I wanted to pop on to say thank you so much for the kind words, the support on here means a lot. I haven’t been keeping it together today, but there are some pleasures even in a rather bleak time. Mhags also dropped me a note on FB, hope the MSE team are able to sort the forum issues very soon!
1 Costco deli food picked up for tomorrow the lady was so kind, I was looking very pale.
2 DF’s piano sold, and they picked it up today, he would be so pleased its gone to a local young girl who is smitten with learning piano.
3 Everyone has phoned.
4 We have upgraded our security and changed locks for our own peace of mind, DH kindly did it when we got back from DF’s tonight.
5 Finally found the words I hope to say.0 -
Awake, pk, and thinking of you.
I know I will be doing so at points during this singular day for you, too.
I still have my beloved uncle's voice and my aunt's with me at surprising moments.
There will be moments of loveliness, real strength and reassurance for you and DH today.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

PK will be thinking of you today.
1. Took books to League of Friends shop. It must be good for my arm muscles too carrying them. Noticed some jigsaw there so will take mine after I've finished them.
2. Another gaffe cake at lunch time. Refused the chocolates and this is unusual for me.
3. DS1 was hit by a car but he is ok but his back is jarred and very little damage to his car. He was going at 30 past a speed camera and the car but the back of him.
4. See the moon as a lovely clear sky. It certainly looked larger yesterday evening than it does this morning.
5. Lighting my candles.
DD I would have done the same with the coffee if I wasn't drinking it!0 -
Wednesday pleasures,
Able to do a favour to much harassed pal, held her horse whilst lovely farrier did her mare's feet, ex yard is a sad place now, glad pal is moving tomorrow.
Farrier had assistant who is doing a bit of work for him until he moves over to new yard, in Florida! Something to dream about on a cold, wet January day.
Impromptu chat with friendly eastern european chap behind petrol station counter, always smiling, always cheerful but very worried how he is regarded since THAT vote, sad to hear.
Capt S wanted the match on, fast first goal had him smiling, not so the special one
Last walk around the garden with little dog, moon so bright it was casting shadows of the beech trees on our lawn, impressive and despite the cold I moon-bathed for a while.0 -
THoughts with PK this sad day - keeping it together isn't expected at the moment but you WILL get better.
DD - i'd have done that
VL - goodness, re DS. Glad it wasn't worse
Ampersand - same with my mum. I always joke that she is still telling me off, 8 years after passing
Pleasures for a frustrating day yesterday when i did a 41/2 hour round trip to be stood up by an interviewee
1. Nice walks to and from station so 40 minutes was not wasted
2. Did the shopping with DD - whilst generally I am quicker (and cheaper) if i go alone, occasionally i like others to come so that i know what they want me to buy
3. Frustrating morning led to a general fed up-ness, so i gave up all pretence of working and cleaned the house. We are mid - decorate so it only got a cat's lick all over but is much better for it.
4. More episodes of the Feud while i cooked and Tom Wrigglesworth (on R4) while I cleaned - the latter had real LOL moments
5. OH and the neighbour have sorted (temporarily) the problem in ICT.
Have a lovely day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Apologies for these extras, but another My Goodness! for your son, vl... which I'm sure recalls your son's only too recent DG moment, vjm.
Just pulling in for Stansted as we speak.
Shouldn't be anywhere near here, but &'s adventurous day has already turned into that, unexpectedly.... explication will follow.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

1) Last night's moon and getting up in the wee small hours and seeing that the world was lit bright and beautiful by it.
2) Lovely walk to the library in the sunshine this morning. Chilly but I've warm clothing and the wind has dropped so it was most pleasant indeed.
3) Coffee!!!
4) Salmon on the menu for supper tonight, always a treat.
5) W8rose have started doing bags of peeled and sliced fresh butternut squash which always seem in our branch to be reduced to about the same price as buying a whole one. I really like butternut squash but HATE processing them.....happiness in a bag!0 -
5 Not that you will need any encouragement from BoP about blowing your own trumpet, but some days the bugle call is too good to miss! Was up norff yesterday, hence no update at lunch in your version of the life of BoP. Shirt maker needs our cotton finished product. So there!
4 As well as it is pass the palace of BoP, I whipped up BoPsie and took her out to lunch as well! Talking of lunch, Raffles, who lodges at our place and is available on hire for the needy, came home after being out for about 49 seconds. You have a limited time to demouse him, before he starts throwing his weight! One day he will grow out of it. We feed him as well!
3 Talking of throwing the weight around, BoP is not showing off his beach ready body today as it is a Thursday and he will be projecting himself at the camera club instead. Best of both worlds. Minded about second photo for the competition. Don’t know whether to include the one where the lights are reversed or not.
2 Talking of that, the emporium of w8rs cannot make its mind up about the cakes of jaffa at the moment at what price to discount them at. So todays box of lunch has two of these items for BoP to devour! Cheese and other nice treats are included as well as proper food. Good for you.
And that is how it happens in your version of the life of BoP!0 -
PK, have been thinking of you. VJsmum, I know my mum is still keeping an eye.. just as well, too.
1. Feeling better after stupidly eating something I shouldn't have. I bought a packet of seaweed strips, mail-order, and nibbled them. Mistake. It was 'cooking' seaweed, not 'nibble' seaweed, and needed to be washed, to have excess salt removed. Mild salt poisoning and completely unable to eat for two days. Lesson learned. Gone right off seaweed as a result...!
2. Loved watching Winterwatch, I adore all the programmes.
3. Tidier house... much tidier, as my friend came to help (paid her for this) following a visit from my cleaners. Lots of recycling recycled, items moved from A to B or out of the door.
4. My 'Oldie' magazine arrived, first 3 issues for a quid. I've waited for years to be old enough to read this..! I have a lovely Elisabeth Luard cookbook (s/h) that was published by the Oldie, some years ago.
5. Your pleasures, thank you. &, thanks for the heads-up.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Greetings everyone & warm hugs to one & all.
Today’s pleasures:-
1. Early morning plans out of the window as overslept so had a Lovely hot bath & hair washWas going to use some old bath salts but nothing came out of the jar (even though it was full) so used up 3 little bottles of hotel shower gel instead.
2. The joy of only taking 30 mins to detangle my long hair:T
3. :(Bus stop closed, so had to walk to the next one but wasn’t loaded down & it wasn’t raining:j
4. Reaching the bus stop BEFORE the bus:T
5. Posting parcels to DSis as promised.
6. Getting to doctor’s with plenty of time to spare & dropping off ood medicines at pharmacy.
7. Doctor gave me good news - no perforated ear drum & although my hearing is quite bad in the high frequency I can wait six months or so before revisiting the idea of hearing aids! So I will just have to put up with the mumbling actors on TV:eek:
8. Finished last night’s Chinese takeaway so no cooking:)
Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone.
MrsSD
