5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

  • It’s fair to say I’ve felt a bit lost the day or 2 after the funeral, and a random phone call from my SIL, who it is also fair to say we haven’t spoken in many years until she came to the funeral, and she had a little news to share and wanted to talk to me – it was very random and really helped me to kind of start to move on to the next chapter.

A very domestic day, I reeled in DH who has been keeping me busy every day and has us booked out every day next week in a bid to keep me going! I said we have to do a bit of home tidying and clearing so:

1 Got up and changed our bedding clean on dirty straight to the washing machine, sneaked a new bottom sheet on, no sense keeping things as new.
2 We need to make space and not move things about, so I’ve been a bit ruthless today, we are making space for a few pieces of DF’s furniture which will replace our rather failing Ikea unit the first thing I ever purchased, I aimed to clear a fair amount and then discovered a quarter of that was more realistic, one bag to keep and 2 bags to the recycling bin. Feels rather therapeutic.
3 Yesterday I couldn’t face dinner and we had a brekkie for dinner instead, but today I used up the various healthy bits in a stew, with various freezer bits including the Christmas gravy which makes a great smelling base for the stew.
4 A wonderful hot cuppa and biscuits- delicious.
5 Spent time literally sitting on the floor surrounded by wood cleaning things, you guessed it cleaning all the wood furniture.
6 I ordered DH up a new pair of crocs, he’s a creature of habit, and wears them all the time.
  • Gosh my second post already!

It's a different format to what I'm used to in my former guise.

Anyway we have had the loveliest late afternoon / evening with our old friends. Much laughter . Lovely food. Great company . Even OH was speaking! We watched a video from when he was in hospital recounting a tale about him and his best friend ( where we were ) made me cry but laugh too. It was nice that he was part of the evening.

I've got a new to me little bedside table for DD1's room ...when she goes!

Haggis dog being delighted to see us when we got in though he had ransacked sons bin!

Very frosty already tonight. Had switched off heating whilst we were out , had it on for an hour whilst we watched Call The Midwife then back off as we are all in beds.

    It's good to be back!

MCC - ordered my new Jack book EONS ago - no email, no word, no book. Not terribly impressed but I live in hope!

    Has Jack got your address?
To check this, log in to Kickstarter, and click on your profile.
Click on 'Cooking on a Bootstrap' in the list of projects you have backed.
When the C on a B page loads, click on the blue 'View Pledge' button.

A pop up will load with 'Rewards - Survey - Messages' in a list of headers.
    Click on 'Survey'.
You will then see a page with 'Response' and 'Name and Address'.
If you responded to the survey with your name and address, they will be listed here, and Jack will be sending you your book in due course
If not, you should still be able to contact her.

I can pmm you an email address for the project if you want it, either here or on Facebook.

I suspect I got my copy as I funded a charity copy for Darlington Library, and included my details and a 'what about my copy, then?' in a message giving the details of whom she should send the library copy to.
I was more polite than that, to be fair, but I think it worked.

I know on her Twitter, jack Is saying that she still has a couple of thousand to send  she personally has to take them to the post office.

I never got round to crowd funding the book, but I did put something in her on line tips jar the other day.

PK - my OH kept me busy too in those first few weeks
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    1. Went to a travel show in London with DH. He wanted to go and tickets were free. It was interesting. Some were very expensive holidays but others reasonable.

    2. Good journey there by train.

    3. Had a coffee in the garden and moved a couple of logs but to cold to do anything else.

    4. Enjoyed watching the rugby.

    5. Started painting downstairs. Only did two fairly small areas as DH not sure he likes the colour.

Hey Mhags, lovely to have you back.

    Sunday pleasures,

Early morning cuddles with little dog.

Bacon butties and catching up all things Ambridge.

Finally got around to clearing my car out, stuffed a handful of the hay in the bird box.

Watching the ongoing battles between the three female blackbirds that visit the garden, really quite viscous!

Quick walk out with horse girlie, she was a bit jig joggy but behaved impeccably.

Delicious Indian meal out with Capt S and eldest hollow legged one, new restaurant to us and a tad pricey but quality of food very good and impressive choice, had salmon in spicy almond sauce, yum.

First scribing from new purple-ish 'phone. Replacement necessary, sadly, despite all best efforts by Mr T's M. & is still amid set of all unexpected events atm.
Today's is not astonishing, but transformation overdue, hence College Salon+debadgering appt. Bon! We've just spotted snow falling outside.
Will muster up some of many recent osps, chronos n/a, nah nah:-), not on & clox.

    1. Fortunately back in uk in time for Grayson Perry talk in Royal Geographical Society Rooms in Exhibition Road, 1830h. Warm en rte greetings/chats from fellow Spits colleagues. As always, & taken by surprise when thus treated.
Please love this from Grayson: "It's never too late to have a happy childhood."

    2. Rugby welcome back extraordinaire in The Alma. 'Where have you been?' Happy Welsh patron))) Happy mutual greetings again, with & declaring club victory, 64-0!!!!!!! Vvvvvvvv g. Most unexpected. As Club lost all 3 matches in & absence, forbiddings strongly delivered, until end of season anyway. & is not allowed further departures.

    3. ...and the teatowels. And the bar mats. Back to big rugby laundry. Have given the lot 2 or 3 boils. Needed. Slowly drying. Added in a few more picked up at early carboot hunt'n'gather pre- 11bells Church yday.

    4. Achingly freezing out, but lovely hugs+catch-ups with M.(also Welsh, so rugby happiness overspill) and L. Some bits acquired, tralala. Fingers very crossed for Thurs. On verra. M LURVES &'s lump of table, ex Cogolin (post passim).

    5. Was caught up with in emporium and 2 fabulous cards and book-shaped gifts rcvd from F. Wonderful choices. Stephen Moss's biog of the robin and a gorgeous other, Sarah Maitland's Gossip from the Forest. The cards are terrific. A cat inserts himself into various Old Masters/Impressionist ptgs. Great fun. Then, sudden soddit moment. & Meriva-ed back to squat, was in nightie, +hwb by 1707h. Some reading, some listening, some sleeping. Stayed in bed 'til 7bells, again so not &.
