For yesterday,
Into town for a few bits and had a chat with lady in our haberdashery shop, tbh don’t think she gets too many customers and was just happy to have company.
Finally got round to sitting down and darning my wool socks - thanks again & - used my grandma’s wooden mushroom.
Over to see my horse, cold but sunny enough to take the edge off so we had a little jaunt out.
Saw the buzzard sitting in his tree.
A beautiful full moon rising in the east, put my crystals in a bowl and popped them outside to recharge overnight.10 -
With DH being T2 diabetic, I tend to make sure we have something with us when out, and it needs to be readily accessible, today I found basically a no added sugar thing, it’s oats, seeds, nut and uses a sweetener, I tried one and thought hmm I don’t think he’ll like it, when he did, he said it tasted like cookie dough, so I will take that as a win.
1 Woke up with slightly more than a dusting of snow, we let the ferrets in the garden for a snorkel around, they come in very accusingly wondering why we have done that to the garden. Can’t believe the local schools still called it a snow day.
2 We were low on fuel so popped across to C0stco and filled up at the same time. Bought a few things that were on offer in the store, part portioned up some in fridge and freezer, together with tonight’s pizza.
3 We went into Dunelm for a nosey and I was good I didn’t buy all the marked down fleeces as we have a lot. Ouchy the price of curtains, ouchy ouchy, the last ones I got were from a place called T J Hughes I think I paid about 40 for the matching pair currently up, in fairness this was cough – 23 years ago. Safe to say it’s nowhere near what I’ve just paid for one pair, I need to order the other pair online and they are ouch too.
4 A couple of washing loads done, a pleasure to me I don’t like washing loads lurking.
5 I had to pop out and buy some chicken thighs to chop up small for Nestle while he waits for Monday to roll around, I rather hoped they would have some ham and cheese croissants, probably just as well they didn’t. 😉

A bit of an in and out kind of day. Another beautiful bright day but blooming freezing.Dropped stuff off at charity shop. Bought a white stuff jumper that was half priced again. A lovely wooden bowl, I saw it the other week and thought on the off chance it was still there I’d get it.Big supermarket ( seeing as I was parked there for charity shop) and a few bits bought. Then home bargains for soap powder and loo roll…oh and solar lights😆
DD2 called , could I pick stuff up for het at GP, so decided to walk through the big park. Brrrrrr but a nice walk. Then decided to walk to pharmacy for her…grrrr at a can you come back in an hour. Really? So walked the longer way back. I did drive to get it an hour later though.Quick doggy walks as he’s still not quite right.Lovely sunset.11 -

Pleasures for yesterday
1. good train journeys to Kent and back
2. lunch with two of my siblings. Always good to catch up and we had a laugh
3. read my book on the train
4. walked three miles to, from and in-between stations
5. OH came home not as drunk as he might have been and we watched an episode of the jury
6. DS has an interview for a job he really wants (though I have misgivings, but he's happy).
and today
1. my last scheduled Wednesday of work until at least October (which isn't sorted yet so may not happen).
2. Not too much panic by students given their dissertations are due in next week.
3. OH's UGV (unnecessary German vehicle for those who remember Chickenopolis and the OGV) has been sold and gone - i said it was unnecessary. Have not said "I told you so" which is rather restrained of me i think. 🤣
4. Fridge fairy has done her thing again.
5. Anticipation of clean sheets.
Have a nice evening.
I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
What an exciting day! Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Did jobs round the house and Arabic first thing.
3) A snow day! Smaller son woke up and immediately wanted to go for a walk, so we did.
4) I went to see bigger son. He has bought a small pool table off FB marketplace. It has pride of place in his attic. I took some pots of herbs round for his kitchen. I like how excited he and his girlfriend get about each new discovery in the house. Today they worked out how to set the thermostat and also how to turn the gas fire up!
5) Went to Sainsburys for baklava and bits for tea. Tea was burgers in nice buns with various trimmings and onion rings.
6) My replacement Led Zeppelin 4 CD came. I haven't had it in the car for probably 7 years, since an unfortunate egg breaking incident in the CD compartment.
7) Smaller son and I went out again at about 5pm for another walk/snowball fight. Like in the old days, about a dozen cars were stranded on the steepest hill out of the village so I got my spade and threw grit around for half an hour (there are grit bins on the hill). Lots of people in a jolly mood waving with people stopping to push other cars. I've always enjoyed walking down there and trying to do something to help. Smaller son supervised where to throw grit to best effect.
8) Just had a shower as the grit had taken a layer of skin off me. In bed now with 1 hwb and will watch television just now.

For yesterday,
Woke up feeling a bit meh so not much done in the way of sloggus domesticus but did achieve a fair bit of reading my book!
The snow started around lunchtime but unlike Frith nothing settled to start with.
Over to see horse, she was in a grumpy mood ( seasonal ) so just made sure she was warm with plenty of hay and left her with a carrot.
Freezing cold so a sausage casserole was a most welcome tea.
Opened door at 8pm to let small dog out and the snow was at last settling on the grass, she had a good sniff through and come in with snow on her nose.8 -
Morning!
We finally have the snow, actually starting to settle a bit. We pretty much always get snow around my birthday so nothing new there then!
Today's pleasures:
1) Hubby has gone set building for their upcoming production so I am sat peacefully with a coffee and a snowy view.
2) Actually not so peaceful as the builders have started in the 'big house' knocking through a lounge, the dining room, the kitchen and garden room so, although my door is firmly shut, there is a distant hum and some banging going on. At least it's started!
3) The steels that are going to prop the house up are in the garden where my summerhouse is going, so as soon as they are up hubby and son can make the base and I can confirm a delivery date. Yay!
4) Went to the local theatre last night, a local theatre group production and it was excellent.
5) Had a good go yesterday at the cupboard of doom in the hall and my kitchen cupboards and drawers. When the kitchen was done we pretty much shoved stuff in randomly and it's been irritating ever since. Now sorted and will work much better, just need to remember where everything is.
Ten more minutes peace and then I'll have to go and sort a meal for everyone for tonight as, of course, they now have no kitchen!
Enjoy your day, take care if you are out in the snow.10 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Pretty much everything cancelled as it just kept on snowing! It is thawing now, though very slowly here.
3) Did plenty of Arabic.
4) Made a quiche with some salmon cooked yesterday. Have some pastry left for tomorrow,
5) Had a very quick snowball fight with smaller son. The snow was too wet for snowballs so we were nearly getting concussed.
6) Had an Indian takeaway for tea.
A very quiet day!8 -
For yesterday,
A woodpecker, greater-spotted, on the suet treats first thing, the sparrow squadron sat underneath the feeder pecking up his leftovers.
Rough day weather wise so horses stayed in, went over to see my girl and she was in a better mood, enjoying her groom and accepting a cuddle from her Mum.
A convoluted journey home due to various road closures but tried to just enjoy the Suffolk countryside.
Bit of a lazy afternoon as weather was still pretty foul, read my book and caught up on some blogs.
Easy tea of baked spuds with cheesey beans.7 -
