5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Morning all.
Back from our jaunt and haven't caught up in any depth yet so hope all are ok.
Happy Yorkshire Day from our little corner of God's own country too. I suppose we get a day, VJsmum. in the same way as we get a pudding! My dad always used to say he knew he was home when he saw York Minster on the horizon, thought its so flat in the Vale of York he'd have had to be pretty much on top of it to see it!
Nice to be home but feeling a bit meh today. Heard first thing that my sister is in hospital again, ongoing heart problems, so she is in the right place for more tests but still a worry. Tomorrow is my mum's first 'anniversary' so that is weighing heavy too, I miss her sooooo much. Trying to get through to the surgery for my blood test results, for some reason feeling a bit unsure about them so would be good to know one way or the other.
Anyway, pleasures for today:
1) Had a wonderful castle trip with little fella. He was a total delight and great company.
2) He tried archery on both days and was surprisingly accurate, maybe beginner's luck but he was very proud of himself.
3) No scrambled egg on the breakfast buffet - shock, horror - but we asked the restaurant supervisor who went off and came back with a plate of freshly cooked scrambled egg and a sausage, just as requested. He'd been looking forward to it and ate up every mouthful and went to thank him on the way out.
4) Got home lateish last night and my own bed was heavenly.
5) Quiet day on the cards, pottering around at home.
Hope you all have a good day - August already and it is feeling a bit like the tail-end of summer so need to make the most of it while we can,10 -
We have a Suffolk Day ,was 21st June
perhaps it’s a ‘ thing’ now9 -
Ooh apparently there is a 'Kent' day - May 26th. Who knew?
Kent has its own pudding - only we call it Gypsy Tart. I've never seen it anywhere else but was a favourite of school dinners.
(Don't even live in Kent anymore and haven't for decades but once a Maid of Kent, always a Maid of Kent I guess).
Staffordshire day (where i currently live) is May 1st apparently. Next year i'll have a staffordshire oat cake. Sorry, i've gone off topic.
A pleasure is finding these things out ..🤣I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
V J's mum - it certainly is! And it could come up as a question on Only Connect 😂8

well I'll be - this 19th August we celebrate the 30th Dundee day - i too never knew! oh hang on it's US - perhaps time for us to embrace Dundee Day here in Scotland
1) had a bit of a lie in as worked late last night - got an email from colleague just back from holibags - was i coming in? quick wash, dress and a bus appeared just as i got to the bus stop
2) after joint supervision and updating on various worky things we went for pizza - our canteen does the most amazing freshly cooked pizza and incredible value - under a fiver for peri peri chicken and mushroom which we shared
3) walked down to botanics and spent a very pleasant 90 minutes in their tea room doing emails - had a couple of lattés
4) then a walking meeting with a colleague at 3 - 3 times round the garden (we had a lot of work to catch up on) then she treated me to tea and cake - we sat outside, it was glorious
5) and home, supper and 2nd innings of the men's 100 - very exciting

For yesterday,
Early over to the stables as pony had the physio coming, he brought his 11 week old puppy who was beautiful and so well behaved, as was my horse who always enjoys the treatment.
She is however continuing to be bothered by something biting her when she’s out at night, poor things has lots of bites so cleaned them up and put on a cooling lotion, just hope the garlic starts to have an effect soon, she certainly likes it in her food.
Stopped at stall in village for fresh eggs, £1 for six so bit of a bargain as well.
Made a Lammas loaf and while it was proving spent some time in the garden, think the pots are nearly ready as tops are going yellow but tomatoes still well behind, oh well green Tom chutney it will be!
Tasty tea, mackarel pie with fennel, broccoli and broad beans.8 -

Was Delay Repay yesterday and another £1 back inn two the bursars purse. Mind you the educationalist who got fined other weak was also complaining about it, but her fine had gone up!

Pleasures for yesterday
1. coffee with friend. Good to catch up
2. SHopping for other friend's birthday - i think I was overthinking it, but it's sorted now.
3. pictures with DD - went to see Barbie, it's fab (after a very distressing first scene - IYKYK)
4. Home to DS being back from work - cooked salmon for me and chicken for him. I like to cook him a 'proper' dinner when i'm there as he doesn't do so for himself when we're not. Yes, I know he's 24 but i'm his mum
5. We watched the Peter crouch documentary on Prime. Was v. interesting - even to someone who's not bothered about football.
Have a great day all - the marking continues.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
1. More happy 10% discounts in food warehouse. Various linked offers meant £8.41 off a £22 shop, including 2 outstanding hefty reds, ignoring latest government filching. Love FW's discount Tuesdays. ❤️
2. Emporium black puddings, were £2.95, rtc 99p. Not &'s thing, but &'s maman loved them. Purchased all, as they were to be binned by 15h! Distributed to various delighted recipients.....
3. ....2 of whom were at 🏉 training last night. Brilliant to have over 80 senior squad players present again. Choice of 3 traybake munches, included vegan option. Last week, 5 vegans - hier soir, 0, so it was mixed in with the rest. Lunchbox portions keenly taken = no Club waste+home savings. Win-win! 👍
4. It's been raining again overnight. & unaware. Rainbutts full and garden watered gratis. There's been a yellow storm warning for Fens+East Anglia since Monday. Staying in today.

Hello. Missed out on yesterday post so here goes :
My Tuesday morning self was ever so grateful to my Monday evening self as I’d stayed up a tad later and had hoovered, washed floors and tidied kitchen. So that was a nice start to the day.Had to drop DD2 specs off at her work that she’d left here on Saturday. Could not get blooming parked anywhere! Ran in and ran straight back out.Supermarket next. A bit of drama as there was a shoplifting incident happening. And home to my doggy and was just glad to spend the rest of the day with him after 3 busy work days.Pulled up my sweet peas. Was totally over them taking totally over my garden! I’d never planted them in the first place! Got a jam jars worth of flowers.
Washing out in between showers of rain. Mostly dry, just big towels were still a bit damp but hung on the clothes horse.Tuesday friends over for tea. Had slow cooked a gammon joint and had lots of veggies with it and had made a banana bread with mums recipe. Used to make it all the time when we lived in Australia and the smell was a blast from the past when it came out the oven.Chatter and laughter. For today :
Woke up to a beautiful sunrise.
Early morning chatter to my sister on phone.Dropped a card into work for a birthday later on this week. Was in and out in 2 minutes!Went to beach with doggy, rained all the way there but was dry at beach. Still needed my big coat on though! Got chatting to a nice lady who was up in Scotland for a few days from Manchester.Home and just pottered around this afternoon. Was expecting a chap to come late afternoon about a job. He didn’t. Grrr. Then texted to say was I free tomorrow ( with no sorry I didn’t make it today)
DD2 and pup came for tea. And have just left with a doggy bag for the chap! We had sausages and loads of veggies. I may have eaten our pudding in the afternoon 😆😆 Puppy is always tired out on a Wednesday as he’s at doggy daycare all day and runs around with other doggy’s.9
