5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

-
1. Work reasonable even if in pain with my back.
Some laughs about various things and much nicer atmosphere as certain people weren't around.
2. Remembered to buy a jar of coffee for work as it was on special offer.
3. DH did second coat of paint in the hall. Only need to do radiator, doorframes, and tidy up the ceiling/wall area. Then shelves up.
4. Tidied up a bit.
5. Read some more of my book.0 -
Morning all from a very sunny ICT - the washing is on the line and getting a good blow.... about to do a walk along the sea front... Another 11 - 12 miles of coast path lined up for tomorrow.
Happy wedding day to your FN Mhags..
Pleasures for yesterday
1. No issues at the dentist :T though he has suggested I would benefit from some tooth whitening. he said it is purely cosmetic - and I realise it's good business for them. but i would quite like it. am thinking about it as a christmas pressie - i'd like my fillings to be white too - but not going through that especially. (like many people my age I have quite a lot of fillings... - my kids, 21 and 18 have none (yet) - and, yes, I am a bit smug :rotfl:, I will be devastated when they have to have the first one)
2. Excellent yoga - quite a busy class and got chatting to one of the ladies there.
3. Quick clean of bathroom and kitchen before leaving for ICT - not sure why this is a pleasure as I will get little benefit. :rotfl:
4. Lovely drive to ICT - the light and mist on the hills was stunning. Passed DS on the border coming the other way. Me waving like a loon - him with a cool nod and a raised hand
5. Spent a quiet evening here, actually got some work done. And a very decent night's sleep.
have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1) Wee run with a colleague at lunch today. Only did 4km as she's quite new to running but I enjoy getting out, and the natter.
2) Signed up to the December Dash which means I'll be doing 5k a day for every day of December (including Xmas!) With club runs that will take me over 100miles. Excited for the challenge.
3) Left home at lunch to WFH. Now sitting on my sofa wrapped in a blankie. OH had a similar idea and has just appeared too.
4) Going to dinner with mum and sister tonight. Just a chain Italian place. I think they're a waste of money but it's mum's choice of a gift (me and my sis are splitting cost) so will just enjoy it. Also found a voucher for 25% off all food
5) We've given alcohol up for the month and I'm quite pleased we've got 1/3rd way through already. Do think I've shed a few pounds and I'm feeling more productive!0 -
For yesterday,
1 Had to do a refuel popped in and picked up reduced toffee apple ham! Got to be worth a try.
2 The winter hyacychs appear to be trying.
3 Trying to create freezer space but keep picking up reductions – ops.
4 I’ve got an interview next week.
5 I more work day completed.
6. Bird food restocked.
For today
1 Made it through another week.
2 The Mr T offer on chicken is too good to miss for the animal chicken, popped by tonight not expecting anything but they had lots in at the maximum weight and a long date. Now lots of chopping lays ahead.
3 Sweet and sour turkey with turmeric rice will be dinner.
4 Savings are so slow to mount but still getting there with careful budgeting.
5 Bedding is going through the wash a pleasure to do as soon as I got in, but I’ve made the mistake of sitting down before I’ve put the new bedding on!!!0 -
1) Orley on the mend and Mum at home until Monday (hope he's well enough for nursery or I have to go back for next week too).
2) Not being on the motorway any longer, it was gruelling, slow and Friday rush hour..NOT FUN!
3) 2 mugs of tea!
4) The chairs now have new seat covers, DD2 did them with me this morning, look fab in the newly painted frames.
5) Home, peace and my bed to sleep in tonight!0 -
Back.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz0 -
Must try harder on this 5 a day! Ah well.
DundeeDoll - Transfer of ordinance sounds a little like hefting militaria about, but delighted you stepped through the transfer window!
Kittikins - Yeay a year of KW & hurrah both with allotment & FB messenger. May both be productive.
Mila - 'stranger things' is getting rave reviews over here (interestingly one for its Font which tickled me thoroughly) - should I make time for this it at least an episode & 1st or 2nd season?! Last I read them, Lynley & Havers were still annoying each other but I shudder to think what being televised might do to them - very *very* well observed Britishness by an American author.
BoP - safe travels, there & back again! [Indeed welcome home!]
Mhagster - so glad you're home, there are boxes & *eventually* you'll find the good stuff & all the very best with the wedding.
Mrs LW - Oops, Orley not himself again? Or just a little longer to recover than hoped? But oh, One's Own Bed...
To everyone else - many thanks for posting as it makes for heartening reading amidst the cold & wet & mist & generally Autumnal with snippets of Winter weather.
OS Pleasures recently
Son is a delight to hug. Apart from the "you're getting smaller" perception - no, he's eating & exercising & generally growing toblerone shaped & I absolutely see why his girlfriend grins a lot. Not that I mentioned that, just groused that I only noticed this height thing when I needed a hand with the tall shelves.
Life can be so unfair. I gather two of our buildings are short on web data & may have to close for the duration. Me, working from home by chance, ran three checks & can get two major servers & my email so I rather think my colleagues won't get a day lost but sent home to access servers through the cloud. Still, we can take up the Tesco choccies offer as we travel! [Did. Christmas may now break out. {Lads, Gerroff!}]
Son watching House "Wilson's not happy" - well, yes, seeing your friend & colleague in that state does blow any last hope of plausible deniability. Ah Robert Sean Leonard, I remember you in Dead Poets Society - eyebrows to aspire to.
Other sons squeaking over Bin Laden's PC. Frank goggles over the children's films, a shrug at the games & an appalled "he didn't clear his browser history?!" Villain just dropped to Nit...
Scout planning - we're pretty much sorted til September! OK this depends on another 5 people doing bits too but the gist is there, & it is very heartening to have so many things planned that the scouts have asked for (as well as leaders Leave, Mocks & Easter all allowed for & included).
Introduced colleague to rumbledethumps - she's familiar with champ but we hit Google together for the nuances. No prizes for guessing what we plan to cook & eat this weekend, as a 'Scottish foodstuff' I must forward it onto the scout leader running the St Andrews night. It's far more affordable & manageable than scouts on tablet.... [Imagination cowers under the table.]
Ah, the Emporium truly has admirable staff. Ones who appreciate the deft clearing of hurdles for the free brew even as I laud the splendid bags for life - almost as versatile as the banana they are wearily familiar with but cheaper & of more use to me now I no longer have persnickety toddlers....
HIGNFY & Miles Jupp - hadn't twigged my news quiz voice was previously Balamory, but *everyone* chuckled at the half term reference.
I too have seen strangely shaggy cyclamen - to see the ruffled edges of those smooth shapes is very disconcerting. I do love the colours though - they make the lipstick counter look drab!
Renewing acquaintance with domovoi - Russian house guardians, who can be placated with bread, milk, tobacco & who can foretell the family future - luck, marriage, the death of the head of the family (that latter if a candle blows out - clearly Russians take draught exclusion seriously).
Argh the ethics of girlfriend staying over. Stuff it - next bath I have, I *will* sing. Why should I not divert my attention from the cold tap with a chorus of 'the wild mountain thyme'? I sploshed quietly & speculated on son (outraged) lecturing me as girlfriend eavesdropped through wall & this time neshed it. Pleasure in thinking of what you might advise?!
Costco. My budget is whimpering but the store cupboards are loaded. Even the petrol tank is full! Minion (vehement as to the steering of trolleys) silenced & appeased by pizza & brothers did the unloading.
My future appears to include the local gym and "the dreadmill"... This will require custom shoeing again, as I doubt my beloved hillboots are acceptable.
Glorious moon! Better still sat beside fire on back garden as new camping stove trialled. Other folks fireworks peeping over roof line - excellent!
"We met yesterday." Occasionally I *can* be laconic. An eavesdropping friend howled with laughter at this way of re-introducing myself to the chap who drove into me. [Oh car repairs Again]
You know the one hand piled up on the other til the bottom hand is pulled out & slapped on top? Taught that playground game to my pal at the carpark who's hands were near frozen - and the laughter is as warming as the promise that it's Wednesday & the weekend is coming!
Oh gods. I overslept & am now have an awake clear eyed view of my family in the early hours of consciousness. Attenborough could make the eldest's mumbling & shambling prime time - it has me weak with mildly sympathetic laughter. Along with "brush your hair" as he'd currently scare crows...
It's a Friday, so the 3 of us in have organised a sweepstake on who the boss will be Monday. We've each put 50 pence in & will pay out at 10.30 am Monday... [Yes, it was *that* busy that halfhour.]
Right. Health strength love luck courage & clean handkerchiefs to all who need them, plus thick socks as temperatures drop & toes cool...0 -
Congratulations to MHags niece and her new husband x
Get well soon Villagelife x
Hooray for forward scout planning DfV. I used to love planning a term's worth of RainbowsNow I plan for a living as it were, it's less enjoyable, unless I know it's a lesson that's going to get the children really excited about learning!

Morning,
Mhags sleepover sounds fun! Hope wedding went well.
Many non-pleasures yesterday....got the estimate of costs for extension. Will not be going ahead, as too expensive. ☹️ Fallen out with everyone at home. Work still a dread every morning......
Yesterday
1. School has passed a big moderation process. So, sighs of relief all around.
2. One of the TA's said we should have submitted a photo of our poppy display to a TV breakfast show, cos ours was much better than the ones on the programme. Haven't seen it, but may be next year. Although I have vowed not to do it again! There was a lot of poppies to hang!!!!
3. Gardening group planted onions and weeded our plot. After lunch we joined a workshop to make lanterns for Xmas display. Guys did a really good job, and spoke to some of the members of the public. Also, saw someone I know....small world!
4. Got some of the cheap bacon in Icelands 7 day deal on the way home.
5. More Staranger Things, and quilting by the fire.
Hoping for a better day today.:T0
