glad to hear you have heat again balabaloo
Busy week at work, glad it's Friday. Going to give 5 from my evening
1) friend dropped off a pair of gloves and hat - she'd brought another ceilidh band member cos she's in her bubble - haven't seen her since February - so lovely, though outside suitable distanced. Thank goodness it was dry!
2) then book club, online. We discussed the mercy boys then moved onto other books we've been reading and radio and television. We've all come away with quite a few suggestions including next month's official book "A Honeybee Heart Has Five Openings: A Year of Keeping Bees"
3) pub friend who i haven't seen since before lockdown mentioned on fb that Hearts Dundee showing on BBC so multi-taskedSadly Dundee lost 6-2
4) walked the dogs - my usual route since lockdown - lots of leaves to scuff through
5) and a large spider who was weaving a fabulous web between a hedge and a road sign 2 meters away.

DD...............I LOVE my new name. Thank you
Days are very fluid aren't they. After I posted yesterday my lovely neighbour (90 in January) phoned me to ask if I would like to go over to cut some lillies for myself. I did and they are such a welcome explosion of pink in the kitchen. Further adding to the lightness I was feeling at that point.
About an hour later was walking Tiggy and got a shock. We walked past a house where lying neatly a few feet from the front door on the drive was a dead young adult fox. Pelt in great condition, no signs of injury. My first feeling was that it had been poisoned, not everyone loves wildlife. But it was so strange, it looked as if it had been placed there. I was quite unsettled for some time. And upset.
About half an hour ago Tiggy woke me. Reluctantly I got up and as I went to the kitchen noticed that the garden light was on so I had a feeling my fox was back for food. I just stood there and watched and was delighted to see 3 foxes. I thought she had had more than one cub. Circle of life...........
I am really enjoying the heat !
Love from Balabaloo................courtesy of DD...........

1. Planted a few of the bulbs I seem to have acquired. It was dry and the chickens helped. Every year I think I have enough bulbs and won't buy any more but it doesn't seen to happen like that.
2. Chat and laugh with my neighbour.
3. Paid DH coins into the bank. A coin deposit machine. My account looks much healthier now.
4. Met a friend for coffee first time we had met this year. Lovely seeing her and catching up on all her news.
5. Need stew and dumplings for tea before we all sat and watched the rugby. Fans allowed n the French stadium only 1000 but more than here.12 -

Recent pleasures:
Walk with friend and catch up after holiday
Spotted a little egret in the tree
Nice cheque from son (part repayment of a very long standing loan) banked
Walk with sister and spotted 2 herons and a cormorant in flight
Lunch after in the local park, favourite local sausage in a roll followed by Cornish blueberry and clotted cream ice cream🍦!
Felt a bit sad a couple of mornings (think it’s the general situation) but the Autumn walks definitely help 😊13 -

For yesterday,
Beloved had day off work so nice to have a leisurely breakfast together.
Over to the yard to see my girl, she was still sensitive around area on mane so just gave her some love plus an apple & carrot.
Treat of a lunch out, pub was empty apart from us but chatting with landlady it seems like they do a decent business in the evening. Food was delicious and such a treat not to think about what to cook.
Lazy afternoon and then an early evening walk, think we all needed the fresh air and exercise.
I had baked a loaf so supper was fresh bread and cheese.12 -
lol balaboo aka balabaloo am realising DundeeDoll was a good name but the shortening to DD is very confusing with Dear Daughter - as this was the first online forum I joined (and I think the only one I've stuck with) I was unaware of such things when I joined. Had a wonderful book club last night where, having discussed The Mercy Boys, a rather depressing book from a local author, we broadened out to what else we've read in the month between zooms, then watched, listened to, cooked... Was a very lively chat. Two of us had heard Ann Forgan talking about her year (2012) of reading a book from every WHO-listed country (195) plus Taiwan. I’ve just watched a TED talk on her experience https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/09/your-guide-to-reading-the-world/#:~:text=In%202012%2C%20author%20Ann%20Morgan,maps%20charting%20everything%20she%20read. Here’s her blog https://ayearofreadingtheworld.com/ Before the next book club (20th Nov) I will be starting Nigel Slater Christmas Chronicles (starts 1st November), finishing Why I've stopped talking to white people about race, and reading next month's book club choice A honeybee heart has five openings. Recommended watching included David Attenborough and Love Life. But this weekend I will be reading a chapter from a PhD student (currently on page 9 / 49) and a masters dissertation as there are just not enough hours in the working weekMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Balabaloo it is then ( autocorrect prefers hullabaloo!). So glad to hear good news about uncle and heating.
Paulie H - agree about feeling sad. It's getting to be a default position, which is totally unlike me. A brisk walk does help. And giving myself a good talking to!
Yesterday
A brisk walk ( see above) to chemist to collect my prescription. They are so much more organised now than they have ever been. Think the lockdown made them set better systems in place.
Man came to fit smart meter. It's not giving a reading for gas, but the electric usage is fascinating. Will give it a couple of days and then get in touch with them about the gas.
DS popped round after tea. We opened the patio doors and he sat in the garden, and us in the house. Perhaps a good job I couldn't see how much gas that was using, with all the heat going into the garden!
Today
Went for first ever flu jab. I'm still not really convinced, but couldn't bear the thought of everyone saying ' I told you so' if I was ill this year. The surgery was very well organised and efficient. Was in and out quick sticks, and no ill effects yet.
And now it's sunny so I'm going to peg the washing out.
Happy 🌞Saturday everyone14
