hugs Bala and SuffolkSue
oh bop sorry about the mariners' break.
1) up early, did my workout (pilates 3), felt good
2) 2nd portion of carrot, apricot and ginger soup. even better than yesterday, i assume cos of the ginger doing its stuff, and still another portions to go
3) walked dd2 to her bar class then the boys and i went to the park. the september sun through the trees - beautiful
4) after supper went to the pub. had ummed and ahhed but with news soon we might not be able socialise in pubs i fear their closure might be imminent. sat on my own at table 8 (my fave) to watch the Arsenal match (sorry Uncle Bill, they lost). mrpiano's sister walked in so caught up with her. and of course posted a picture to mrpiano on fb - he responded 'you're in my local with my sister and i'm 4200 miles away!'
5) very clear night. Mars is spectacular at the moment. also Jupiter and Saturn.MrsSD declutter medals 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐13 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) A lie in.
2) Did council tax phone call. Because my income support mysteriously stopped last year (I thought it had ended to force everyone on to Universal Credit), it seems I now owe £1000 of council tax back for last year... Obviously I do not have £1000, or even £100. Fortunately they can see I have put in a claim for Universal Credit and I have 4 weeks to prove that I should have had Income Support....
3) Hens very well and I couldn't put them back in their run, they were too excited by their digging in the main allotment! I stayed on the allotment for an hour or so, weeded and cleaned the greenhouse out, but they still wouldn't go in so I had to leave them out and go back down later. (The whole allotment is fenced, but only just over 1 metre high and a fox could probably get through the gate if it tried. The run is fenced to about 2 metres high).
4) It is bigger son's birthday tomorrow, so I did my customary clean and tidy today (so I won't have much to do tomorrow). Did a load of washing, annoying that the tumble dryer has broken as it got about 90% dry out on the line... We don't have central heating so no radiators to spread it out on to finish drying it. Tidied up and smaller son and I hoovered then steamed the floors and stairs.
5) Smaller son and I popped to Sainsburys. Bigger son was mountain biking all day and has a job interview (not for ages) to do another outdoor instructor job.
6) Did an online pub quiz.
7) Just been speaking to my school friend on the phone.11 -
1. Work happened. Managed to get admin type bits done that I have been putting off.
2. Washing dried on the line.
3. Next door virtually finished the fence and I am happy with it.
4. Tasty tea of pork casserole.
5. DS1 will be moving ,probably next week. Not heard for weeks and then a rush.
He is happy but now has to organize loads. Solicitor fees have cost him more than he thought and they quoted for.14 -
For yesterday,
My beloved had the day off so relaxed start to the day.
Got some exercise into princess pony, lunged over trot poles and by the time we’d finished the sun had come out so she went back into field minus rug. A treat of a parsnip and my girlie’s joy was complete.
Quick lunch of cheese & oat cakes before we headed out to antiquey type emporium, I had a wish list in my head but unfortunately nothing resonated, good to look round though.
Only downside was the on-site cafe wasn’t open and I was gasping for a cuppa so we stopped at farm shop on way home, my slice of date flapjack was delicious ☺️The mellow tones of an autumn sunset on evening walk, relishing every one now.14 -
Morning all - today is my first day back at 'work' (doesn't really feel like work as i am still sat at my desk where i seem to have spent my life). Preparing on line content in lieu of face to face lectures - a strange new world.
Thinking of you Bala and SS.
Frith - happy birthday to bigger son.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Finished my chest of drawers - needed waxing and i used white wax for the first time. Quite pleased with it.
(Ooh that looks quite big in the preview)..
2. Went for a walk and picked yet more blackberries - still sweet and juicy
3. Fish pie from the freezer for tea - we're trying to eat the freezer for a bit
4. had a looong bath watching a drama that i finished later in the evening
5. OH came home - he was happy as the Villa won (a commentator said "Fulham are making Aston Villa look like Bayern Munich" )
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens15 -
A quick update. I am only repeating what I have been told. Please do not read if you are sensitive.
The night it happened he lost 4 units of blood and his organs were shutting down. Brilliant paramedic. Really brilliant. My brother is not small and she treated him like a ragdoll. She did something to his head/neck and the blood just came gushing out. She told my SIL that the hospital would call within 2 hours but they called within 15 minutes. Unfortunately it was a junior doctor and she told my SIL to come immediately because my brother was dying. I am sure it seemed that way to her. The on-call consultant calmly put the right things in place.
We've gone from multiple ulcers to multiple lessions. He was back in theatre this morning and they found a massive ulcer. I am assuming because there was so much blood in his stomach that things like huge ulcers were not spotted. They have cauterised it because they couldn't tie it off (?). I have no clue. He is still in an acute ward. Blood pressure still very very low. Kidneys still hurt/damaged. Praying it's not permanent.
The good news is that he is not so yellow and some of the puffiness has reduced. He has been very anxious because he heard what the doctor said. Playing on his mind and he has little defence because he feels so wretched. He knows he is hugely loved. Hopefully this will help in some way.
Your kind words and support have meant a great deal. Thank you.
I continue to feed the animals.

Evening all.
Bala, many more hugs from me too. It sounds grim.
Five pleasures for Tuesday:
1.Dealing with various really nice people over the phone today in trying to get some valuations done.2. My little old Timex's strap had broken and the new cork one that I’d ordered arrived today – it looks and feels really lovely and makes the watch look great (and is eco-friendly!).3. DS1 came by to run an errand for me - very helpful.4. I’ve only just discovered, a few years late that the ITV series 'Home Fires' was continued in book form after Series 2’s mega-cliffhanger ending. Our local library had it available in audiobook so I’ve just borrowed it.5. Humous on toast for supper. Couldn’t be bothered to cook.
Sweet dreams

Oh Bala, that sounds dreadful. I do hope there is some improvement tomorrow.
VJ's mum The chest of drawers looks very professional. Well done you!
For today
Really, pleasures 1-5 have been the absolutely fantastic weather. Because I packed on cold wet Sunday, I didn't pack anything summery but it's been extremely warm. I wandered around today in jeans and a shirt. Having been a good Girl Guide, I took a jacket out this morning but it wasn't needed. I didn't bother with it this afternoon. Throwing caution to the winds!
Seeing the sunlight on the sea, and the beautiful clear autumn light.
The sun setting over the sea.
It's been a good day
Happy evening everyone13 -
Oh Bala, what an awful ordeal for your brother and you all, sending healing vibes x12
