Pleasures the past couple of days.
My walks in the park with dog. She met a friend the other day, Monty the black lab, who is the same age as her (both born December 2015). Talks with his human, we agreed on how lovely it is that people have been so desperate for human interaction that they've started talking to people in the park, and those people become more than just "Monty's Mam" or "Luna's Mam and Dad."
Two bunches of daffodils bought on Friday at the local Co-op, one in a vase on my living room hearth, the other on the kitchen windowsill. Both now bursting into bloom.
A delicious caramelised pear and ginger cheesecake, a culinary experiment that worked.
Sowing flower seeds in pots and dividing a clump of bluebells between two big pots. Anticipating my garden and windowsills full of home grown flowers, herbs and vegetables this year.
Ploughmans using mature cheddar and home made sourdough bread which was made using my own starter. It lives in a jar on the kitchen worktop and is called The Beast.
Watching Bohemian Rhapsody on Amazon Prime last night. Queen are my all time number one favourite band.
One life - your life - live it!17 -
Hello, hoping its ok to join in, i've introduced myself properly on the frugality thread.
Anyway- a few OS pleasures over the past couple of days:
Made a veg chilli in the slow cooker yesterday. Easy cooking for tea tonight.
Walked the dogs from my home and saved on fuel- the sun actually had a little warmth and I even took my scarf off!
Mended one of my horses rug where not so long ago i'd have bought new.
Watched Happy Gilmore with the kids on netflix. forgot about my worries for a while.
Had a declutter of the garden- amazing how much better I feel for doing it.
Stressy work week coming up but a week off then so i'll just power through.16 -
Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday....
Work was OK. I felt a bit rough for some of the day but the teenagers helped me with things in the afternoon. My looked after person really enjoys sitting down with the teens for a cuppa and listening to them chat.
Handing looked after person my ipad and watching him use it. I had a feeling that he could because when you ask him what he wants to watch on the flicks of net he gives the tv a poke as though it's a touch sensitive screen.
Easy tea - pizza for the teens, very small meal for me.
Switching the heating off early yesterday evening. I turned it off after 45 minutes and then left it off as we were warm enough. I believe there's a cold spell due in March but I'll take the warm while it's here and enjoy it. Between the warmth and the pouring rain, the garden rhubarb will be up and away.
Relaxing after work. Online jigsaws, youtube and peace and quiet. I was tired and glad to go to bed.
Take care all of you

Good morning Peeps,
Sue: Thinking of you both.
Nargle: When we saw Bohemian Rhapsody at the cinema, there is a little scene where a series of venues flash up......when the Liverpool concert popped up, I bounced up and down in my seat, nudging DH , and squealing 'I was there!'........🙄
Recents.......difficulty level is high!1. We had 'All day breakfast' for dinner last night. We pretended we were in Weatherspoons at the airport, all waiting to fly off somewhere. DH put a pub music mix on Spotify and we dreamed about where we would fly off to 🤣
2. Spent my free £5 voucher from Morrisons and DD got School employee reduction.
3. Some eBay successes, help with decluttering.
4. Some freebies help with the budget.
5. Ohana.Have a lovely day 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)
We have more in common than that which divides us. (Jo Cox)15 -
Good morning ( just)
Welcome Nurse 2259. It's good here. You'll like it!
Very jealous of people who have 'out without a coat' weather. Wind yesterday was much too cold for that. Not been out yet today but it's very grey so I doubt it's warm.
Been a busy bee this morning and done lots of bits of housework, ironing, plant watering etc.
Barnsley chop for tea with mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and jacket potato. I think we could have put the deposit on a small house in Barnsley for the price of the chops so we won't be having that every week. But we are worth it!
Happy Sunday everyone

1) Finally a window in the rain and a decent long walk outside in the fresh air this morning.
2) So many flowers in bloom including minature daffodils, anemone blanda, aubretia, tiny irises, winter jasmine as well as crocuses, snowdrops and big daffs, beautiful and really cheery to see.
3) Sitting here with a coffee and the window open and all I can hear is birdsong.
4) Lovely chats with DD2 yesterday as she drove to the surgery for a vaccination clinic and as she drove home afterwards, appreciation of Blue Tooth and hands free communication. They did 600 vaccinations in the afternoon, fabulous!
5) Being warm without the heating or the stove on, so much nicer than having to huddle under a wrap when it was so cold.
Hope all is still pain free for Mr.SS, trying times being dealt with quietly and courageously all round, peace and blessings M'dears xxx.12 -
Hello. It’s still light ! Hurrah!Sunday is work day so out I went and worked. It was okay.Nice walk at 7.15am and it was just light and mild.Looks like it’s been a nice day. From what I saw through the window. No tips! Shock horror!Lovely welcome home from my dog and daughter. She told me all about her shift at work. He was just happy with a belly rub! It’s light , that is such a pleasure to be home in daylight. Came home with a wasp
in the car! No idea how it got in and it was hanging on for dear life as I put the window down for drive home. Popped it out when I reached the driveway.Had to go out in garage at 6am to sort the boiler out, the pressure had dropped so I’d no hot water, that was a job for the boy of it ever happened but I had a photo on my phone of what to do so looked back to the day he’d left and used that. Tadah! Hot water!15 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens ok.
3) Took bigger son to the forest so he could practise slack lining.
4) Had a cup of tea outside our local cafe, which has just reopened for take aways.
5) Bigger son went to his old school playing field where he could practise slack lining with someone else from school (10 metres away on a different line).
6) I walked into town and back from there (2 miles).
7) Bigger son is now back at work until next Friday so I’ve hoovered and steamed the floors, washed up, tidied up and lit the fire!
8) Pork chops and roast veg for tea for smaller son and me.
9) Might watch Pottery Throwdown later.16 -
I’m feeling a bit wound up, we drop 2 ferret girls in to be neutered tomorrow, and the last time we did that a few years ago now we completely un expectedly lost her coming around from the op. So I will spend the day trying to distract ourselves.
1-100 I took the higher dose of pain killer combo last night and relived its worked, I don’t tend to take the full amount but taking it when the pain is at it’s worst works thankfully.
2 The change in the weather, and I have been out in the garden every day planting and weeding and getting some air.
3 An easy from oven pizza tonight and it was delicious, always doctored with extra sweetcorn and mozz but very delicious.
4 Inside in the warm, candles on and I can hear ferrets gently snoring with content I hope.
