5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Happy new home frith. I am jealous of your greek takeaway having moved the other way 3 years ago!
My pleasures:
1) DH won some sort of award at work (he always seems to be winning something), and we got a £100 voucher to cash in. He converted it to t3sco points so we did a bit of a fun treat shop at the weekend and have been feasting all week.
Last night I drank cremant de Loire in bed with a drop of homemade créme de mûre (made 2 years ago!). 3yo DS is very excited for blackberry season and keeps checking the brambles near our drive (testament to our lackadaisical gardening) for progress
2) Feeling properly on the mend now, so hoping to get back to normal soon. I have not been hugely productive at work which is threatening my identity as a high performer. I think I made a mistake 'coming back' (working from bed) from weds and should've taken the week and properly recuperated.
3) plumbing quote for our whole house renovation finally came in. It is in line with high level quantity surveyor quotes so we just need electrics now and we can go to tender!!
4) DH forgot to reclaim £650 of expenses and I was wondering why things were so chuffing tight!! He's submitted it now and it feels like bonus money, but really it isn't as so many YNAB categories need to be filled up.
5) Tonight eldest DD and I are going to see Barbie movie!7 -
fabulous frith or should I say Linda
for yesterday
1) woke early so walked dogs then walked dd2 half way to station
2) as we were walking DS texted - coming to Dundee that evening - do you need a bed and supper? yes.
3) boys got their hair cut - very smart
4) another free lunch courtesy of some visitors
5) lovely evening with DS - he had to sleep on the sofa as house a bit full at the mo and not enough notice to clear the bed in DD2's office but he was fine
and today
1) hair cut for me - lovely catch up with my hairdresser
2) nice chat with ex phd student - he's doing fab and has invited me to his wedding in October
3) had lovely chat with two of the professional services over lunch
4) caught the bus home then walked the boys and supper
5) and now i'm off to book club.
Sunday going to Barbie - pink and fluffy - but tonight is Lessons in Chemistry - someone told me the message of the Barbie film is not dissimilar, I await with interest.

1) A good sleep.
2) Two of the English teachers came round for a cup of tea and a look round.
3) My sister and niece popped in.

5) Saw some little frogs, a dragonfly and various birds including a circling buzzard in the garden.
6) Went to Wildlife Club in the village I used to live in!

For yesterday,
Snap on the haircut, into Uni City and had mine done as well, think I enjoy the coffee & magazines as much as anything ☺️ Snapped a couple of recipes on my phone to try at home including brioche which I’ve never made.Run back to the car park so my ticket didn’t click into the next hour, parking is horrendously expensive and especially so in the morning.
Lunch then a quick visit to see pony, red kite flying above the stables.
Home and sat down to watch the last session of the cricket.
Decent evening so walk with beloved & small dog followed by a glass of wine in the garden, watching the bats.6 -
For yesterday:
1) My lovely colleague brought me some home grown corn from her Dad's allotment
2) Had a super productive working day and can really switch off this weekend
3) Got to fuss a gorgeous dog on the train home
4) Anticipation of a quiet weekend at home recharging
5) A perfect cup of tea6 -
Hello.
We have blue sky and sunshine. Yippee!
Recent pleasures:
1) Although we no longer have school age children we can live the summer holidays vicariously through our grandchildren. Love the carefree days and not having to clock watch for school runs, sort uniform and games kit and suchlike.
2) Took little fella to a local garden and we did the Dinosaur Trail, good fun in the sunshine.
3) Then rewarded ourselves with some locally made ice cream - white chocolate and coconut for me, yum!
4) Son's partner has put up some fairy lights in my summerhouse for me, just right and lovely in the twilight, feels quite magical.
5) Impromptu night out last night with son and his partner to a local country pub with live entertainment. Huge fun, good band, couple of cocktails and a bit of a boogie with hubby. Feeling a tad fragile this morning though.
Packing and sorrting to be done today for our castle trip away with little fella who tells me he is really looking forward to it. Jousting at Kenilworth Castle tomorrow (not us personally!) and then Warwick Castle on Monday. He's so far 'ordered' pizza and ice cream for tea tomorrow and scrambled egg and a sausage for breakfast on Monday, hope we can oblige!
Have a good weekend, fingers crossed for some good weather.7 -
BIG MESSY EDITING and CORRECTIONS NOW DONE, DOWN BY RIVER, LATE AFTERNOON.
Posted at 11th attempt since mid-morning
Mhags - hoping both you and Haggis have had the rest&recovery sleeps you've needed, especially you for today's big day madness.
Much happy wind-down/R&R/recharge reading from many here. Good to see.
1. Already msgs from Spain, 'cooler here this morning, only 36⁰ forecast.' Meantime, &'s been out barefoot on cool damp soil, nipping out laterals and retying tomatoes, de-jungling grape vine, ditto oak.
2. More old rugby club wood+pallets taken to dump. Lovely M and B did all the huge heave-ho: weight lifted from & felt multi-layered. Soddit why not followed, so - lovely afternoon at Emmaüs, familar faces+smiles, more layout changes and apples picked and given from this year's heavy fruiting trees. Lovely garden chap and long talk. Only 3 No More Books and a couple of other bits.
3. Midweek service again &'s spiritual recharge, again with good summer and harvest hymns, followed by Spookymen's Chorale and Queen in Doblo, & singing loudly with all.Good for soul before more helping someone (long-known). Over recent months, persuading them to access qualified TU/employment law support. Unfortunately, person has not the mindset to understand necessary evidential legalities, but we'll get there, if only to protect work pension - and against being forced out.
4. Another heavy load of more old rugby club wood+pallets taken to dump. Again, lovely M and B did all the huge heave-ho.
5. Senior squad Thursday training turnout exceeded 80 - fantastic! & starred jokingly as Ms Portion Control serving post-training munch - jacket potatoes, chilli and vegan option. Pyjama party wear mandatory post-shower and prizes were given. All are such good troupers. Newbie incomers all again remarked on how wonderful the welcome and atmosphere is. We now have the fixture list, so much tougher this season after promotion and wretched RFU mangling:-(
On verra.

Over the rope!
Chocolate and coconut ice cream? Not proper dessert. End Of!
'ello Lemonade! I drink Wobbeades! It's that time again!
Well we had water closet disaster the other day when I was at the Docks. Bit of a drip, but closed off then! This morn after the usual snorkers, best back mushroom, fried tatties and scrambled eggs, was up peeling the carp offs the walls, and filling. Dust kept Kitty at bay!
Oh on abouts the scrambled egg and poor food at the wobbleade emporium, we has the proper scrambled eggs, from fresh farm eggs and milk, mot the carp pasteurised used in the wobbleade emporium and nuked. Note, I see that all teh so called gastro pubs now are greasy joe burger joints and that leg of lamb and salmon are not on the menu any moor! Carp foods avoid!
Watched another movie off the stream last nite. 4K! Robots cheeses and wobbleades were taken, as well as a nice hot toasted crumpet buttered with marmite.
Was at the discount surplus store this morning emptying teh shelves of good foods for the weak, fresh fruits and some buzzard for the chicken tikka! Will be good, as wobbleades will also be on the table!
Now watching the leather on willow! Urgh?
Jen has herI work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!7 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Off to Park Run. Everyone jolly today.
3) Went to see bigger son who was doing the Everest challenge on his bike. (To do 8,800 metres of ascent).
4) Went to watch our football team.
5) Worked in the garden. Cleared up builder's rubble, planted 3 currant bushes then cleared the patio of a lot of plant pots of compost and long-dead plants and replaced them with 4 pots of herbs.
6) Went to B and Q for secateurs, filler and rubble bags.
7) Spoke to my school friend (on Zoom, as I don't have a phone!)8
