Hello ! It’s still dark and dismal here! C’mon spring hurry up!For yesterday:
Phone call and photographs from friend who’s on holiday.Enjoyed sourdough toast and marmalade for breakfast.Pottered around in the morning. Then put a pile in the car, chucked in a doggy too and off we went. Quick walk for him, dropped stuff off at friends, charity shop drop off and then recycling centre drop off. The doggy may have barked at the chap who was asking me my appointment time.Resisted the temptation of the supermarket as I really don’t need!Phoned sister. Then drove to pick up a couple of very large rugs that were a good price. I even haggled 😆 About a 20 minute drive through countryside to get them with a nice wintery low sky ( though thankfully home before dark) , met my old primary teacher when I went to the cash machine. Quick chatter. Nice chat with the lady I was buying them from then somehow managed to squeeze them in my tiny car , it was a shame I couldn’t squeeze dog in too as we were 5 minutes from the beach.Home and managed to lug them into house with a hello doggy.Made macaroni for tea ( well with spaghetti as that’s what I had pasta wise!) topped mine with some leftover from Christmas ham and red onion. Then early to bed.Have a good day!Sue sending love. It doesn’t get easier ( and why would it?) but just know we’ve got ya!9 -
Sue - hugs to you
Highdays - you took to your bed!! I totally get it, i've had times where i've just had to go "I've had enough of today, i'm off to bed" - sometimes as early as 7.30 - 8.00. I don't often sleep then, i'll watch something on my ipad usually, it's just that i want no further part of the day if that makes sense.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. A circuit by the sea - stayed dry, just
2. came back for a cuppa then off to Aberdovey for lunch. The one open cafe was, unsurprisingly, full. We walked around the few shops that were open before returning and, suddenly, three tables were empty. We'd only been gone 5 minutes or so. Had delicious bubble and squeak with two poached eggs.
3. Did a walk up towards picnic island and another circuit when we got back. We walked about 5 miles in all.
4. in a couple of weeks, we're moving our bedroom upstairs (just waiting for carpet to be laid), so i started clearing out some stuff.
There were clothes that arrived with me 7 years ago that haven't seen the light of day since.
5. watched a couple of episodes of "The recruit" and Ambulance.
Have a good day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
A very quick hello!
Thank you so much for all the kind words, you lovely people have no idea how much your support helps.
I did indeed take to my bed and, once there, had a really good cry and then fell fast asleep! Woke up feeling a bit wobbly but better. I really missed my mum over the festivities and it suddenly hit me that this is the first year that she won't see and once the bungalow is sold, which looks likely in the next couple of weeks, I will have lost her completely. That and the fact that people were being total dorks yesterday finished me off completely.
Very quick drop in because we now have to do a mercy dash to Newbury of all places, three and a half hours each way so we have decided, in a mad rush, to go today and stay overnight so I've literally thrown some stuff in a bag and we go in ten minutes. Another case of sorting other people's problems but hey ho!!! Just been on the PC to book a hotel and didn't want to read your so kind messages and then disappear.
Catch up soon, byee!

1. Got a later bus, which thanks to it not yet being term time meant I still got in early!
2. Snowdrops in the front quad brightened my spirits even further!
3. Heno, bydda i'n gwneud fy waith cartref i (Tonight I'm going to do my (Welsh) homework) 😀. I'm learning Welsh because I'm proud of my grandparents and back roots from the Valleys, and also for intellectual stimulation...... Although this morning I did discover an online ancient Greek textbook that's caught my eye I studied it for O level and DD may well learn some when she goes to uni, so it could be a mother/daughter activity!
4. Going to cook cauliflower curry tonight and might sneak the last of the sprouts in there as I was surprised when DD had some without picking them out in a bubble and squeak the other night!
5. Enjoyed another great night's sleep, I'm so, so happy about it!10 -
topsyturphy - clean bedding is a hugely underrated pleasure.Happpycas - why is it the Really Nice wool costs So Much? (Very nearly bought a sheep for its fleece one year, but was talked out of it.)LaineyT - yeay, Toad in the hole - Real Food!villagelife - tree taken to be taken out & shredded sounds terrifying!PaulieHerts - oooh your Beefeater bargain sounds good.mhagster - you even haggled?! Hurrah & wecloemn to very large rugs...VJsmum - "I want no further part of the day" = elegant words for a not feeling at all elegant feeling. 7-years-past capsule wardrobe intrigues.Highdays - tears are strong medicine. May your mercy dash to Newbury work out as hopedKittikins - if you ever visit your grandparents home regions using Welsh will open more doors & prompt more memories. I bumped into plygain about a fortnight before Christmas & am hiking through a couple of books with google translate! Mind, Greek is wonderful both for spelling & rude words.Iron Maiden stamps coming! Excellent! I slightly wonder what Her Majesty made of the designs & grin at the formal correctness concealing an enthusiasm for heavy metal. (I presume she got to see the stamps - will Charles enjoy extending the philatelic collection?)The engineer, having tried to fill his outrigger with sand, is now emptying it to replace the sand with epoxy. Pleasure is in listening to his familiar stubborn problem solving. The ferreting, furtling contrapting is a lovely familiar noise! This morning two of us are coughing & the third has taken measures - I am handed a filled HWB & a beanie hat for indoor wear.Fellow cougher, handing over 3 mugs with abandoned cold brews, opined “you make good tea by the way” - that’s all in the way I use a tablespoon to put the sugar in…I have wassailed my apple trees! I couldn’t look up the proper words (no signal) but croaked some of “here we come a-wassailing” & then broke into “bloom well fruit well” and forgot the rest. Headed back down the garden & missed the first step (no toast or alcohol, but falling over seemed expected) landed soft on wet leaves etc, got back up & was at the bottom of the garden when I recalled “hats full, caps full, sacks full”. Expression on Youngest’s face indicated clearly Any Bad Spirits would definitely have legged it, so I could stop, now, please. So I am now quietly indoors. Having wozzled sufficiently.Health strength love & courage to all as have need &, when all else fails, a cup of tea.9

Kittikins - Nos da. Rydw wedi blino!
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a great sleep. Smaller son got very upset and I still haven't worked out why.
2) Off to the cinema again. Saw 2 very small kittens perched on someone's living room window sill as I walked from my car (on the inside of the house!) Shifted and carried stuff. Have pulled some muscles in my legs over the past 3 days.
3) Put the Christmas decorations away. Changed my bed. Washing machine is on.
4) Took smaller son to our football club where I picked up 6 footballs for the asylum seekers. Smaller son told me they include one of the match balls from last season.
5) Made kebabs for tea, with rice.

So aptly, & has to start her osps on p1949 - wonder why?😁#1. Another no-transport (still no car fix in sight😈)1hr walk to midweek Communion. Only 2 to go with our wonderful S. In a fortnight, we'll end her last one with a shared breaking of bread and soup.🙂2. Lift back saved all but last ½-mile. & grateful, raced in, swapped far-too-warm vintage Aquascutum (carboot £1 about 99 years ago)for light waterproof, changed to trainers and made it another mile for another bus to Town of Horse. Perfect timing.3. ....because & had boots needing repair. Only when back from osp4 did & see that the left heel of her late 90s, flat, custom-made, green leather+suede, white kid-lined boots(one of late R's extravagant gifts)was no longer in situ! Had walked about Town of Gown all day, unaware. Lainey will know The Good Place in Town of Horse.....chap was hugely complimentary about them, will custom make and replace both heels with some special leather, make and fix protective plates. £20 gladly paid in advance. Worth it in many ways.4. Soddit Tuesday meant last-minute pantomime matinée in Town of Gown. Who knows why? Not I, but why not?😁 So glad I went. Glorious time was had by all of every age in the full house audience. Happy CS and JLP sale browsing beforehand. A couple of nonsense-y bits for rugby raffle - yes, &'s back in evil mode on Saturday - and even treated self to in-house coffee. Cambridge Arts Theatre is just such a good space and place. Shhhh! OAPs aren't supposed to exist beyond their £182.60 wkly, certainly not attend paying events....much less also book for fave and divine Miles Jupp, in 'The Lavender Hill Mob' with Justin Edwards. Same day as S's last mid-week Communion. Another great day awaits.5. Back to rugby Preview writing and subbing, first one of the year and second half of the season. Tough match v Colchester..... tomorrow! We face all 3 above us, including runaway leaders, Westcombe Park, this month
😬🤔😶🤨 On verra - and what & has been waiting for is just in, DoR's words and team selections post-tonight's training. It's a big Saturday for the 🦚🏉Senior Squad:1st XV and our Nomads. Also sudden massive upheaval and all change, very necessary, behind the scenes at Peacock HQ in the last 10 days. Better times ahead.#......😬🥴😵💫😖🤞5th posting attempt, saved in 3 ways.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

1) dfv today made my first poke bowl at home - it was lish
2) used the Pomodoro technique to get through to the end of my student's phd thesis - now sent back to him - and fitted in various very short household tasks plus longer ones for dog walks and my 23 minute declutter. talk shaping up.
3) have been invited to Ottawa to run some workshops in April - need to shift something but fingers crossed
4) dd2 has rediscovered her cello (the joys of actually starting to get rooms straight) - so lovely to hear (she hasn't played since S4 at school)
5) football with DrM and MrE - as usual walked home with DrM and chatted about nothing in particular. The night sky was looking beautiful - DrM told me about a kingfisher taking residence at the botanics then asked me when my talk is (it's next thursday eek) - says he'll maybe tune in and pass on the details to MrE.
DD1's liver scan tomorrow - first scan since initial scan though she won't know the results till she sees her hepatologist. what will be will be.
