Frith glad son has come home.
1. Met a friend for coffee and saw pictures of her new granddaughter. She hasn't seen her yet but will soon. Hadn't seen her in a while.
2. Managed to pay change into the bank. I keep it and most of it was DH!!
3. Sowed some seeds and kept warm in the greenhouse.
4. Had a meal out and a free kit to start with and then given a coffee to take away. The food was good and expensive.
5. Went to local theatre to see a play. The first part wasn't great and then it improved after the interval. We went as had an offer on the tickets.0 -
Forgot one from yesterday - seeing lots of snowdrops in my uncle’s back garden:)

Good afternoon all - what a lovely sunny day it is
Pleasures for yesterday
1. OH and DD went out early so I had a pampering bath with face pack and "the Feud" on Iplayer
2. Made mascarpone lime torte and assembled the lasagne. i love a cooking day.
3. Listened to some old Cabin Pressure whilst i did it - including my favourite "limerick"
4. Finished the Feud, before it runs out tomorrow
5. Friends came for dinner - always lovely to see them and food went down well.
OH is trying to finish the painting today, though it will probably have to roll over until tomorrow as there won't be enough time between coats for it to be dry
Have a good day all - we have lots of yummy leftovers to have for lunch shortlyI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hello...look who it is! mhagster is blocked and was very upset to be so and I've had no response from the forum team as to why so I've recreated with a capital M!
The horror of trying to post last week to be told I was permanently barred from MSE ! Having posted rather gently for 9 years and never knowingly been offensive and just diarising my life here.
Anyway , there have been pleasant happenings over the past week. I'm enjoying the silence after a sleepover with GN...always lovely to have her but lovely to say see you next time!
We had an early 18th birthday celebration last night as DD1 leaves this coming week to return to Melbourne . DD2 enjoying being centre of attention!
We are catching up with DD1's godparents for tea tonight.
We've had some lovely lunches out this past week . One in the grounds of a local castle on a beautiful but blooming freezing day with squirrels running past on the walls outside. The grass covered in snowdrops.
DD2 got her first pay and paid me back a little of what she owed...conveniently forgot about some other cash!
DS had his first driving lesson.
I managed a sugar free Feb for one day and then forgot on the second as we bought ice cream and then there was almost birthday cake last night and then today I made some teeny tiny cupcakes ( having found they teeny tiny cases I knew I had somewhere!)
It's a beautiful day here. Cold but blue sky and sunshine and birds singing. Might get out in garden for a bit. Bought some new pots and compost.
Getting some new to me clothes in charity shops. Some gorgeous tops and dresses and jumpers. I probably don't need anymore but so many of my clothes were for Australian temperatures!
Also got some lovely Roman blinds for my bedroom windows (3) and the fourth one has been claimed by DN for her living room. In a charity shop that had everything half price. Thank you very much. Was on the list of things to buy for my room as tenants had broken other blinds.
DD got a good enough suitcase for £4... a wee airing in the garden and some bicarbonate of soda has got rid of the lofty smell.
My dog boy as always . Much fun, many snuggles , so much handsomeness. He met his 2 lady friends whilst out with DD1 and GN this morning.
Reading all your posts under the guise of a lurker! Wanting to comment and being unable to do so. You've all been in my thoughts and skint I am so sorry for your loss . Give your dad a wee hug from me . Take care.
Continued friendship both here and in Australia. I'm lucky to have some lovely people in my life.
RTC flowers and a lovely bunch of tulips brought by friend last night. I love spring flowers.
Getting washing out on the line. Not totally dry but with the smell of fresh air.
Right, that's a few fro a start ...lets see if this works!0 -
1) Mhags is BACK!
2) A beautiful sunny day, wicked little wind but still worth being out and walking in.
3) Lovely cup of coffee at the garden centre this morning and reduced bread pudding.....you can't be uncheered with reduced bread pudding can you?
4) Toasting by the stove to watch the 6 nations this afternoon and a massive win for England, was a good exciting watch.
5) Passing some beautiful horses when we went for a drive after our coffee, the sunshine and dry day had many riders hacking out along the lanes, unfailingly courteous and very sensible as road users too!0 -
5 Just wolfed down Snorkers, creamy cheese and chive mash, swede and carrots, fresh leeks, pan gravy. Then served with xmas pud and instant lumpy custard. Tim was rubbed and lemonade was drunk.
4 This after yesterday's snorkers and best back, with scrambled eggs, mushrooms, haricot beans in tom sauce, buttered toast! Tea was drunk!
3 Raffles is off hiding inn his own self induced crashing! He nipped in just as BoPsie was opening the conservatory, and hit the door head on! He is licking his embarrassment with his paws. No food has been touched!
2 Night could be another film. We watched Kenny again yesterday! Very good! Recommended viewing!
As with other versions of the Life of BoP, these experiences can lead to a sense of smugness!0 -
VJsmum, Purple kitten, Skint yet Again - all love & courage & strength to you. I wish the world would stop & give you a few moments, but here is maybe the best we can do.
Mhagster - welcome back!
Frith - you are wonderful, & doing a heroic job. People who say daughters are more difficult really should try sons...
House elf - hurrah for the power of the internet but above all for good teachers who work with parents!
LaineyT - so sorry to hear about sinuses but hurrah hay larder full & then chilli fishcakes.
Mrs SD - that sounds like a brilliant family day!
OS Pleasures recently
That first brew of the day.
Son happily watching a Pirate of the Caribbean film & staying tranquil even through "the kissy bits". Can it be he's maturing?!
Recalling speed awareness courses (yes, plural ahem - different counties) over time - one included the most expensive driving lesson (*that* long ago, included a police driving lesson). The hazard perception videos were great fun & I'm delighted you can buy them - soon to be learner son will be presented with "required viewing" & it may become a family exercise. (OK 2 may never drive, eyesight & epilepsy interfering, but awareness can't hurt!)
Met my first lottery winner! Lady won £144 in the local supermarket & was looking touchingly slightly stunned by it.
The emporium staff are charming even as they sell a single bag for life & a free coffee. Do they have a special fish kettle for trout?!
Cherry tree buds still the colour of naked Ribena but gradually getting plumper. Looking forward to tracking the green streaks & then the celestial popcorn that is cherry blossom!
Out of office in daylight & on the company dime as well as company time! Fingers crossed I dodge the worst of the traffic too.
"The universe is already mad, anything else would be redundant." - some lines from Babylon 5 just do not age!
Waved to the tailor - first time I've seen him this year, & in daylight!
I went out to see the supermoon. To find it snowing, great soft Narnian flakes of white, swirling through streetlight, bleaching the surrounding landscape and hiding both moon & stars. [Got to admire it next night, over the Scout Hut.]
Chatting with the bloke who keeps Clermont Ferrand square as clean & tidy as litterbugs let, he told me his boss had suggested a TV for the shed & he wasn't having it as there's "only so much Jeremy Kyle a man can take". Dead right I agreed, ask for knitting lessons! They "like to be doing, after all" & bonus satisfaction of turning a heel, plus all the fond memories.
Eldest turns 19. I'm clutching a birthday cake & wondering where did those years disappear to? I remember his first birthday - poor love had a nasty tummy bug - lift him up to hug & his toes dripped yellow. We learned to oil him at each happy change to stop the corrosive goo adhering. Now he's nearly a foot taller than I am & close to leaving school. Ulp.
A good session in the gym - I'm warm & happy all through, even walking back through snowfall. To find I wasn't wearing the fitness tracker & I've no evidence of my exertions - other than the warm & happy!
"Do women have mid-life crises?"
"Last I checked, I was too darn busy, but I can pencil in a homicide?" (If I've a choice!?)
Right. All health, strength, love, courage, & luck to all as have need. Hot water bottles, and weather appropriate garb likewise.0 -
Welcome back mhags apparently we all have to be gentle cos youre a new person (were we ever anything but!?)
1) had the ills today so spent morning snuggled with the dogs and drinking lots of tea
2) have claimed back another kitchen counter (mrpiano May be talented on the old Joanna but his keeping my kitchen tidy leaves a lot to be desired!)
3) mrpiano and I took the dogs for a long walk up balgay. It was beautiful
4) then walked down to town without dogs to meet dd2 out of work. Went for a coffee
5) just had a light supper of salmon and broccoli. Very tasty. And now to bed having just watched last part of hard sun. I have no idea what that was all about!
( have had to take out apostrophe again - half expecting to be banned for using too many exclamation marks. Not guilty ma lud, it is what happens to apostrophes. Here is one to demonstrate !!!8216;MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hadn't realised I hadn't popped in for a day or two. SYA, how awful for you, your poor Dad and family. Hugs to all who feel they can accept them.
One of my known-through-racing friends, who also used to post on MSE, posted on FB that she lost her mother last week.
It must also have been unexpected as she posted on how much her Mum was looking forward to a visit to the local panto today. Friends daughter has promised to shout extra loud for her grandmother.
Several friends passed away at this time of the year, and there have been quite a few anniversaries.
'You've Got A Friend In Me' is a song which I strongly associate with one friend who died a few years ago.
It came on the radio this morning, and somewhat unexpectedly, I burst into tears. I don't cry in public, so hadn't cried at her funeral. Thankfully, I was sat in the kitchen at the time, and not out and about.
Frith, what a shock, and not the first. Glad bigger son has returned in better mode.
Mhags, yay! Not impressed with MSE, though.
1. Feeling better than I have been after the digestive upsets of the week. I was able to eat again, and a huge pleasure was falling asleep after a meal. This after being awake with hunger earlier in the week, but not able to eat.
2. My Jack Monroe crowdfunded cookbook arrived, and has lots of tempting recipes. It's due out mainstream in August. It was supposed to be signed, and wasn't, but I had almost expected that.
Frith (and any other Jack fans), this book will be worth getting, I think. It has a number of reworked recipes in from books one and two, but lots of new stuff too.
I rather liked the fact that the meat, fish and poultry section was 'Contraband'.
No pics of food in this one, but pencil line drawings of random things related to the recipes, by different artists.
3. Wales won, and my official Wales rugby clothing arrived in time. A beanie, t-shirt, and l.s. t-shirt. All from A!di, naturally.
4. I have a new, large, soft, flat-bottomed, anthracite-grey felt bag to use as a book and magazine rack. I broke my last magazine holder by forcing stuff in, so this hopefully unbreakable one seemed a good buy.
5. Your pleasures, thank you.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
MCC - ordered my new Jack book EONS ago - no email, no word, no book. Not terribly impressed but I live in hope!0
