hmmm seems i may have had a rather social weekend. so from friday lunchtime
1) lunch with gbf. was lovely (i have found lockdown 3 pretty m'eh) - we hadn't booked and first 2 places were full which was also lovely but relieved we found a table at the invercarse. i had haddock rarebit with puff pastry. was lish. then we shared a lemon drizzle cake. yum
2) then we walked the boys then i got a bombshell email from work which i will skate over. i'm sure all will be well and all will be well and all nature of things will be well but did wonder if my job was safe and gbf said i could live with him. so sweet (though i'm sure he just wants the spaniels lol).
3) then drinks with my phoenix crowd. phoenix not opening till monday due to no room to serve alcohol outside, so instead we were at a hostelry with a large outside drinking area. so lovely to catch up with people i haven't seen for months
4) then home for online book club - Hamnet - i was the only one of us not bowled over but we had a good discussion
5) saturday morning i was 'in dublin' with the Graduate Women (over 100 of us). we were invited to be with them last year but of course all had to be postponed. then moved online. they sent recipes for soda bread and irish coffee
6) dd2 took jarvis cocker to the vet's to have his stitch out, dropping me off at the local shops to get whiskey (only whisky in the house) and cream - no soda bread so made do with scottish as no time to buy whiskey and make bread
7) lovely morning and irish coffee was yummy - looking foward to when we can meet in person again
8) then dd2 and i went for run #3 week 7 at camperdown. we did the parkrun run and omg i managed to run all the way up the hilly bit - very slow, but i made it! not sure when parkrun restarts in Scotland, but aiming to be able to run the whole 5k by then
9) then off to the pub to watch the fa cup final. the choice was pub without alcohol or home with alcohol - i chose the pub. met dr no walking the other way - he was watching it at home - i say nothing
10) i was the only person in the pub!!!! so i watched the fa cup, nursing a pellegrino (would have had two but barmaid was busy serving those outside) - well me and 20,000 fans. sooooo exciting (i was supporting the foxes) and did the countdown. barmaid said 2 other friends were in on Monday 7:30 and she'd move them to a table for 4 and add me. hmmmmmm, wonder if they'll mind?! bought FA cup celebratory sausage supper for dd2 and me on the way home
11) woke at 5, re-watched fa cup build-up, 2nd half and celebrations, wrote email to boss (took a long time as needed to check all my dates and figures, fear not tis not my job on the line), dyed my hair a glorious red, went to church
12) coffee shop, book shop, mr t, home then gbf phoned - nothing in the house, did i want to do lunch. we did lunch, then we wandered round the botanics where monday's 'date' friends were so i ok'd with them me gate crashing their table
13) walked dogs to mum's, finished yucky application, took d's for another walk cos mum said i couldn't help with cooking supper, dd2 arrived and we had yummy chicken roast dinner
14) and now i'm home watching in pursuit of love which i love. soon be bed time then tomorrow i am back in the office! just for the one day but goodness i have to pack lunch - i have forgotten how to!

1. A lie in for me.
2. Went to look at furniture but didn't find another liked. DH had seen something online but wasn't right when we saw it.
3. Re potted house plants into my new pots. They look so much better grouped together now. Also have a couple which DS1would like.
4. DH had finished digging up more tree roots.
5. Enjoying reading my book13 -
Sounds like a busy but nice weekend DD.
For yesterday,
Bad night and as Mhags would say ooft up early but a refreshing cuppa and cuddles with small dog really helped.
Repaid the kindness and took her for a long walk after breakfast, lots of the May in blossom and the smell was lovely.
Home, popped a rice pud in the oven and made a Cherry compote with some disappointingly bland fruit, no Kirsch in the cupboard so improvised with Cassis 😉
Despite a gloomy forecast the weather stayed dry so time spent in garden, the Montana Clematis is in bloom along with the Rhododendron. Heard much cheeping coming from the shrubs and hedges so lots of baby birds must be tucked away in their nests.
A nice long bath with a glass of wine and my book.14 -
What a lovely, social, weekend DD.
bath with book and wine sounds heavenly, Lainey
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Despite ominous clouds looming around us all day, we stayed very dry - rain went over the top. Sometimes it stays here and can't get over the mountains so we were lucky this time.
2. Some chats with neighbours - as i'm here alone it was nice to talk to people face to face.
3. Two walks by the sea! and a yoga session.
4. Yummy sea bass for tea. One of the good things about being here alone is that i can eat what i like without thinking about how that fits in with others. It seems that, when alone, I choose not to eat meat - ever.
5. A bit of telly - Antiques Roadshow, Call the Midwife and the last two episodes of The Syndicate.
Have a lovely day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -

Good evening
D Doll - I think you did more out,out things in a weekend than I've done all year! Good for you!
Bala - that's great news
Proper yoga class today. Such a treat. She was very gentle but I still struggled in places. And went dizzy in down dog! But it will improve I know. I then slept for a big part of the afternoon!
Packing for trip to caravan tomorrow. Mix of woolly jumpers/ jeans and t shirts/skirts. Don't know what weather will be but it will be good to be there
Happy teatime everyone13 -
DD Sounds like a really lovely time.Bala Great NewsLainey, Bath, Book and wine sounds great, - also sounds like the name of a potential shop.
1 Just once it would be nice to start on decorating and not have it deteriorate into a bigger job, I washed down the landing, stairs and hallway skirting, which lead to the realisation that the stair uprights will need painting too as it was part of the dulux white that yellowed batch okay, while I am doing it I may as well wash down the hallway, yup that’s all done now but I’m not including it on my decorating batch just now. Tomorrows job is sanding it all down and then re washing. It is a pleasure to be getting on with it all.
2 Hair pack, face pack etc, I was feeling presentable until I started on the decorating.
3 We’ve been called in for our 2nd jab later this week, great to be done, I’m apprehensive as I was very ill on the last one, so trying to get as much done as possible at the start of this week.
4 I took all the downstairs curtains down and throu a wash a pleasure that I’ve done it and re hung them I think?
5 I’ve cooked rather than be tempted by take away, fairly basic thou, chicken with chips and beans.

Hello. We are just in from the beach.Workety work is done ( ish) for the big days. More later in week. But no alarm clock needs set for tomorrow. Though DD2 is up early for her work but not as early as I get up.Quick doggy walk this morning.Had a good day at work. Kept busy but not in a crazy way and decent tips.Home via the chippie!Big walk over the field with dog and DD2.
DD1 arrived at her quarantine destination about 4am our time. She sent me a photo. My colleague said oh she looks tired. I just saw happy. She has to quarantine in a room for two full weeks. I’m glad she’s there safely after three flight cancellations/ changes and chopping and changing she’s finally back home. And she said everyone she met kept saying ‘welcome home’ .We went to the beach. With our big thick fleecy blankets we sat and just watched the sea and the island across the sea. Tide was way out and hardly anyone else about. If they did go by we’d say ( quietly) oi! This is our beach! DD2 had her flask! Was just lovely sitting chatting all wrapped up.Stopped at supermarket on way home and got 2 very RTC lavender plants . I shall encourage them to grow. And a tray of 6 pumpkin plants also RTC. Shall get them planted tomorrow.
it’s been a good day.13 -

1. New computers at work - we needed new computers as new software coming used Windows10 and old computers were too old for it. A colleague helped me set up and an IT man very kindly adjusted settings which helped. The computer is quick - it doesn't take 5 minutes to print a letter.
2.Saw some lovely patients and people seemed cheerful and someone had sat in Costa for a coffee.
3. DS1 called round for a plant and left with much more including eggs and baked beans and a shirt. He was in good spirits.
4. Chat with neighbours about their chickens as looking after them on Thursday for a few days.. Managed to do it between showers/ torrential downpours.
5. Ironing done and all put away which is the pleasure. Also don't need to do it for a few days.
My manager asked whether I would change the days I work as there is a problem in Thursdays when two new members of staff are employed - there won't be enough rooms for everyone. The only solution she could see was me changing my day off from a Friday to a Thursday. She seemed surprised when I said no I didn't want to do it due to I like havinga long weekend and it helps with controlling my back pain which she knows. She never ceases to amaze me.14
