Happy birthday Highdays - i'm guessing it has a 0 in it? I'm in my 60th year and have read that if you're not grown up by 50 you don't have to.
Pleasures for yesterday - they're going to be hard to find after the mega friday night but i'll try
1. did i mention my bed? it counts as a pleasure for today as i got into it at 2.45 am
2. listened to some Lizzo as me and DD are going to see her this week
3. had a nice bathy - no energy for anything else. Watched the first episode of 'Wolf Hall'.
4. gin and tonic
5. cooked an 'italian beef casserole' for tea.
6. My bed - againI wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
Happy big birthday Highdays. Sounds like lots of lovely things happening.
well big day number one done. Oooft! Another busy day with atrocious tips😆 but a smidge more than I had this morning!Came home to beautiful flowers delivered from the church ( for husband anniversary) lady delivering said to DD2 oh is it because it’s a birthday ( birthday bunting up in window ) eh…well it was my birthday but probably because my dad died. Oh said the lady. Bye. But very nice to still be remembered.Dog nabbed the last cupcake. It was left within his reach. Paper case and all. Sigh. More a dog pleasure than a me one considering I was very busy at work and could have done without the call!Sisters in law brought me a lovely spring bulb tub. The tiny irises are already flowering. Lovely. It’s been a week with such lovely kindness shown and being enveloped by friendship. I always say it’s nice to be nice 😊10 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Tidied up vaguely.
3) Went to M and S for a pot of tea and to do some Arabic. Someone came over to speak to me and it was bigger son's girlfriend's mum! We had a quick chat about them being happy in their new home.
4) I went to bigger son's house where he had cooked Sunday lunch.
5) Came home and listened to a podcast.
6) Went out for the evening. Watched a football match and saw loads of muntjac on the way home.9 -
Happy belated birthday Highdays, sounds like you had a fab time.
For yesterday,
One of those quiet, but lovely Sundays spent at home.
Listened to the Hurchers omnibus and sniffed my way through Jenny’s funeral.
Mini shed clear out, I was looking for a leather girth that I seem to have mislaid but no luck.
Cold afternoon walk but the birds were busy in the hedges and signs of spring were everywhere.
Buttered crumpets for tea and catching up on Hotel Portofino, makes me want to go on holiday somewhere warm.9 -
Hi.
Thank you for the very kind birthday wishes. Yes, VJsmum, a definite 0 following a very scary 7. How did that ever happen!! So relieved to know I don't need to grow up, I can give it up as a bad job and grow old(er) disgracefully, phew!
Some quick pleasures:
1) Hubby is slowly getting better but has to keep sitting down and resting, doesn't like the antibiotics but they are definitely helping. I just want him back to normal.
2) A nice, quiet sort of day after all the excitement. Pottered about doing a bit of this and a bit of that, watered my plants, sorted some washing, very 'Monday Tea'.
3) Have decided not to do any food shopping for the rest of the week, we have loads of stuff in and two freezers absoutely rammed. So today I've roasted a load of vegetables, made a jelly I found at the back of a cupboard, done some baking and planned a week's worth of meals with what we've got. Mackerel and spinach frittata for tea with ratatouille and stir fried cabbage followed by jelly and sponge with custard. There may be some even more unusual combinations at the week goes on!
4) Had a spray of my mum's perfume today, not one I would choose and there's not much left, so save it for days when I especially want to feel her near. 70 years ago she had a brand new baby and I can't have been too bad because she went on to have three more!
5) Didn't have to put the lights on til about six o'clock today, but I like the fact the evenings are still dark so we can hunker down and not feel guilty putting our feet up with a good book - six new releases came my way from the library today, a lovely pleasure.
Hope you've all had a good start to the week, enjoy the evening. I know I rabbit on a bit here but have to say it's lovely to be back!

Highdays I’ve been rabbiting on here for 13 years. I wouldn’t worry 😆😆😆
Big hurrahs that the working week is done. Short and at times not always sweet but it’s done!A rubbish night. A poorly dog boy so was on the sofa dozing under two fleece blankets till 2.30am. Came back to bed then for another couple of hours then time to get up for work.Nipped home to check he was okay though he did have company I just wanted to see him. We just sat and had a cuddle.Busy enough day at work. Went by quicker than yesterday though exact same amount of time!Much better tips. And good company and laughter and chatter.Home with a quick nip into supermarket to get some cooked chicken for my boys tea. He just had rice this morning. Then we’ve just sat on the sofa and cuddled. My brother visited yesterday ( the pleasure was I was at work!) ‘is she in?’ ( she not being the cat’s mother but me) . My daughter thought he might have realised I wasn’t as he was parked in my spot in the driveway! She was out when I came in from work yesterday so I was just getting updated this evening. Not really having any tea as had a late mug of very delicious soup ( I make very delicious soup!) at work and then we were doing a prototype of an afternoon tea box so the contents were divied up…I had a sandwich. So not particularly hungry. And they were sharing a cake earlier…cut in it four…me just cut it in three. I’m not eating cake! The little bowl of bulbs from SILs has now got irises and daffodils flowering today.Lovely sunrise to the back of the house and an almost full moon to the front and a blackbird singing sits evensong. It’s to be cold here overnight.10 -
And again!
Gone all …
Oh well, working from home via the van to the Tower. Guaranteed pension increased by another £80 a year just by doing so, and vet pension up as well.
Just list Ning to radio, and the Iron Works team, should be confident they have the right mismanagement team to get them out of the Conference at the thirst attempt and secure the future, in the Northern division. Sorry PH.
Was out for din dins last day. Very good and crackling. Sherbets were taken. On the other hand, just checked. The Mariner’s put seven goals past ManU on Boxing Day 1933! Bodes well for the £1,000,000 match against the gulls!
Had the cod and peas for dinner, with ear de faucet. Now readied fir cheeses and fruit waters. More soon.
Jen sends her
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!10 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Tidied up and pootled around during the morning.
3) Went to M and S and did plenty of Arabic and had a cup of tea. Just realised I have only had a piece of toast so far today!
4) Went to the English lesson. One man asked how my son's house move had gone. I only mentioned in passing the other day that I was keeping my eye out for some saucepans so I was quite touched that he would remember. I have been asked to join in on ParkRun on Saturday, which isn't really my sort of thing at all, but I will drive a few chaps up there and take a flask!
5) I popped to Sainsburys and bought a new house card which I shall post just now.
6) Caught up on Casualty.8 -

1. A lovely, special village hall service yesterday.
2. No snow yet and 2hwbs snugly in bed.
3. Lent pledges still intact - wine, choc, dairy - amazingly. An orderly queue has apparently begun😊for after Easter at Peacock🦚🏉 HQ, where & has 3🍷already waiting. Our senior squad boys are beautiful young men and great huggers.💞
4. Exceptional, insistent, incredibly kind offer from someone - under consideration.
5. Still revelling in last Friday's Lucie Rie invitation preview at Kettle's Yard, after scoreboard duty at Peacock HQ, for 1st Secondary Schools U18s semi-final. Over 1000 present. Oakham beat Winsford and head to Twickenham for the final. & will be going back to Kettle's Yard again and again for more of this.

And this wonderful chat with David Attenborough as she works, a saved Omnibus gem from 1986, is part of it. Watched it twice, then it was 'Come back again anytime...we're shut now' at 22h.
