Big hugs suffolksue
I must write my talk tomorrow vjsmum - very much wishing i had written it when i wrote the abstract - i mean what was i even thinking?!?! but for today
1) started the day with my 23 minutes declutter - slowly but surely
2) lovely lunch with mum and friends. food took an age to arrive but was absolutely lish - I had a poke bowl having met and fallen in love with them in Munich at which point 3 of the 4 others switched their orders to poke bowls. slightly nerve-wracking but fortunately they all loved them
3) then mum and I went to the McManus Gallery for their Street exhibition which closes Sunday. Was really good
4) walked home via the Oxfam book shop and the library - reserved the latest Raynor Winn book
5) mum and I watched My Old School - goodness me! And oh look there's Dundee Medical School
and have moved my laundry basket to my en suite - wondering why on earth i didn't do that beforeMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello.
Been in a very mardy mood all day. Sick of people not doing what they say they will and dallying about as it always seems to be me who has to pick up the pieces and sort stuff out in the end. I don't like last-minute panics that are not of my doing and I'm fed up of being sucked into other peoples' dramas. Oh dear, see what I mean about the mardy mood??!
Anyway, there will be pleasures to be found if I dig deep enough and focus on the positive:
1) It would be a sad world if we were all the same.......wouldn't it?
2) Saw grandsons 2 and 3 for the first time this year, had cuddles for as long as they could stand it before they wanted to be off and doing. And quite right too!
3) Finished a very indifferent book but now started on one that shows a bit more promise. Love a good book so here's hoping.
4) Couldn't be bothered cooking so hubby fended for himself from a fridge full of nice leftovers and I had a scrummy smoked bacon, egg and ketchup sandwich. We had bought some lovely food treats from a farm shop on the way to Scotland and, although I nearly fainted at the till, we have had some really delicious food to eat that I wouldn't pay those prices for normally.
5) Going to draw a line under the day and take myself off to bed with my book. Probably to everyone's relief!
There, made it, though the non-pleasures outweighed the pleasures today so hopefully tomorrow everyone will shape up a bit and I won't have any reason to be Mrs Grumpy. And on that note I'll strop off to bed!

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) To the cinema again, 10 - 4. Had a day of dismantling scenery and wrapping the pieces to go into storage. Friendly people today and many cups of tea.
3) Did a bit of Arabic. Duolingo seems to have zoomed on quickly before I quite got the hang of the last bit!
4) The estate agent phoned from yesterday (not the man himself but someone else from that company) and she was very chatty! I felt mean telling her I would wait until viewing again on Saturday before making a decision.
5) So tired from manouevering things that I had to have a lie down after doing the housework. Then I got up again and made pasta with salmon and peas.
6) Watched Ambulance.8 -
Hugs Highdays, we're all allowed to have mardy days, glad your fancy sarnie worked some magic x7

Suffolksue - just holding you in my thoughts.Frith - all the very best with house hunting - it’s hard work! I think you’re absolutely right to view again by full daylight. A house is a bit big to impulse buy!Topsyturphy - having a 24 hour gap in the working week is a definite pleasure!DundeeDoll - leek & ham pie made with cream sounds glorious, what a wonderful way with leftovers! Had to Google the poke bowl - sounds delicious & Hawaiian.Villagelife - so right to pack carefully, I had to mend some things last year.LaineyT - the after-Christmas post is often quite fun! Much less predictable….VJsmum - some days you can line dry, others not! Delighted the DVD conversion has worked even if it misses some important hugs!Kittikins - you’re learning Welsh? Hurrah that DD is a talented baker. Hurrah new dinner set & farewell chipped plates!Purple kitten - corned beef hash is one if my favourite dishes - now I know Why!Highdays - some days are just Meh. Much intrigued imaging the Scottish dark shop foodie treats.Misread a crumpled M&S bag as as FOUST & thought quite a few people had probably struck that bargain over Christmas. (Uncrumpled, not just food)The wind is blowing vigorously so I got up early to wash & peg out the bedlinen - it then rained (but of course), so the duvet cover is draped over a stepladder evaporating slowly. Pleasure in resisting the siren call of the tumble drier!Sisterly love includes reminding her to take the calcium supplements & cheering her on as the tub is clamped between the knees. Pleasure at the speakerphone cheers as she gets in.I have deChristmassed! (Although I must admit, we didn’t aim terribly high this year.) My silver tinsel tree, whilst small, is still going strong & is now back in its box for another 11 months or so. Pleasure is knowing where it all is, & scheming to donate the other crate in November.Youngest declares “I’m going to cook Hotpot” & just happens to sweep up a tub of chocolates (ye gods these seasonal leftovers) as he strolls. I adore my sons - they make me laugh. [The hotpot was delicious, too.]Health strength love & courage to all as have need, absorbent handkerchieves warm hugs & healing sleep likewise.9

Pleasures for Wednesday
1. DM messaged to say she was feeling slightly better.
2. Made pasta salad to take into work
3. Went food shopping and lovely cashier told me to unload at next till as it was opening so didn’t have to queue.
4. Took some time off the night to try and go home and sleep.
5. In bed, clean bedding was put on earlier in the day. Will be asleep soon I hope.9 -
Good morning
High days - fingers crossed today is better.
Another dentist visit for DH today and a fasting blood test tomorrow. Sometimes our life revolves around medical appointments! But even that is a blessing in its own way.
Finished Mad Honey. Oh My! I think it's one of her best yet.
Finished fingerless glove prototype. Will drop it off at DGD's en route to dentist for her to try. Might see if posh wool shop has a sale to do the proper ones. Will only need one ball. ( about all I can afford from there!)
Watched Silent Witness. Thought I was watching Line of Duty at one bit. Very dramatic.
Stew and dumplings for tea. My cooking style regresses 50 years in winter!
All decorations now down. Always makes me sad. But little tree in its pot is braving the weather in the garden and still looks healthy so may be ok for next time.
Happy blowy day everyone9 -
For yesterday,
After 3 weeks of this cough it finally seems to be departing.
With the above I felt energised enough to do a good clean upstairs, bathrooms done and layers of dust swept & cleaned.
Made a loaf, wholemeal with malty flakes, yum.
Over to see pony, she had obviously been having a fine old time charging around her field if the mud splatters on her belly were anything to go by, at least there were dry enough to brush off.
Had found a packet of chippolatas in the freezer that I obviously brought in anticipation of making pigs in blankets, defrosted and used in a toad in the hole with mashed carrot & swede.8 -
1. Long chat with a work friend- we both needed it at the end of the day.2. Walk round the hospital at end of day with the friend to pay for parking and get fresh air. Only very slight drizzle.
3. Finished taking decorations down. All packed away but now need to put in cupboard which DH has filled. Christmas tree needs to be taken out to be shredded.
4. Cheese n toast - to use up some of the cheese we have left.
5. Finishing watching silent witness which had been recorded.9 -
Morning all, hugs to those in need of one 😊
First shop since before Christmas, no bargains to be had but managed to keep to reasonably healthy stuff, I.e. no cakes, biscuits, tiramisu etc 🤣
Made a lovely butternut squash, red pepper, sweet potato and carrot soup, using up the last of the cream.
Christmas decorations down, it looks very bare, but I do have a twig light that I use during the year plus the odd candle and wax melt burner. Will have to try and repack the huge box as I didn’t fit it all in!
Lunch out with 2 oldest friends yesterday, always good to see them and a bargain 2 course lunch at the Beefeater for £9.95 including a rump steak, can’t be bad! Did OH pie, chips and peas for his dinner, I didn’t need anything.
We watched a drama we had missed out on, Deadwater Fell, quite good and had some chocolate still left from Christmas. I think that must be the last of it!
Have a good Thursday everyone 😊9
