Evening all
Five recent pleasures:1. Rediscovering tomato sandwiches – a necessity because I had nothing else to hand to put in my lunchtime sarnie. Evocative memories of 1960s beaches and picnics and thermos stewed tea. Nice memories though.
2. Little bunch of pinks on the windowsill picked from the back garden.
3. Reluctantly, had to go out in the car but managed to fit my route home via a Little Free Library which I’d heard about by chance. It doesn’t appear on the official LFL map yet. Swapped a couple of books. Made me so happy to have found this little library.
4. Best friend sent me a gift box of vegan chocolate bars - totally unexpected and very welcome.
5. The cool flagstone floors through half of the ground floor of the house.
Sweet dreams (and cooler temperatures),

A quiet and very hot day!
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep and had a lie in until 9.20.
2) Got various jobs done plus lots of washing done and dried on the line.
3) My brother came for tea. I did 2 salads and hot dogs and he brought muntjac and pheasant in a nice marinade. We had planned a barbeque but it was too hot outside.
4) A strange pleasure and look away now if squeamish. After the cat was mauled last Sunday, he went to the vets for antibiotics and slowly all his scratches and bites have healed over. However, over the last 2-3 days, a lump the size of an egg came up on his back (so big it made his hair stand up in a strange way so you could see it from a distance). Having his tea in the kitchen this evening, he managed to burst it! That was unpleasant to clean up but after 10 minutes he looked very pleased with himself and he is now asleep on the doormat.
5) Watched Gogglebox.9 -
Pleasures for today
coffee with friend sat out in the shade of her garden.
woke up early for dog walk in the shade
slow cooker chilli was delicious served with Nachos
Took pup to vets - she had lots of cuddles from everyone there. Have now to get a urine sample for testing.
plants watered - appear to have a few cucumbers on my plants.10 -
My day off and lovely weather.
1. My weekly dog walk. The walk we go on has a deer park on one side. Walking along I noticed, luckily before the dog, a baby deer caught in the fence. The dog was tied up to the fence and I released the deer's leg from the fence. He went off happily after a few strides of limping and looked unharmed.
2. We didn't go much further on the walk as the dog kept going back to where the deer had been caught as if he would come back.
3. A chat with the couple who park on the road by the walk.
4. Cut the grass - looks much better.
5. Someone had told me about a garden that was open so went with a friend. It was one of the best gardens I have ever seen. It was so tranquil and beautifully kept. Talking to the head gardener on the way out there are 2 full time gardeners and 4 part time ones. Money was no object to the upkeep. We will go again next year.
6. Tea accompanied by wine in the garden with DH.
7. Watching 2 bats flying around. Amazing how fast they dart around.10 -
For yesterday,
Up and at em early as the forecast was for high heat.
Bed changed, out to the pet store, small dog’s food had gone up, on to fill up mini, petrol gone up too, jeez.
Home, bending over to undo buckle on sandal and felt something ping in my side, ouchie ouchie, painkillers taken. All the things I do and something this silly hurts, crazy.
Heat rising, curtains and windows closed on sunny side of cottage, wide open on shady side and luckily a breeze.
A no cooking day due to above, salmon salad for lunch and prawn sarnie for tea, cut up a melon and ate that cold out of fridge, oh and ice cream of course ☺️My rambling rose, planted it several years ago to hide the oil tank10 -

Good afternoon. Back yesterday from sunny Spain and it was as hot here as there. But I don't mind one bit. I love hot!
Mhags - such a big job. All the memories tied up in 'things' . Hugs.
Frith - such a relief GCSEs are behind you. Hope the path ahead becomes clearer soon.
Ampersand - I'm possibly the least techie person I know but isn't it possible to type yr post elsewhere ( Word? Notes?) then copy and paste when you are somewhere with a connection. DfV will know!
DfV - good to see you and sons have support, and are looking after each other. Strength and love incoming.
S Sue - it must be so hard day to day after surgery to adjust, and to know what to expect. More hugs.
Admiral - no wonder Jenny needs replacing. All the beats supporting everyone here must be hard work.
For the last ten days
We had a wonderful time in a very hot Spain - and we were in the North!
Great to see our friends again. DH and K have been friends since infant school - 70 years!
We had very lazy days of coffee in various beach bars and strolls/siestas/ good food/wine/chatting and laughter. Perfect.
Flights were perfect, after a very hasty complete re arrangement when return flights were cancelled two days before we left home. We were very lucky.
After pegging out the washing this morning, I chopped down the Solomon's seal that caterpillars had reduced to lace. I knew they were there and had considered spraying but I like butterflies! The plant always survives both being eaten and being cut down!
More tidying and dead heading to do later. Perhaps some admin. Perhaps not.
Happy Saturday everyone9 -

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep. Smaller son was woken up by a magpie on his windowsill, pecking the window pane.
2) The cat continues to improve, despite having to be shrouded in an old dressing gown whilst in the house to stop the mess.
3) Rained ALL DAY, which will be good for the garden.
4) Went to M and S for a cup of tea after lunch.
5) Watched TV with the cat all evening, including Casualty.9 -
For yesterday,
A much cooler day and we had rain on & off during the afternoon.
Over to the stables and took girlie out for a leg stretch around the fields.
Home and Capt S had cleaned out the water feature aka the bird bath, small dog had obviously helped as quite wet from the hose.
Made a loaf.
Tea was sausages, made mine into a sandwich with the fresh bread, yum.9
