5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

For yesterday,
Better night sleep wise and woke up early to read my book.
With pony, she had obviously rubbed an itchy part on her neck, under her mane which made it bleed and, unusually for her, refused to allow me to have a good look so gave her a groom and sorted out the rest of her bites. No work as she had physio the day before so back into her stable she went and I sat in with her. Sure enough she lay down to have a doze and her sneaky Mum found the wound powder, very gently parted her mane & puffed some in the general area, hopefully that will keep any nasties out of it.
No lunch as due to meet my friend at nearby hotel for an afternoon tea, lovely couple of hours having a good catch up and there was a small box of leftover cakes to bring home for Capt S.
The rain stopped and I was able to get out in the garden for half an hour, cut back some of the lavender which hopefully will mean another flowering.
The nights are noticeably drawing in as shutting curtains at 9pm now, year marches on.9 -
Morning all.
It is definitely starting to feel a bit back-endish, hopefully we may get an Indian Summer and in the meantime will make the most of any nice weather in between the rain showers. It's a shame for the children that the summer has been so wet.
Recent pleasures:
1) My mum's first anniversary yesterday and not as bad as the run up to it thankfully. Grateful to be throught the year of 'firsts', grateful that we don't have to go through that again and can hopefully in time just have happy memories. Losing a mum cuts very deep but the pleasure was that I had her for a mum.
2) Sister is home from hospital, had to spend two days and nights in A & E as no beds available. She is ok but needs ongoing treatment, but at least can have a good rest at home.
3) Blood tests came back ok but the problem on my face has flared up again so not sure what it is. I'll spare you the gory details but I look like I've done ten rounds with Mike Tyson and he won! Will see what it's like in the morning as to whether I need to go back to the Dr, will be very glad when the 'urgent' referral to the specialist comes through.
4) Caught up on Only Connect and University Challenge and managed to answer quite a few questions - mainly because UC favoured the Arts over the Sciences this week!
5) Back on the diet and the walking after our weekend of indulgence. Not a pleasure in itself but definitely feel less sluggish and have already lost what I put on over the weekend. Onwards and downwards.
A morning to myself today as hubby is off set-building so will make a coffee and have a quiet half hour with my book I think.
Enjoy your day.

In hope, I shall set these seeds in the fridge for a few weeks & see if they then grow… (Well, if a Pakistan mango will try, it seems worth a pop!)Sister pondering a fusion of tai kwon do and belly dancing - I trust her when she avers the movements could fit together but I am utterly baffled by the dress code.Oh, dear. It’s a fleabite but I feel better for the effort going to where it’ll do the most good.Well, I am most surprised! On with the finding mugs to put the pots into, that the “mango plantation” in my windowsill can carry on…Health Strength Love & Courage to all as have need (potting compost, guile & an up-to-date diary likewise) & may the weather be slightly cooperative.9

Oh dear when you have to follow on from a DFV post…I’ll do my best 😆😆 (waves at DFV 👋)
Well woke up early very abruptly from a very odd dream where puppies ( not mine) kept peeing on rugs and there were snakes in my friends from garden ( and my friend died in 2006…so it was nice to dream of her but no idea what the snakes were about. I was trying to phone the vet to come and get them…weird! )
Anyway a doggy needed out so out we went, there was the most stunning sunrise this morning. It was like the gift that kept on giving. We went to local castle for a wander and some toast in the court yard and I saw the squirrels who also saw us but the doggy didn’t clock them. I’d left a poo bag at my back wheel to pick up before I left ( there are no bins here) however home (via supermarket to drop off plastic recycling) and thought I’ll just get that bag of poop when I realised I’d left it behind…so zoomed back and it was still there! 💩
Then in as I was expecting a builder chap ( from yesterday) to come at 11am , then he’d sent a text to say could he come at 12 but I thought it was The Chap who was supposed to come at 11.30am to drop off a puppy ( and he always runs late) but then The Chap sent me a text to say he was running late ( see😆) and I thought who’s now coming at 12? Twas the builder…except he didn’t come till 4.30pm! Anyway he’s starting work tomorrow.Puppy for a couple of hours. Mad at the start as usual then they both settle down and he slept for about an hour.Did a bit of clearing up in the garden. Snipping here and there. Was just cooking my tea when DD2 a messaged a bit upset and just needed her mum ( and her big dog) so down we went. Both doggies had a mad run around at hers then went inside. There for about 45 minutes and we came home…and I reheated my tea!
Should have started to move stuff around for work starting tomorrow but shall just do it in the morning . Shouldn’t take too long! And a bonus…doggy finished his medicine yesterday and wasn’t sick today! Yay! A couple of times I thought he might but he didn’t!10 -
A precis, as almost no internet reception...
A mix of yesterday and today
1) Bought a new hoover. A Henry - special offer from Currys.
2) My sister popped round and brought some 1960s glass lampshades. (I got them for her from a charity shop years ago).
3) In the garden - butterflies, dragonflies and buzzards.
4) My friend came round 2ish and stripped wallpaper until about 9pm! He did stop to cook us some omelettes. I had to busy myself while he was working so I got loads of things done.
5) The police came to the door. They have in custody the person who broke into my car the other night. I didn't bother to report it but he broke into all the cars in the road so other people did phone!
6) Went in search of "middles" for the glass lampshades today! Tried 3 places and hopefully have ordered the correct thing online.
7) Had a cup of tea and did some Arabic in Sainsbury's cafe.
8) Had 2 spare keys cut.
9) Dusted and hoovered throughout. There is bare plaster in 2 rooms but otherwise tidy.
10) Cleared another metre of so of flower bed and planted more herbs.
11) One load of washing dried outside and another load just finishing in the machine.
12) Picked more blackberries
13) Finally started to clean the oven. I have a cast iron constitution, never get squeamish but layers of lard (?) left for over a year was hard going. I've left everything soaking/covered in that highly dangerous oven cleaner overnight.
14) Smaller son's desk top arrived. We assembled the second set of drawers and put his desk together. He's so pleased with his room that he hoovered it earlier!
15) Sat on my picnic blanket under the apple tree.

Up on the Gog Magogs en route back after training at Peacock HQ rugby🦚.

1. Adding Tuesday's homegoing pic -
2. Mhags - a 2nd sweet pea bloomed at &squat today. Also ate 1st strawberry 🍓 before slugs did. Seems ridiculous when many people's crop is over. More pink flowers coming too.
3. Multi-slug murder - YESSSS!!! & is at 🏅slaughter level. Saw one chomping from kitchen window, consuming baby courgette. Rushed out and stabbed. Save &'s Courgettes. Loathe slugs - and they are cunning.
4. Yesterday was another npd+nsd, but answered late call today for CoFarm produce pick-up late this arvo. Much appreciated. Everything fresh and beautiful - believe it or not, that's 26 crates there for the school holidays lunch programme!
5. Great to have Baldi back on R4X.
