5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3
Comments
-
1. Good day at work - none of the 'toxic' people were there. It makes a high difference.
2. Made lasagne for tea and a spare one for the freezer. I enjoyed cooking for the first time in a couple of weeks.
3. Managed some tidying and some more decluttering.
4. My poinsettias are still looking good. Dropping a few leaves but I've kept them so long for me. I know that I don't keep them in the most suitable place but they look good where I put them.
5. DH went to see his Mum. She is out of hospital but confused. I think he is realising that she is developing dementia but still doesn't want to admit it.0 -
1) It's dry here today!!! still cold and windy but we actually have wintery sunshine. Makes such a difference to your mood!!!
2) We are booked in to view three possible properties on Friday, 2 x semi's and one bungalow. I'm not convinced that any of them will be 'the one' but it looks as though the market is waking up again and I have hopes we'll find it in the not unforeseeable future.
3) He Who Knows is finally getting the better of his cold virus. He's been poorly since Christmas and is only today feeling like it's lightening in intensity.
4) I've put the heating on.....we don't normally use it at all as the wood stove warms the whole house BUT today it feels (well felt!) really chilly so I've popped the thermostat up and I'm giving us a warm up, lovely!
5) There are primroses and a solitary snowdrop in bloom on the front lawn that I can see from the study window, and many daffodil noses popped up in the shelter of the front hedge and bluebell leaf clusters are emerging on the lawn between the apple trees, also next doors lilac that I can see from the lounge window is covered with fat little bulgy buds and even though it feels arctic out there I think Spring is thinking about making herself visible!0 -
Oh hope soMrsLW!
Tuesday pleasures,
We had sunshine, it was flipping cold but at least it was sunny.
Time spent with gorgeous horse, she had a duvet day whilst field dried out and I spent ages grooming her until she fell asleep :heart2:
Carrot and cashew burgers for veggie tea.
Labradors are officially the nations favourite dog, Rosie is crowing, Tilly is sulking.
Reading in bed, warm & cosy with the wind howling outside, getting to the end of the last book in long running series and one of the main characters died0 -
Ooh carrot and cashew burgers sound lovely. We have been striving for a couple of veggie meals a week but am trying to use up some stores this week, which have all been meat based. But better that than waste it..
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Builder making great guns in the rebuilding of the study. We might even be in a position to start decorating at the weekend.
2. Finally got back to PhD work after doing pretty much none since dad died. I just couldn't concentrate - but happily applied myself yesterday.
3. Bright sunshine enabled some washing to go on the line
4. Drove our new (to us) car for the first time. It's lovely, but couldn't drive it to the station last night to pick up DH as I couldn't find out how to make the lights work :rotfl:
5. Made 'grandad' pie for tea. It's basically a corned beef hash that my dad used to make so the kids always called it Granddad pie. Makes a bit of a lie of my statement at the top of my post as I didn't really use anything up (I thought I had mashed potato to use when I decided to make it). Was lovely, cheap and filling for a cold night.
Have a good day all - the builder should be finished today :TI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
vjsmum I locked myself in the car the other night , whilst waiting on DD2 then couldn't work out how to unlock myself! Spent weeks looking for the rear wiper doodah ...only to discover it doesn't have a rear wiper!
Very snowy here! Haggis and I had a very snowy walk this morning, beautiful with the wind on your back not so much on the return journey!
Have a good day0 -
5 We sore ted out the bits for the camera club last night, so we can seamlessly carry on as thought we know what we are doing!
4 The floor in the boudoir is being layed the now! That means more house chess later this week. So it will be an early snorker fest on Saturday, followed by some hammering and building. BoP will keep you posted after his Tum Rub!
3 As reported yesterday by BoP about the snow and weather it would affect BoP. It has not, the mill pond was not frozen over this morning. Further norff you go, the worse it gets!
2 Day BoP is going along nicely and will be down the gym later in his beach ready gear!

Pleasures for today (Wednesday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Healthy eating continues! That's 17 days done so far...
3) Hens well. Had to leave the car half way as the lane was so icy with light snow as well.
4) Smaller son much less upset today and back to school.
5) Went to archaeology which was finds processing. Had the toe of a hobnail boot, an apostles spoon and the centre rod of a battery, amongst many other things!
6) Burritos for tea.
7) In bed with 2 hwb now as it is not only damp and cold but also stormy now!0 -
Been absent for a few days, so here goes:
Sunday
1. Fry up for dinner inc. lo mash. Yummy!
2. Wrapped a couple of parcels for DSis
3. Did not have to go out into wind & rain!
Monday 15th
1. All wool supplies gathered together in one place ready for sorting
2. Roasted lamb chops with roasted frozen veg - coated in Lemon & Dill olive oil together with potato & leek mash. DH & I thoroughly enjoyed the veg & means I can empty the freezer of frozen veg. Far tastier than boiling it!
3. Found a tool for unpicking knitting - what a useful piece of kit.
4. Ernie sent me £25!
5. Found two single hand knitted blankets to donate to cs
6. Phone call from DB - he has received his two hand knitted scarves & is delighted as the weather in Germany has been freezing & he is the designated dog walker!
Tuesday 16th
1. Picking up the new bird feeder stand blown over in the high winds & discovering it was undamaged!
2. Remembering to take chicken & pastry out of freezer.
3. DH cracking on with the woodwork undercoating
4. Unpicked one overly large hand knitted blanket - wool for cs
5. No cooking - DH ordered a curry which is enough for two days - first takeaway in 31 days!
Wednesday 17th
1. Received a lovely newsy thank you letter from the daughter of a friend. She received her birthday card & cheque (I am one of those diehards who still uses cheques!,). Very talented young lady - plays several musical instruments to a high standard & has a provisional offer from Oxford to study law.
2. Posted parcels to DSis - so more stuff out of the house.
3. Found a new cs (I “heart” Community) on the Isle of Dogs & had a lovely chat with Natalie - found out that apart from books they will take anything & everything & they do pick ups.
4. Phoned DSis - she is a bit down in the dumps but had cheered up a bit by the time we finished chatting.
5. Unpicked a 2nd overly large hand knitted blanket & now have 51 balls of wool (including some of the excess wool from my stores) to be taken to the new cs.
6. My wool stash is now in one place - in a linen basket with the needles etc.
7. Heated the lo takeaway - delicious - 2nd day of no actual cooking.
Not too bad then - 21 os pleasures over 4 days.

I'm wide awake when I should be fast asleep.
Snowy snow with much more forecast overnight.
A couple of big snowy dog walks. Made a snowman in front of our local castle.
Lunch was soup from freezer stock & the nicest cheese & tomato sandwich on RTC bread.
Tea was a chicken & veg pie ...using the term pie loosely, was a tiny bit of left over puff pastry from freezer, rolled out & cut into 4 wee squares! But was delicious. I love winter food.
Dozed on sofa which is why I'm awake now.
DD2 offered her place at Oz Uni which she is deferring for a year.0 -
1. Noticing its slightly lighter when I left work. It does make it seem that spring is in its way.
2. Last day of work till Tuesday. Talked to someone at work, who works in a different department, and she has been carrying her notice round with her recently. If I had my notice with me I would have handed it in by now!
3. House not feeling too cold when I arrived home.
4. Can't see any trees down in the garden but the wind kept me awake most of the night. There is a tree in next doors garden which does move a lot in any wind.
5. Lunch was leftover lasagna. It tasted better warned up.0
