Good afternoon
Tho not so good really as the very heavy weather is making me feel whammy! It's the sort of muggy weather before a storm, but has been hanging around for a couple of hours now and still only about 4 drops of rain.
Went to our local garden centre this morning for coffee and cake. It's a very nearly normal atmosphere there! I bought an ornamental pepper plant with purple peppers! Don't know if it's edible but it's very pretty.
Think I'll have to lie down in a darkened room until this storm breaks or goes away. The children I used to teach would say " It's a blag on t ' head, miss! " (though they would be talking about a tricky maths problem!)
Happy muggy afternoon everyone13 -
Rainy morning. Dry afternoon. Pleasant evening.
Lovely doggy walk if a little ( lot) soggy. Had to leap over the burn as it was like a river.Drove to the mothers. Very rainyPopped into supermarket. Still very rainy.
Home. And as forecast it dried up so washings out on line.Plasterer chaps came to finish off a bit around original doorway and new porch, can be painted by weekend.
Friend popped in to pick some things up. Quick chat.Very kindly rubbed DD2 feet.
chat with DD1. Dilemma resolved . And choices made. And she’s happy with them ( and I am too)15 -
Another day at my sister's. This time with our cousin. Wonderful as we haven't seen her for about 8 months.
Took a drive, stopped and walked over a bridge. The river was calm and the swans were beautiful.
My sister cooked a really lovely meal, chicken, cinnamon and lemon involved.
The blackberries I picked this morning were enjoyed.
Cuddling with Tiggy.

Hello all, I've been reading along but haven't felt much like posting. A very good friend of mine has a very poorly family member who also used to be a good friend of mine (long story) so I've felt more like keeping quiet this week. This is probably the time when looking for pleasures is more important so....for yesterday....
1. It was my aunty's birthday. I called round to see her and had a sneaky half glass of wine whilst....
2. The HT went to the nearest city shopping with his best friend. It's the first time he's been without me as they usually like me to go too (although I suspect it's to do with paying for lunch). I was beginning to think he was never going to go on his own.
3. The HT and friend had a great time, he bought himself a t-shirt and his friend bought herself a top (she was robbed - it was about the size of two handkerchiefs sewn together and it cost her £10).
4. Shopping delivery came and there was only one thing out of stock. As they email me first thing to tell me what isn't coming I'd already been to our local very small store and bought it (cat litter which is definitely essential).
5. I nearly forgot, the HT and friend brought a present back for me. It's a small crystal pendant on a leather cord. It was unexpected and it's good to know that they appreciate all the running around that I do for the pair of them
Take care all of you15 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) A lie in.
2) My sister's birthday so we met up on the allotment. I had baked a Victoria sponge cake (this morning) and also took flasks of hot chocolate. Small niece liked the new hens.
3) House quite tidy.
4) Meatballs and spaghetti for tea.
5) Smaller son and I went to put the hens away and Derren Brown is getting very feisty! She is the smallest and most ill looking hen but makes the most noise (by far) and was pecking Beanie like her life depended on it tonight. 3 eggs.
6) My brother also got new hens today. He gets them from a research place for £1 and they're in better condition than ex battery hens but still not great.
7) Did the house insurance renewal on my grandparents' old house, although it will be on the market shortly. They bought it new then lived there for 50 years, followed by tenants for the last 10 years. The tenants had 9 children so we were expecting it to be a bit grubby when they left, or worse. None of us had been in for 10 years but my parents said today they went in and it was absolutely immaculate, clean and tidy and the garden and fencing was actually better than when they moved in! I felt quite touched by that.14 -
1. Work not too bad - a couple of people were on leave.
2. Chat with a neighbour.
3. Spoke with council about complaint other neighbour made about the cockerel noise. I did inform the council that I am only looking after him for another 2 weeks. He seemed very reasonable. I tried to clarify some of the diary the neighbour had sent in.
4. Drink in the garden with DS1 and DH- relaxing and a good chat.
5. DS1 brought home 5kg of cherries from home. They taste delicious.14 -
For yesterday,
Up early so baked bread.
Driving to yard and seeing so many wildflowers on the verges.
Time spent with girlie, bit of pole work done and only one difference of opinion, as in I wanted her to go over the poles and she didnt, to deal with.
Have forwarded on several of the books I was kindly gifted to a friend who is shielding ahead of op, she was chuffed.
Tasty veggie tea, a lentil, courgette and pepper bake followed by strawbs with yoghurt.13 -
1. As above, right now from fave little hidey seat in CUBG.
2. Up since 0430h and about to have rather late repas pique-nique of rtc 59p poussin, early roasted, half of, with some roast sweet potato. Yum yum :-) and black green tea from purple thermos again, plus book.
3. Early &gardening delivery to The Alma done, inc. charity stall hot pepper plants bought en route, but oh dear! Road dug up and no free parking, or any parking, for &. So, dbl figure miles back to &squat for old lady bus pass, then to p&r Trumpington. 1st public transport in 6 mths, not entirely comfortable about it, but was still here on time for bkd visit@1000 bells opening. Surprising, considering.
4. Suddenly thought to use WhatsApp for pics and vids to my 3 tutees, since Friday teaching is still some way off. Set tasks and questions:-) 2 notes came yesterday, from eldest and parents. She has been chosen for a special group next year, which they credit to &. Not so. This is a gifted family who hold education dear, value a love of learning and revel in potential. Exciting, liberating and fun - this is how we do it together:-)
5. This is another lovely day, away from asb. A Hawkeye the magpie feather in my chignon. Driving down to Spitalfields friends in their London church on Sunday. This will be so good. Funeral back here is Monday.....
