5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

1) We've had such a nice week with Grandpickle 1, he was so excited that his mum was coming this morning he was on the ceiling and so full of energy it was hard to keep him entertained but it's been just lovely.
2) DD2 and all 3 Grandpickle boys here at once and lunch and playing...very tired now but happy as happy.
3) Prospect of a quiet afternoon, perhaps a doze and an early night to catch up on myself.
4) OH has just bought us a Fast Bread Maker, we had one years ago but didn't replace it when it broke. DD had one for her birthday and made a loaf when we visited to collect Gp1 which was so nice we decided to buy one for us. It arrived at 2.
5) A really nice temperature today, the last few have been fine but very humid, today we're running at 21 degrees with 41% humidity so it's comfortable and very enjoyable, feels like proper summer at last!10 -
It's pouring steadily over lines full of laundry. Ospers may guess what much of it is - no prizes😖. How did this happen? & was not consulted by the weather gods😬.
Ah well.....
1. The UK standard response - 'At least it's good for the garden.'
2. Took a young carer to Addenbrookes appts. Bus fares are nearly £10, with uncertain timing. Not on. Lidl diversion a happy extra. & collected more rugby club teatowels while waiting.....yes, yes, we know where they are now 🌧🧺💦.
3. ....but that only after everything was thoroughly watered 🙄, many rain butt trips earlier. Well, it should help 2 Scotsdales mysteries, rtc 50p, to which & has given new homes. On verra.
4. NZ friends used &'s bathroom for major scrubs+hairwashes yesterday before osp2. Counting down the days now, van sold, paid for, by young kiwi+oz gf, who love it. & did best real coffee+way too many😋😙 rtc emporium naughties of various croissants d'amandes/pains au chocolat/aux raisins persuasions. Chat flowed under warm dappled shade of sessile oak, leafing fast.
5. Lucky Wednesday catch-up with old Uni friend in the hot sun. We've been trying+failing for some time - weather cackery, diary collisions. Double cuppyteas and lovely ginger cake, with chunky bits - so yummy! Friend's sudden garden invader+blue flowers is alkamet, actually i.d.'d by &, to &'s amazement. It appeared suddenly, now rampant.

Morning! Up early for work. Just going to go over the field with doggy first though whilst it’s quiet. This is my last day ‘off’ even though I’ll be in for a few hours this morning. So I want to make the most of a lovely day if I may!Yesterday was a busy one, we had lots of catering to do and our biggest event to date so there’s been lots of behind the scenes planning and then the actual event so that all went well. And a big sigh of relief when it was over.Managed to get a bit of me time in between it all. Went for a reiki session. Gave myself an hour just to slow down.Actually went to bed for an hour when the work was all done but set the alarm so I didn’t sleep too long but I just felt I needed to catch up after a rubbish nights sleep before.Chat with niece on phone.
and little doggy walks in between all the to-ing and fro-ing.12 -
A few days spent relaxing and finally succeeding in sorting out back pain to some degree.
Been r reading and enjoying the sun10 -
Been struggling, but friends rallied round and I’ve been out to lunch 3days in a row
1 A very fat baby blackbird, clinging onto the gate for dear life and cheeping madly.
His Mum eventually persuaded him to fly again !
2 lunches out and good company
3 lots of washing done and dried
4 lots ( really lots ) of rain yesterday’The gardens need it!’
5Starting to sort DH clothes ,I need to do it but it’s so much harder than I expected.
Thank you all again for looking out for me ,I can say things on here I can’t really tell anyone13 -
Hugs, sue. it's such early days and you have been through such trauma.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Woke up and didn't need to hurry anywhere! Blissful, peaceful breakfast (one of our friends is one of those who has to fill a silence.. he means well but after a week of it....)
2. OH and i went to Pembroke. Visited the castle which was much more interesting than we thought. Then the town - which wasn't!
3. We decided we'd leave a day early and come to ICT - this house is a much nicer space to be in. We ambled our way back via the Teifi valley railway which was a fun diversion.
4. DS was here feeling a little sorry for himself. We made him feel much better by cooking him a lovely piece of steak (with chips) for tea and he applied for some different jobs which we helped by composing his cover letter.
5. We all watched School of Rock - a fun film and Jack Black was not as annoying as he can be...
Have a great day all. I think OH is leaving with DS today and i can commence my marking marathon!I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
beautiful blue sky here this morning. for yesterday
1) beautiful blue sky all the time i was teaching - great morning session (prof doc) - we had given the 6 groups a formative task to apply a named ethical framework to covid dilemmas on Wednesday for a 10 minute presentation - blown away at the quality
2) clearly the students really enjoyed the task and clearly they really learned though the proof will be in the summatives (for their summative they'll need to come up individually with an ethical dilemma in their own profession, drawing on one or all of the frameworks - presentations all recorded so i foresee them revisiting the recordings)
3) gbf messaged during the meeting - he had a zoom finishing at 12, did i want to do lunch. dd2 arrived back from her massage and the 3 of us went (gbf treated us, very nice) though by then sadly the sky had clouded over
4) then gbf and i walked the boys and gbf gave me a lift for my 2nd jab - very nice just graduated medical student. we had a chat about the awfulness of his 4th year - all i could do was apologies, we did all we could in the governmental guidelines, but had to prioritise the 5th years. so sad but as he said pandemic times call for difficult decisions
5) obligatory fisher donaldson fudge doughnut yum while dd2 walked down for a cuppa then she walked me back to my local where i had a very pleasant evening with friends, mostly already double-jabbed.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Sounds like you have some good friends there Sue, still very early days and you are doing brilliantly.
Glad you are feeling better Villagelife.
For yesterday,
Capt S treated me to breakfast out, village pub on new endeavour so good to support. I had eggs benedict which was yum.Out to post office to send off a couple of EBay sales, just got back to car as the rain started.
Changed the bed, finally moved from winter sheets to cooler summer ones, likewise on blankets ( we don’t do duvets ) and the lavender bags I had popped in with them last autumn had made everything smell smashing.
Good, steady rain all afternoon and the sparrow squadron were taking turns to have a bath in the puddles.
Long chat with bf and arrangements made to meet up next week.10
