Admiral - An American Poet, Ogden Nash, wrote a poem about celery: "Celery raw is good for the jaw, but celery stewed is more quietly chewed." That is the complete poem - he liked to write short ones.10

Morning! Just watching the sunrise.Busy day yesterday.Went to local castle for breakfast. It was such a stunning drive up the long driveway. Filled with daffodils. Sun shining and blue sky. I’d a ‘roll’ and sausage…took the sausage out and gave DD2 the roll! ( given up for lent ) nice catch up as although we live in same house we can be a bit like passing ships!Home and started the task of power washing the patio. It was grim. Now it’s not so much! ‘I’ll do it’ said DD2…aye for a wee while until she got fed up! So I’d to finish that. Took it in stages . Read and finished the book I was reading in between.Started to paint some garden furniture I’d been given last year. A very heavy companion seat set. It will need a couple of coats but does look better already. I love how paint can absolutely transform something but actually painting bores me! ( and I’ve a whole fence to do) but as I’ve just said to a friend in Australia it’s not something I would pay someone to do ( unless I became a sudden millionaire then I absolutely would😆) as I can paint a garden fence myself! Anyway it will look good when it’s done!Sat on the cushion-less garden sofa and surveyed my work. Alongside a doggy! It was pleasantly warm.Had a leftover lasagna I found in freezer with some parsnips and cabbage and peas and a corn on the cob.10

We have been away on a rearranged holiday to New York. I wasn't letting myself tho I we would go as I was convinced that I would catch Covid before I left.
1. Enjoyed being in New York. Saw loads of sights. Walked loads. Saw all of Central Park for the first time.
2. We choose the day to go I no 1 World trade centre and the views were magnificent. Probably worth the money I spent on hypnotherapy years ago to help with my fear of heights. It was also relatively quiet and we didn't have to queue.
3. Went in to New York library to see the building really and there was an exhibition in there. I felt I should have been more interested in a handwritten copy of the declaration of independence but the original Winnie the Pooh and friends toys came a close second to a hand written page of the Secret Garden.
4. Did some clothes shopping on the first day as it was cold and snowed!
5. Home and 30 hours later one of the suitcases arrived home.
6. Saw my parents for breakfast and came away with a handbag and painkillers!9 -
Ha, love the way he is reaching for more toast Frith!
New York sounds fab Villagelife
For yesterday,
A lie-in and in clean sheets.
Spent most of the morning in the garden, dug over some beds and brushed down back porch, Capt S cut back the elderflower that is invading our hedge.
Had just sat down for well earned cuppa when the sparrow hawk landed on the green bin that had been left by the gate.
Over to the yard to see my girlie, I was reading a study the other day that explained the way a horse’s heart and it’s electromagnetic field can directly influence our own heart rhythm, why they can have such a relaxing influence on humans, I just know that she makes me happy.
Evening dog walk then snorkers & chips for tea.9 -
Snorkels and chips.Big Apple!
Brakefests!
Nan. You can’t improve celery! At least with gooseberries you can’t crumble them!
DD. The fat lady is leading the encore at Glumford Park as the audience disperses.Visible …
Jen buzzes.Keep Safe.
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!12 -
VL we went to the library with the sole intent of seeing WTP and his original pals. A very favourite of DD1’s since she was tiny.Well day one of workety work is done and just one more big day to do. I could quite easily have seen it all far enough this morning but the day went past as it always does.Chat to DD1…me : wait a minute I’m just checking the scones. Her: wait a minute I’m just weighing my veggies. She was supermarket shopping. And familiar sounds of Melbourne like the pedestrian crossing beepbeepbeepbeep. And then like it was switched on the high pitch of evening crickets. Nice to chatter away.Tips ( much better than yesterdays apparently 😩) more than I started the day with.Lunch was macaroni and salad! I made so much blooming macaroni today! Then home and apparently DD2 had been waiting ages for a food delivery , then it’s said it was delivered. So she tried to phone the shop / comment on the page/ contact the deliveroo type people! Muuuuuum can you drive me down. Really? Why can’t you go? Awh please. So down we went and long story cut short, meal was replaced. Extra cakes were added and she was refunded half. Bit farcical as the delivery girl came in with our order as there was nobody in! Sigh!Beautiful sunrise and sunset. Both very gentle. Passed about 6 gritter lorries when we were out…my car has been well gritted! To be cold overnight.12
