Good afternoon
Very chilly here, but dry. Had a lovely time at the winter illuminations last night. Such a treat to be doing something different. All outside and very easy to distance, even though I think half of Yorkshire was there. ( Timed tickets though, so perhaps not)
Please can I take this end-of-the-year opportunity to say thank you to you all. I had lurked for a while but this year decided to be brave and actually post as well. It has been wonderful to have a group of supportive on-line friends at a time when seeing real friends is not allowed. I love the way everyone rallies round when one of the community needs support and a hug. I wish all of you a peaceful and healthful new year.
Thank you❤❤❤
Here's to a very happy new year xx14 -
Evening all - last post of 2020
Pleasures for the last few days
1. Continuing to rack up the 'assessments marked' tally
2. not putting on any weight
3. A couple of nice walks and a good yoga session
4. Watching the snow - although it can do one now
5. A zoom with friends
6. DD's covid test coming back negative - to the surprise of all
7. Still watching Outlander
8. Some nice food without having to go to the supermarket
9. My log burner and christmas tree lights - the tree will come down on Saturday, I think
10. Watching old episodes of Dr Who with DS
Hope everyone has an enjoyable NYE - for me, I'm going to pretend it isn't happening and go to bed early! Thanks for your company this year - i really value this threadI wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
Have a wonderful evening all.
If I can echo what VJ said............thank you for all the support, for the welcome, for putting up with my non-stop fascination with my garden animals etc.
I too value this thread.

Echoing here also, thank you for the support, and for listening to me ramble about ferrets.
Bop, ah Whitley, yes well the ferrets know who they like and well who they don’t like.
1 Cheesy pasta and well you guessed it using up bacon and sausages and veg. Later is black forest gateau and a tipple to see in a New Year.
2 The book is a lovely surprise, engrossing and lovely to be lost in with some shortbread biccies, while DH is legoing.
3 Fighting the OS urge as I know if I could go out tonight, I could stock the freezer for a month on rtc’s but we can’t take the risk.
4 We did a lot of cleaning up from animals, I have a weird mindset to see in the new year at least clean.
5 Bring out the Baileys.

For today,
Yes & very cold and foggy too for most of the day, first pleasure was enjoying buttered toast and coffee in my PJs.
So many of the garden birds around the feeders looking for their breakfast so topped them up quick and threw loads of sunflower seeds on the ground as well, soon the family of partridges turned up to join in the feast.
A good catch up with my fellow livery owner, my horse however took exception to losing her human slave’s attention and got the bobble of my hat in her mouth, whipped it off and swung it from side to side, had us in stitches ☺️ She is such a character.
Bit of a cheat for tea and we had one of those fakeaway bags of Indian food, very tasty it was too!
The last two episodes of the Queens Gambit, one of the best things we have watched this year.
Thank you all for your company this year, it’s been a strange one for sure but this thread and the pleasures shared are a comforting consistent.13 -
Hope every has had a reasonable New Years Eve. Thinking particularly of SuffolkSue and DfV this evening.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) A lie in.
2) Decorations away and the whole of the downstairs cleaned including windows and blackleading the stove!
3) Hens OK.
4) Muntjac steaks for tea, which are always tasty, plus homemade chips.
5) Watched the Last Leg and am now watching the Great British Sewing Bee. Waiting for bigger son to come home from the forest, where he is sitting in his hammock with a friend.

Happy New Year...I slept through it’s arrival!Hogmanay 2020
A dog in at the vets overnight, was very poorly and had to be kept in, think he’s been poisoned eating something when we were out walking though fields. He’s okay now. A bit subdued but thankfully okay. Also thankfully I had enough money to pay for his very expensive sleepover.
Who knew I’d be using my new office space at 3am... writing down temperature of 42o, rapid heartbeat, IV fluids...but I was !Work at 4am. Much to be done and an extra 5 hours worked. We made some beautiful food! Working companionably with boss just chatting away! Then time to pick up a doggy boy. In the blooming snow. Proper snowflakes.Home. It was good to be there. And we didn’t venture back out. Well I didn’t!Had a bit of a snooze late morning. Went back to bed. More snow.Played UNO and dominoes and Speak Out with DD1. Speak Out was hilarious. I’m not really a natural games player, they kind of give me the heeby jeebies! ( apart from being the reigning Trivial Pursuit champion from February 2017) but it’s been nice playing with the girls.
We ordered in some food and had a lovely meal with my girls . DD2 literally just arrived home from work as it arrived, much chatter, much laughter.
Then dishes were done and it was time for me to doze off on sofa so I just took myself up to bed, woke at 00.30am...thought Happy New Year and back to sleep.I am grateful for another year of continued sharing of our lives here. Of our ups and our downs. Of our bargains. Of our meals. Of our gardens and allotments. Of our families. Of our laugh out loud moments and of our tears. May we all continue to post as we forge into 2021. And may no one in this thread ever feel they have to leave. I miss Lyn and her wisdom and her sharing.( Mrs LW) we all have a part to play in making this the nice place it is to be .I’m off to the kitchen to start the makings of a steak pie ( traditional Scottish NYD food) I sorely missed it last year when I went vegetarian for a month! Will be in the slow cooker for a long stew!Have a good day. X16
