Early laundry already out, planting checked and brekkie done by 6 bells. Now writing this, interrupted by an early a.m. power cut.
1. Yesterday's big Thankyou from a very young college cyclist to driver &. There was just something charming and genuine about his beaming smile and relieved gesture when & slowed, well back, for a single track bit as he approached, pedalling hard.
2. Planting all sorts on a quasi-gardeny day - tomatoes, beans, salad, courgettes, gourds, already-chewed sugar snap peas (doubt they'll recover, but who knows?), a thorny defensive shrub out front. Only 8 No More Plants from church table:D. Out of luck for more French beans, but instead took a chocolate mint, will try again at old-fashioned sweet peas(& is hopeless with them, dkw)and an intriguing yellow-flowering courgette - named Black Beauty, for some reason. Wild spender &, £2.50 in church wall slot.
3. 2 Good Grief! moments.
-Diesel now a penny cheaper per litre than petrol!
- &'s 500ml nat.yog down to 35p from 45p. Was ist das!?
4. Art Quarterly has come, treat in waiting -and Martin Bond, of A Cambridge Diary, has announced possible publication news. & has subscribed to support, as so many will. Fingers x'd that it happens.
5. Use-ups combined in thoroughly good supper, definitely used up and yum.

Hello again.
Blummin' freezing here today - 14 degrees at best, now a measly 11. Brr!!
Some chilly pleasures:
1) Son had his birthday, we are both now officially a year older. Part of me thinks it's more my celebration really as I remember it (very well) and he doesn't. Anyway, birthday tea was had and candles duly blown out by the birthday boy.
2) Making a conscious effort not to get set in my ways, or my expectations, which could define me as one of the 'older generation' so won't set myself up to be let down when the youngsters don't behave in quite the way I would have had to. Things change and my mum and dad to a degree didn't really get that but I am determined I will try to move with the times. Hmmm....let's hope their future employers/customers feel the same way when they get out into the big, bad world. The pleasure may be that they will find they have to conform to a degree, manners maketh man and all that. We will see...
3) Another hill climb with my bairn today to work off some of the birthday cake and other calorie-laden delights of the birthday tea.
4) Hubby's rehearsals have all gone ok, the set is up and working and the play starts this evening so I am home alone, planning on a quiet evening with my book after the social whirl of the last couple of days.
5) Got a few things off my list when out shopping today so I can remove dark shadows under my eyes but have 'full length' eyebrows, and legs that appear tanned on the backs which never go naturally brown as well as on the fronts which do. Deep joy, roll on summer. Treated hubby to a cuppa out as he had looked on patiently in a very bemused fashion as the 'new me' took shape in the beauty dept.
Right, I'm off. Hope it's been a lot warmer where you are.

For yesterday
1 I spent time trying to clear and tidy just a little bit today, I admit I could have gone a little nutty but didn’t when I cleared the top of a wood cabinet to polish etc and before I came back with the wax bits DH had cables and paraphernalia all over it!! Love him to bits but he is a literal clutter bug! I did get the sofa cleaned, cobwebs done, mirrors, display cabinets etc, and bathroom deep cleaned. It was/is overdue and the threat/treat of a visit from my minimalist ideal home DB was enough to kick my arris in gear.
2 Fish for dinner with veg in sauce and using the heat of the oven to cook sausages up at the same time.
3 Caught up with DB and made plans.
For today
1 Both Dh and I had doctors’ appointments, the first time since before covid times, a new to us lady who seems very good. Both sets of tests booked in and requested off the hosp for DH.
2 Dropped into Aldee as on the way back and we just shopped for a few bits but its still ouchy now, did pick up a plant of course.
3 Gardened planting out the things I grew on in the greenhouse that have been sitting on the garden shed roof to acclimatise.
4 Bangers and mash was dinner.
5 The animals always making us smile by helping us with everything.

Hello. Just in from work. It’s another beautiful evening here. Still warm.
Up at ridiculous o’clock. Quick doggy walk. And an early breakfast for him. Into work to do catering. Chatted to DD1 whilst I worked.
Home for a couple of hours then went into town. Had a parcel to post and a bag of stuff for the charity shop from my kitchen cupboards. Got some RTC veggies at M&SWent to DD2 for half an hour.Went to B&Q for plants. Had a money off voucher.
Went to asda where I very rarely go but got two thick strapped vest tops for work. Tis hot at work!Home and made lunch. DD2 was coming with pupster. Made a stir fry with sausages in it. Was rather yummy. And salad.
Read on garden sofa for about 20 minutes after they left then it was time to go back to work for an event. Which had lovely people at it. So that was nice. And home! Brought in the washing and think I’ll be heading to bed soon!

1. Went for a run. 48 minutes of being alone. Wonderful.
2. Beloved said "God you've lost a lot of weight "when I put on my slinky frock.
3. Made mini cheesecakes. Finally found a use for the blackcurrants I preserved last year.
4. Cuddles with Gowron, my favourite kitty. And I fell asleep!
5. Second day of trying to use what's in the freezer, battered tortillas and southern fried chicken.

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Pootled around during the morning then did invigilating in the afternoon.
3) Went to Waitrose afterwards for a cup of tea. Did some Arabic.
4) Tried to copy the Greek takeaway meal with some nice flatbreads (from Waitrose) with kebabs plus salad and feta.
5) Cleaned up and cleaned the bathroom.
6) Have been juggling outside (more height than inside!) Frozen shoulders put a stop to it for years so I need to get good again.
Wonder if this will work...

Arabic and juggling frith! a lady of many talents
1) opening talk at another school's conference - was at the Discovery Centre which is lovely - my talk was about the snakes and ladders of my academic life, and uses some of the slide from the one I'll be doing as a keynote for another University on Thursday... snakes and ladders all drawn by me (copyright free!)
2) and a very nice lunch - macaroni cheese pie, genius, followed by profiteroles and strawberries
3) whizzed back to Ninewells to convene an exam board (all well) then meeting with my Dean (ditto) then thought i'd got some spare time but realised i had yet another meeting - lovely admin bod made me a cup of tea - it's the little things that make one feel cared for
4) home and gave DD2 her birthday card and pressie - a signed copy of Richard Coles latest book and some cash - she has packed both for London
5) with DD2 safely on the sleeper mum and I caught up over a cup of tea. then another cup of tea. And now bed calls

Greetings from beautiful Lesvos 😊🇬🇷
It’s mostly sunny and warm here, although we did have a downpour on Friday evening and the breeze is sometimes more of a wind!
We’re enjoying lots of lazy days on the beach with an occasional dip in the sea or pool or a float on my tyre. Lovely food and wine and beautiful sunsets. We did a trip to Molyvos on the little train and had lunch by the harbour. Just catching up on here before showering and out for dinner .
Glad weather good at home, enjoy ☀️9 -
Looks lovely Paulie enjoy the rest of your holiday 😎
Another day of heat and sunshine here! I’ve actually just came upstairs for a wee while as downstairs is so warm as the sun streams in all the windows!Well my day didn’t go quite to plan but started off with a trip to the beach first thing. It was lovely.
Then mid morning got a call from The Chap to say he was concerned about DD2, so went and picked her up and brought her and pup over here.Prior to that I was hoovering and washing floors and doing laundry and cleaning loos and actually quite enjoying getting caught up. Anyway at least it was done.So no time to relax when there’s a puppy to look after! Everything goes straight to his mouth!
Managed to read for a bit when he had a snooze! Then when I took them home came back and did a bit if the gardening I’d much rather have done when it was cooler. But all plants that I bought yesterday planted. And a few things moved around. Will go out later and give everything a good drink. Pea and beans have started to shoot. Picked the first strawberry 🍓 gave it to my doggy.Had mince and veggies for my tea.6 -
Paulie, they are beautiful photos, have a wonderful time.
1 One more drawer properly tidied rather than just re-arranged, I decided to get on and do another drawer where I halved the tops in there as an experiment of will I wear them and stored the rest in a box. I then moved onto another drawer and changed tack to if it fits. I think some of the things in that particular drawer haven’t been out in a very long time, these are being moved on to a CS. I’ve put a time frame on the stored items and then they will also go, progress
2 My maxi skirt basically fell apart today, ripped at the bottom thought no problem will sew it later, only to see the material has ripped elsewhere and frayed and the waist has all frayed, so it’s now gone.
3 I raised an M and S return, and I am very impressed with how easy and quick it is to do.
4 Picked up a self-sufficiency kindle book reduced on an amazon deal.
5 The first hints of a proper holiday today as DH started mentioning it, thou nothing booked yet, and we have reigned in various camping visits on the well that would buy us 4 nights away at our favourite site.
6 ish, I’m not sure this one is a pleasure yet, DH’s laptop has keeled over so we have been able to get a hard drive on offer to back up properly rather than cloud based from Amaz0n, as the laptop was purchased from Costco I checked today and its under warranty – phew.
