Happycas - i really liked David Copperfield. But then, i have never got on with Dickens in book form. i love that it is 'colour blind'.
Pleasures for today
1. Shopping in the city with DD. She is due back into work when furlough ends next week. She's very anxious so we did a trial run. Everyone in her work was lovely towards her and a supervisor gave her a 'random act of kindness'. Probably a bath bomb.
2. We went to the Boston tea party for lunch - it was nom.
3. Stocked up the cupboards and fridge in Alideee. Spent £157 which takes some doing there! Mind, would have been much more in other supermarkets.
4. bought myself some flowers too.
5. About to have a well-deserved gin!
Have a great evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
Bala, the animals have a very pure way of showing they love us.
1 I ordered an online prescription for our humbug, I’m almost ashamed to say I hadn’t done this before, but after paying for the initial prescription, ordered the meds from a place we’ve used for other things before, the prescription was £17 and the meds inc. postage were £5.50, we have just saved ourselves 22.50 a month as we were paying £45,
We can put that to the other unexpected vet bills. Also booked in our “stinker” stray for a neuter, see how the costs kind of balance out….
2 Phoned DB, we put the world to rights for an hour or so, lovely to catch up we haven’t actually “talked” in a long while, we would really like to meet but everyone is in effect in the shielding category.
3 Booked in for another doc apt, unfortunately the asthma has decided to make itself known.
4 Various leftover sauces and things make up hunters chicken and rice tonight, with a snack later of a slice of pizza with a whole host of toppings that need using up also.
5 The last 3 plants I think can be saved, snaffled into the greenhouse, hopefully safely now.

Good news about your uncle, Bala.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Cracked on with housework this morning and got the downstairs tidied and dusted and cleaned the windows. Also cleaned the stairs.
3) Hens OK.
4) Had a little driving trip to give an empty apple juice bottle back to lady in the next village (home made juice with their label on), then give my mum her washing basket back!
5) An enormous tea! Gammon with roast potatoes, courgette, parsnip and carrots plus stuffing, bread sauce, gravy, Yorkshire puddings and cabbage. Treacle sponge and cream for pudding.
5) Did the online pub quiz.
7) Had to race round to bigger son's friend's house as he had printed out the labels we need for tomorrow. Someone from the US has bought his bike and the packaging up and sorting out has taken us 2 days! Son's friend did not comment that bigger son had turned up in his dressing gown.13 -
Frith - DS2 once drive a friend home in his pj's and then went in and stayed most of the day to his friends mum amusement.
Bala keep warm but great news about your Uncle.
1. No more work for 10 days. Also missing the 6 weekly meeting which makes the week off even better!
2. Had a long chat with a neighbour.
3. DS2 cooked a very tasty tea.
4. Evening chatting with DH and DS2 and his girlfriend.
5. DS1 came rushing in from work after a 2 1/2 hour drive from work and rushed upstairs just in time for his online poker night.12 -
Enjoy your break VL I liked your comment the other day about being able to ignore the people you wanted to do! Excellent advice!Well hurrah it’s Friday morning, Thursday was a tad busy and I was just too tired last night to post.
was in at work for ‘an hour’ that would be two and half at the start of the day which ate up the morning, was in to do catering and then the hordes came in and because only coffee shops are allowed to be open in Scotland we’ve been crazy busy with people queuing up to get in!Home. Come on dog lets go a walk. Fateful words! I ended up mid calf deep in water stuck as I’d slid down the banking of the burn ( small stream) I need to cross to get in and out of field. Anyway ( long blog post about it) the shorter version is a kind couple saw it, reversed their van and helped ! She held on to dog and he with a strong grip helped pull me up! ( no mean feat) was covered and mud and feet were soaked! And hurrah! A package from DD1 which included a pair of Halloween socks which couldn’t have came at a better time! Wet socks off and new socks on!DD2 had a horrible shift with rude customers. Please don’t take your bad mood out on any retail staff...you could be ruining my day! I have to listen to it blow by blow! We went a lovely long walk down our woods.May have had a snoozette! Then went back into work after hours to restock and do visual merchandising ( my very favourite thing to do )Got some lovely flowers very RTC. Both DD2 and I had remarked on Tuesday at how pretty the roses were but at £15 a bunch...no ta! They’ve still to be sorted this morning.
Home and fire was lit so sat for a bit then decided enough was enough of today and headed to bed! A tad aching!Back in to work for a couple of hours this morning . I’ve done quite a few extra hours this week which should go a good way towards paying for my new tyres! And at least it doesn’t have to come out of savings. And whilst I’ve enjoyed my shifts I’ve missed being at home.Right! Off to start the day. Have a lovely day 😊12 -
Great news about your Uncle coming home Bala.
Enjoy your time off VL.
For yesterday,
We were entertained at breakfast by watching Mr Crow sitting on the hedge and spying on Squirrel Nutkin burying walnuts in our lawn.
Was meant to be riding girlie but something nasty & bitey had got into her mane so instead there was a clean up job and copious amounts of Sudocrem applied.
Another long afternoon chat with DB.
Trip to emporium, got everything on list and blissfully quiet.
Glass of wine with evening meal, just because.14 -
woohoooooooooooo !
We now have hot water and heating. The boiler will leak if we use the hot water but as long as we keep heating on (or turn it on) a certain pin will drop back into place stopping the leak when we have finished using the hot water. Certain parts need replacing which will hopefully happen in a week or two. The cold has stopped me getting out from under the duvet for pudding so there most certainly was a silver lining.............tee-hee
Thank you for all lovely sentiments. My week did get better yesterday when I heard that my Uncle was being released from hospital. I wish everyone good health.
Off to do the piles of washing that have grown due to having nowhere to dry them.
Feeling bright.

Hello. Another busy day.
out to work for a couple of hours. Busy busy!Home very quick doggy walk and then down to vets ( who was running late and I was early as I always am so had to keep telling the dog we just have to wait...and then a big horse box pulled in and out came a big horse so he didn’t like that! ) but annual vaccinations done and thankfully I pay a monthly plan for that so no big expense. And he got a treat so he was quite happy.
Then home and hoovered and cleaned bathrooms and changed bedding and did flowers and watered plants and all the myriad of things I normally do when I’m off work!Son lit fire this afternoon so we are very toasty.Talking of toast I had that with beans on it. I’ve been trying to avoid bread but it was rather yummy.
then made a very tasty chicken & vegetable pie and son made wedges to go with it and corn on the cob too.
I made scones too whilst oven was on but I’m too stuffed to even think about them.13 -
