expected next spring x Sorry to say but some little girls never grow out of the mad about ponies stage 😉
For yesterday,
Preparing our hall, stairs and landing ahead of lovely decorator starting today, we do most things but the long drop on the stairs is not for us shorties.
Out to local hardware store for a few bits and found a couple of lampshades in the sale.
To the stables, the fields are getting muddy and at one point my welly boots got stuck so told my girl to walk on and she pulled me out! She was remarkably clean apart from legs which got a wash.
Lit some tea lights and put them on windowsills as is my tradition at Samhain, no trick or treaters as we are too far outside of the village but I like to guide any spirits past.
Veggie tea, mushroom & lentil cottage pie, very nice.
