Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in.
2) More snow! Some this morning then lots this evening meaning the road is pretty much closed (not by depth of snow, more by slipperiness). The snow from earlier in the week had not melted either.
3) Hens OK. Walked there and back to avoid the long track in the snow.
4) A lovely parcel arrived including a book that bigger son has got stuck in to.
5) Started the BSD (sort of, as I need to go shopping and bulk cook the meals). Weighed myself today and am 14 stones 4, which is ridiculous. I did think I looked a strange shape in the photo my brother took of me on Christmas Eve. I have never been larger than just over 13 stones before. Anything under 11 is fine.
6) Watched smaller son's football team play (live stream) and they drew against Hereford.
7) Watched Casualty.
8) Did the NYE pub quiz (we have fallen behind).
9) Smaller son's college is due to go back on Tuesday (I found out today) as they all have EHCPs so are exempt from the general rules. Not sure whether this is a good thing or not.15 -
Hmmm I’ve been throu the greenhouse and I have a lot of bulbs that are growing of their own accord! Can they wait a while or do I try and plant them out?
1 I went through a kitchen drawer, the dried foods rice, pasta etc in there, just tidying it made space.
2 Fish and rice for dinner, feels a bit lighter.
3 Still enjoying the sparkly Christmas decs, thou planning to take them down.
4 Local independent sent us a voucher, much appreciated and will get us spending on Monday.
5 Also banked as not much to report on.

1. Son the Elder of Frith's spoon on nightshift now. Probably happier than in the HG Green Tomato Chutney. &, prolific preserver, can't quite account for sudden lack of personal marmalade.....at least 100 jars a year done for Church.
Mother Julian of Norwich moment - 'All will be well and all will be well and all manner of thinge shall be well.' Stage 1.
2. It so happened that necessary battery renewal meant digging about in kitchen drawer that breeds them.....ahem, 27AAs? Yes.
Spurred a notion, test them. & has a little black thing for the purpose, never before used, disinterred when spotted in said drawer. Little baglet of 9 for emporium recycling. Most satisfying.
3. Had a thought (careful &, habit-forming), found the oblong hanging wire thing. In went drip tray for all 5 ailing streptocarpus, bought for D at Scotsdales, rtc 50p each [were £9.99 - yes EACH 😱 ]during their summer Kettles Yard visit. D., born Madagascar, was ecstatic seeing them. Wealthy upbringing, palatial gardens, loved these flowers from childhood, had his own bed of them. & would nurse these, bring to London/Spitalfields, hand over, all spry😇. We all know that hasn't happened since. Streptocarpus do not like declining temps and light, now limp and sad outside under coralux corner. Fingers x'd they'll recover again, hanging inside from &'s kitchen fan light window....yup, the one she's had to clamber up to remove and climb through, when accidentally keyless🥴😫(posts passim)...
As soon as London is possible again, down they'll go.
4. Remembered 6am bin men today(usually Thursday) - hooray! 3 bags full, unheard of for &.
5. 'Goodness! Hello A....' A few years back, prison visiting etc. Good catch-up. Some good changes, 2 in particular.

DD - loved Mr P's Auld Lang Syne. Thankyou👏👍❤
Heard another - a most wonderful rendering live on R4's Thursday Front Row by Tasmin Little, announcing her retirement 'while I'm still young enough to do other things.

Have told you about my lovely neighbour...........the one that reminds me of a flapper girl without the sass. She will be ninety this month. Anyway, she dropped in 2 turkey legs for Tiggy and I wondered at the time why she hadn't kept them for herself. To cut a long story short I gave her some lamb yesterday. When I offered it to her I asked if she wanted one piece that she could eat at will or did she want it sliced. Sliced was the answer. She broke her arm this last year. She also left me a message saying all left overs would be gratefully accepted (I have cooked some chicken thighs for her, for today). The thing is, am getting a little worried for her. She is fiercely private and independent so don't feel I can ask questions. The message about leftovers is most unusual. Will ponder on this one. The pleasure is that I can. And a solution will be found.
Next !
Every time I speak to my Mum she tells me how she can't wait to see me. The heart sings and the feeling is mutual. I really miss my parents. Even at my age.
Next No 2.........
Have gone into this year feeling more purposeful than ever. Over a myriad of things. These boards/threads are teaching me so much. One example IS the struggle I have had with hoarding. Joining a relevant thread and calling the work required a 'hobby' has turned it all on it's head. Now I tackle it with pleasure. So far...........tee-hee
Next No 3............
Most of you won't believe this but when I say I am IT phobic/totally clueless, I mean it. I didn't know I could get BBC iplayer on my laptop. Bravely gave it a try yesterday and now I have it..........and it works ! Sound an' all...............
And finally, 'wombled' a till receipt yesterday. 26 pence no less ! Am tickled pink...............
Have the day you all need or want

For yesterday,
Another lie-in, could get used to this but perhaps only in winter when mornings are so dark. L/O snorkers heated up in toasted sandwiches for breakfast, I believe it to be my favourite meal of the day.
Sunshine, we had sunshine, most welcome after days of unrelenting cold and grey.
As always, time with my equine girlie, we managed to get in the school mid afternoon and did some work which made us both puff, good!
Driving home and listening to footie commentary, D & J loud and clear coming from HQ in Uni City not darkest NE Lincs, another 3 points for us, sorry BOP. Lainey has only been to
Blundell Park once in late 80’s / early 90’s when John Beck was dragging us up the leagues and most vivid memory was that the game had to be temp suspended when sea fog rolled in!
Home, cold and hungry so cup of tea most welcome, along with beloved’s suggestion we have a chinese for tea, king prawns in peanut satay sauce, yum. Small dog is allowed three prawn crackers and sits so patiently waiting for her share.

Another sunny morning so another walk around local lake with OH. We can walk to this one from home.
Finding walking difficult at the moment, asthma, leg injury and bad back so I have ordered 2 trekking poles which I hope will help 😊
Also losing weight will help so healthy eating starts again Monday and also going to try dry January!
in the meantime, we tried a newish little Greek takeaway which has opened very near us and had the most delicious chicken gyros and fresh chips sprinkled with oregano 😋
Happy memories of holidays in Greece and hopefully more to come.
Sorted OHs car insurance and breakdown cover, a job done.
Happy sunny ☀️ Sunday

Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday....
The HT is feeling better. Not totally fixed but better.
Some crochet which I haven't done for a while. I've been mostly knitting hats instead.
Washing done dried and sorted - today will be the day for tackling the ironing mountain.
Online jigsaw puzzles. They're very relaxing when done whilst listening to music on youtube.
Reading. I picked up a book that I was quarter of the way through but haven't looked at for a while. It was on my bed but I've been going to bed tired and not reading. I'm now three quarters of the way through but made myself stop and turn the light off at 1am.
Take care all of you14 -
A quiet day.
1/ cleaned out chickens - not a pleasure as such but got me into the garden.
2. Chat with my neighbour whose dog is recovering from major surgery.
3. Chat with my parents on the phone. DS1 is taking my mum to hospital in London on Tuesday for tests. It is too far for my Dad to drive in the dark and my Mum can't drive at the moment as they are investigating epilepsy.
4. Chat with a friend.
5. Went to local garden centre for some seeds.13
